I am sad about Halo Infinite

I played one map in the beta, man, after 50 mins I just left, joined next day, play for 1 hour or so, left again because of boredom and went to actually play MCC. I dunno, don’t want to bash on people’s hopes here, I just personally felt that it is the same, just a bit more polished, with some new grenades and some meaningless new weapons, meaning, it was ok, nothing thrilling, not bad, but as it is, I will get the game ofc but can’t see myself work up the same grind as in Halo MCC.

As for SP, a huge let down so far in terms of being kept in the shadows here. It just won’t be good, I can feel it in my gut and I was always right since Halo CE in terms of what my gut told me.

I wonder what you guys think, you guys thrilled? Or just, meh ?

I think the PvP has some balance issues (the game needs a precision utility). And I don’t really see why they are still including sprint and clamber at this point. They just feel like token abilities they are afraid to get rid of. But their general sandbox push is a step in the right direction. If they get the balance right, this might be one of the better Halo sandboxes in the history of the game. BTB was a let down for me–my reaction to BTB was much the same as your reaction to the multiplayer in general–i hope there is a more classic variant for launch. Maps I could take or leave so far, besides behemoth, which seemed like a truly Halo map even though it could use better weapon and vehicle placement.

I plan on not buying the campaign until co-op launches, but anything will be better than H5. The demo last year actually had me hopeful as I don’t care as much about graphics as gameplay. But since they’ve been so quiet, it definately has me worried.

Generally, I feel very meh. At least the PvP is FTP, so I don’t have to commit much in order to give it another try.

I fully disagree.

I don’t agree, maybe you just didn’t get enough time at it. The only issue I had was with the banshee, everything else I loved

Personally the infinite flights had the foundation of the most enjoyable halo experience yet IMO. I think BTB needs some improvement (specifically with vehicle spawning and health), but otherwise I’m very excited. I just haven’t been able to enjoy other multiplayer games since playing the flights - so I’m patiently waiting now. Of course there are some tweaks the team could make here or there but overall I love what I played.

sucks to be you i guess

I’d hardly call campaign being “left in the dark”. We got another trailer at E3 this year, obvious improvements from the year before.
We’ve also played the game, the game looks and feels good to play.

Just because we haven’t seen any campaign doesn’t mean it’s going to be bad. 343i specifically said quite a while back that nothing campaign related was going to be shown for a while but it would be before launch.
In fact just yesterday Ske7ch of 343 confirmed we’d be seeing Campaign “soon”. Most likely at Xbox & Halo’s 20th anniversary livestream on November 15th.

I hate to say it but I think you’ve overblown things a little. 343i isn’t hiding Halo Infinite, they’ve been talking about it in great detail on a monthly basis for 10 months now, we’ve even played the game on numerous occasions.

Halo has never reinvented itself in a major way before. If anything Infinite is the biggest change in a long time. It’s a lot more than a few new grenades etc.
You’re saying it “feels the same” and then gone back to MCC to play the same games everyone’s been playing for the past 20 years anyway.

Infinite is a very fresh Halo experience but it’s still going to have the same foundations of the older games - that’s just what makes Halo, Halo. You may not like Infinite, that’s completely fine.
The general consensus from fans so far is that Infinite is shaping up pretty damn good right now. There’s a certain energy you can feel online with Halo Infinite right now, Halo is in the spotlight and has a good chance of delivery a decent product.

bummer, sucks for you. I didnt want something that uprooted halo just to be new. That was 4 and 5 and that fell on its face. At this point, going back to the basics and polishing that for a more modern audience is the best route for them to take. Halo needed a refresh, but not one that made it lose its identity. Honeslty, MCC is now a bore compared to infinite for me. So much so I stopped playing it entirely.

As for the campaign “hiding” I find this view laughable, mainly given its kind of tin foil hatish. I know not everyone will have this view, but I honestly dont think marketing in the modern era functions the same way as it did in the early 2000s. TV trailers, posters etc all kind of have fallen to the way side. The marketing cycle in general tends to be much shorter for the general public (while longer for the more specifc audiences). Its basically confirmed that infinites campaign will be at the Nov 15 xbox stream (not 100% but damn near close). A 3 week marketing cycle for campaign for the public makes complete sense given you want people to see that marketing and not be sad its months out. The more “hardcore” audience has gotten their marketing almost monthly with inside infinite and flights. Not much more needed to be done for them.

Should people be skeptical? Of course, players should always be of products that have not launched yet. But at the same time id argue there is no reason to be sad either. If you didnt like infinite’s flights, thats fine. Its a bummer, but fine

You felt it was the same as what? MCC? I am sorry But I have to disagree with that.

He must think halo5 because he left to play mcc instead.

Or equally as likely they a troll.

I mean MCC actually has stuff to grind for while the flight was really just armor that would go away once the flight is over but once it releases I’m sure you’ll have your grind. I personally loved it but i can admit that i have played games like cod that get boring doing the same maps and pretty much no rewards (unless you want to sacrifice a portion of your life getting a skin which i did and have damascus, darkmatter, and dark aether (dont recommend)). Its just like every other game. MCC only grants you customization but once you get the armor you want is there any reason to play? Campaign is different because it has a story and probably some replayability so Id have to say that people really only play to unlock stuff or to take up spare time. It could be fun at first but everything gets boring after a while.

SP was never a big deal for me. I get that its nice but people would almost always want to play on a tv all to themselves. I personally played halo with my dad on splitcreen and it was fun but if he was on another tv i honestly dont think it would have changed a thing. Of course people can like whatever then wanna like for different reasons.

I just want to say i know people have played games just for the gameplay and may still enjoy it today but in my experience with everyone I’ve played with have all switched from a game after a period of time.

MCC quite frankly blows Infinite out of the water, wayyy more content, 2 decades worth of maps, weapons, characters, etc. so obviously Infinite being so basic isn’t going to blow you away.

Even assuming that 343i do keep the 10 year plan thing, they would never be able to match MCC in terms of content, that’s how big the difference is.

This is not me bashing Infinite, simply stating that MCC is super saiyan 4 and Infinite hasn’t even climbed Korin tower yet… Regardless though Infinite actual feels, plays, smells? like halo and that’s hard to argue being a massive positive.

You played it for 2 hours? That’s hardly enough time to be sad for Infinite. I played for about 11 hours and am extremely excited for the game now.

I liked it personally. Also, keep in mind that was a fraction of what’s coming out in December

Rather pessimistic take.

The Flights only showed gameplay potential that the developers wanted us to see, play with and test, not the whole enchilada in its final form.

I’m reserving my judgment for launch.
