I am NOT a babysitter, so stop teaming me with people who have never played the game before

Pick your own teammates and this will never happen. It’s the only way to guarantee good teammates, as the AI has limitations as to know who to pair up with you.

If you read the thread instead of just typing a reply you think sounds good you will see many of us have done that.

The player retention is terrible though and you have to be looking for team mates on almost every session as the players you have played with are off to play better and/or working titles.

I only run ranked with a partner or a full squad. If I’m playing solo than I’m going for daily challenges or the current event if that is going. Gl fellow Spartan.

In the end, which options are left when you dont have enough player to build up even teams?
Right, you put just the available player together.
That gives you the impression: “Wow, look how fast it found a match”
Hmmm, sure, but it isnt fun to get stomped.

I’m sure you have…

Well, then I pray that you’ll find some fun eventually going forward.

The SBMM is the same as MCC and it’s terrible. This isn’t even a “have it or don’t” argument, this is a if it’s in the game do it right argument.

If you’re a 50 background MMR, they’ll pair you with 0 to reach 25. If you have two 50’s, you’ll have two 0’s against a team of 20-30. I shouldn’t need to explain why this is a terrible system.

It does NOT shield the bad players, it lets them get decimated in your lobby. You’ll do solid, but then lose anyway because it’s usually impossible to make up for two 1-16 and 0-11’s. That is their system since they implemented it in MCC and it has never been worse.

People think the deletion of SBMM is good players wanting easy lobbies, but if they took a second to understand the system as written above, it hurts them even worse. It either needs to get fixed and give you similar teammates against a similar opponent, or be deleted entirely.

i dunno how many times ive been in games where i was at number 1 and 2 of my teammates were at the bottom with 2 kills and 14 deaths

yeah guess, go force your 3 friends to play with you or sit and around and try to find some random 3 people to play with. totally not this busted games fault

That’s just how it is. So if you don’t want that to happen, get your own group so you don’t get matched up with ransoms.

i have a “deja vue” reading your post

So glad someone else can see the problem it creates, not just for those leading the games, but probably more importantly for those getting curb stomped. New players should absolutely be protected from that, i can imagine its just alienating them.
Last things a new players wants to experience is getting reamed over and over. Put them in a “baby pool” if you will, something that once you have the grips of game you can then enter the larger pool. New players getting wins or at the worst, close losses will also most likely lead to a higher player retention.

The system as it stands is just broken keeping everyone at a false 50% win ratio for whatever reason that maybe.

This is a serious problem. If the game works against players. To purposely make them lose. This might even be worse than the totally screwed up MMR thanks to bot matches. Not only will the matchmaking screw you over, the game will intentionally screw you out of a victory because you win too much and they don’t wanna make other players feel bad? What about making you feel bad about feeling like you’re not getting any better, or getting worse.

I can see both sides of this argument. Ideally, matchmaking should be giving a player teammates with similar skill levels / ranks. I’ve had a few Infinite matches where I’ve been left scratching my head as to how I was matched with such bad teammates. And then, I’m sure there’s been matches where my teammates have scratched their head as to why they were matched with me.

It’s true that playing with friends is the best way to ensure your matches aren’t lopsided, but then there are going to be those nights when your friend group isn’t on and you want to play ranked. Not to mention the dwindling playerbase. The LFG groups, Discord and forums can be helpful, but in my experience it can take some time to get a group going depending on what people are looking for.

I would also say there’s a huge problem with presentation of rank in this game, in part because there are so few ranks. I’m always wondering how Unranked players got into my match as a mid Diamond player, not to mention Gold / Platinum players etc. I don’t think it’s an unfair expectation to want to play with and against players who are slightly higher and lower in your bracket when solo queuing.

Matchmaking has never been perfect, but there are ways to improve it and I think a big part of the problem with games these days are the low expectations players have for them. At the same time, it’s a risk to go into ranked alone and probably always will be. No system will ever be perfect – just hopefully better than the last.

Matchmaking in infinite is one of the worst Ive seen in a long, long time.

Its aim is to put together matches as quick as possible… in and out, like a McDonalds.

It seemingly ignores skill and more importantly, distance between players when throwing together 8 randos for a game of infinite.

Id happily wait 5 mins between games if it took that time to find players in my region, and of a similar skill level.

This wham bam thanks for playing BS is broken.

I would happily wait longer for matches that felt more balanced as well. Also, for servers in my region with the lowest ping.

I think anyone playing Infinite would agree on this, sadly it would require effort on 343’s behalf, or at the very least they would have to pay for a contractor to come and implement it for them.

343 hate extra costs as much as they hate having to put effort in though so… probably not going to happen.

Ditto. Gotta relax and play for fun. Even if you lose it can be fun to play still.

If I get good teammates and win it’s nice. If I get bad teammates and lose I still can do good on my own and enjoy my own badges, ratios and such. If I do bad and suck in a match - well, that happens, usually,

if it happens 2 or 3 times in a row I either take 15 min break to relax or change the mode to something fun like Fiesta (it’s the most fun game mode for me).

I think most problems and anger people have towards Infinite (and games in general) is because they treat it too seriously. I guess I did that too when I was in my teens and twenties, maybe being more chill comes with age?

I’m not sure, maybe it’s a regional thing - I’m in central Europe and I rarely get anything with pings over 70… Though I know many people report high ping connections…

There’s plenty of places online to meet similar people that are also looking for others to party up you know. You don’t have to rely on people you know in real life to play halo with you.

You do know that correct?

Never had this issue on OG Halo games. And at the very least those games informed you when players were partied up. I have to send PM to people to know.

You all seem to be massively missing the point. Don’t put me in partied matches when I’m not partied. Simple as that.
