I just got done forging a pretty decent map yesterday, I based it on one of the spartan OP missions.
I come back today to add a couple more stalls things, only to find every single piece I forged crooked. EVERY SINGLE PIECE. I know this happend to me with my collessium walls before, which wasn’t that big of a deal, but now I noticed every single piece is messed up.
What do I do? Do I fix and save every single piece? Do I just quit the forge and enter back? Oh my god I’m infuriated right now, beyond pissed man. I’m ready to take my co troller and whip it because I just spent a few hours last night staying up making this and working hard on it.
This is a known bug, caused by the Forge save format being too compressed. The only known workaround is to lock all your objects. Unfortunately, there isn’t a real way of returning to the “original” state of your map, so you’ll have to fix every piece, then lock them.
Good luck: it’s a pain in the -Yoink- to fix.

Locking all your objects only works during that session. All locking does is prevent you from accidentally deleting or shifting an object. If you come back to it the next day, your objects will be out of place. I gave up on H4orgless.
Try placing your objects slightly apart from one another. Leaving a slight gap in between them. Save the map. Exit. reload the map and see if that works. Just a few tricks I’ve learned. It may or may not work. It does most of the time for me.
Plenty of people have experienced this before… Yet I have never had any problems. I also tend to Forge a lot.
Do what Another Locust said, locking each piece will keep them from moving.
I was pretty sure that this happened everytime you reopen a map. It does for me. Sometimes its so small its unnoticable. But Im pretty sure this always happens when opening a map in forge or custom games.
Just a note, you should be sure that you are the only person in the game. If someone else joins and steals host, all the maps pieces may suddeny look completely out of order. At that point you would end the game, reload the map, and everything should look normal.

So what causes this? Allowing people in my forge session?
Does anyone know what exactly causes this?
It never happens to me when I forge alone, but when I’m with friends it’s like someone just ripped the map apart.
Well, I’m not totally sure of what causes the problem, i just know that to some extent, even if unnoticeable, it almost always happens. In forge games, host changes can cause it to be worse than normal.

Word of advice, reset all the pieces in ONE forge session once you are COMPLETELY done making changes.
Once you are done that, save as a new map. It won’t offset any of the pieces when you open it up in custom games, but it will if you open it up in forge.
As far as I’m aware, this works. Not totally sure.
This has been the case in Reach as well. I guess there’s really just no way around it, besides what the others have been saying about locking your pieces, or you could build the map in such a way that the pieces aren’t perfectly side-by-side
From start to finish i will do atleast five save as, to prevent this exact thing from happening, or any other glitches. Also you can go back to a v.3 or v.4 and change things that dont work after playtesting.
Seems like it usually happens whenever you’ve got friends in your game while you’re Forging. In previous games, pieces anyone who wasn’t host set down tended to do some… Rather strange things. Unfortunately, host isn’t necessarily Party Leader. When my connection sucked, I usually always found that if I invited somebody while I was in Monitor-mode, I suddenly exploded for the game to swap hosts. Y’know, 'cause host swaps require blood sacrifices or something.
Anyway. Always worse with other people. Forge alone for maximum safety.
This is a stupid bug, It means someone entered you game. Forge on a local lobby or offline altogether, or just set your game to invi only.
