I am going to try and say this politely

Pardon my grammar

I am VERY disappointed and feel rather defeated at this point, and if you have a minute hear me out and read through this essay of a post.

Now I understand alot of people on these forums are casual big team fans and I’m a competitive guy so I’m expecting to get flamed around because I hear logic isn’t around here. But I’m giving posting here a chance and going to express my opinions and see if anyone here agrees with me or disagrees for healthy forum discussion, please use logic, not just biased opinions.

I just wanted to voice my opinion about the lack of maps and some of the guys we having running this game. to have 13 maps on this game, not including forge and 8 of the 13 play btb and complex is too big for 4v4. And for the lead mp designer to tell us Harvest is a small map, its getting ridiculous. Halo runs off of the power of different communities, that is the fan base. The casuals are the biggest that’s no doubt, but unless your the hardcore casual die hard halo fan, the casuals will be most likely to leave for CoD because they are looking for a non-serious just have fun kind of game. I feel like the competitve community and the forgers are getting the short end of the stick, especially the competitve community who many of us have dreams of going pro and playing on the main stage.

After reach we turned into the minority. Casuals don’t understand us, Developers don’t support us all that well, and thank you 343 for trying to help but you guys REALLY need to listen to what were saying. Coming from the MLG crowd we come across as aggressive, rude, and determined to get what we want, were in a panic mode watching the game go down the -Yoink- that way, and sending Kevin Franklin to MLG asking where the AR’s are isn’t great support.

I don’t really know where this post is going anymore but what I’m trying to say is, there is a few communities that really need 343’s help really bad at this point, we don’t want to quit, we want to love halo again, and the forge problems, lack of custom game options, and the change for the sake of change it really feels, at least give a reason why power weapons despawn quicker than dead bodies. And I just feel like the promotion of the vehicle play in this game is terrible and instead of 343 hiring fans of halo, they should have gotten more people who understand it, because at the game’s core, its amazing but these intentions are awful. I know 343 wants to put their spin on the game but you need to stick with the formula that works. It worked for CoD, it worked for BF. Halo declined when it changed completely come reach.

I would like to see better developer support and not just vehicle promotion all the time, work with the forgers, the mlg guys, the griftball guys if you seriously want to compete with cod, because adding in cod gimmicks won’t work. Sci-fi and modern shooters are just too different. And the communities need to unite. If you don’t like something fine, give a reasoning to it. But don’t tell how others should play the game without some sort of logic behind it, because too many fights between the different communities happen this way. Competitve doesn’t bring additude, ranks don’t bring additude, it brings intensity, population brings in additude.

I think MS is putting a lot more pressure on them than they did on Bungie. They need to hire more staff if MS is going to put all of these deadlines on them.

Whole game is going slowly downhill. Fun, but faulty in many ways, and not just the gameplay

QFT. I love you.

i didn’t bother reading your whole posts, but thanks for sharing your thoughts to those who likes to read.

I don’t really know what to classify myself as but I liked playing on smaller maps and the fact that there are so many big maps is a big turn off for me. It sucks, man.

I think it’s -Yoinking!- funny how 343 thought making weapons despawn faster than bodies was a good idea. Pretty bad decision making throughout this entire game.

OP, Thank you.

I’m what most would label a “casual,” though I prefer to think of myself as just a gamer. I like my vehicles, and my BTB, and having good clean fun my own way. I’m not super competitive and could most time care less if I loose. It’s nice to see someone from the “competitive” crowd voice their opinion of the game in a way that doesn’t seem to state that the game must be changed completely to suit their style of play. I’ve been playing Halo since the beginning, and for people to tell me I’m doing it wrong rubs me, and others the wrong way. Like you said, people have always loved Halo for different reasons, and I think sometimes people on all sides loose sight of this.

So, again. Thank you for a mature and reasonable post. And for the record, I see no problem with the requests you made in you post. I support them 100%, so long as vehicles don’t get taken off of every map, or nerfed to the point where they might as well not even be present. More forge and custom game options should always be welcomed by the whole community, not just certain niches.

Agreed

tl;dr
but i did skim — and you’re not alone in feeling the way you do man.
just know that.

> we don’t want to quit

This is why you and others will continue to feel dissatisfied. Microsft/343 won’t improve things as long as they have people buying their terrible games and DLC.

You are not alone in feeling this way. I fall some where between casual and competitive now (isn’t getting older grand?). I can look back on where Halo came from and remember great gameplay and a desire to play the game in all it’s forms, be that campaign, MP or firefight. I could easily spend hours playing the MP, meeting new people and having a helluva time in either ranked or social play.

Now with Halo 4 I cannot play more than 20-30 minutes before I am so frustrated with the core gameplay/gimmicks/cheapos that I have to turn off the xbox. Gone are the days where I could play MP for hours. I am lucky to play 2-3 games a day before I just can’t stand it anymore and those are on days when I can actually convince myself to play Halo 4.

I get games have to change and evolve, but this is ridiculous.

No worries OP. You aren’t the only one missing the competitive edge that Halo once offered. However I do believe that the intergration of a full fledged ranking system will ease your woes.^1

I am enjoying Halo 4 from an entertainment perspective which helps me ignore “harcore” frustrations. That being said, I find myself loathing the overpowered Ghost.

Remember that game companies no longer make games for the hardcore audience. Accessibility for the masses takes priority over pleasing long time fans.^2 Knowing this, you shouldn’t get get bent out of shape, casual sells and it will never change.

I applaud the comments although I have to put myself into the casual gamer side of things. Realistically, the only reason I do so is I am simply not a good player in MM, there is something about succeeding at multiplayer that has always baffled me.

Obviously, its been a rough start for 343 and H4, but I love the campaign, enjoy Spartan Ops and for once, multiplayer. There have been thread after thread, comment after comment all emotional, most even valid, but typically the context is a knee-jerk, inflammatory comment. Those comments, regardless of their validity are typically ignored due to their rudeness etc. Personally, I have really NOT liked those threads that quote MLG gamers opinions on multiplayer as gospel.

I stand by the simple concept that, Microsoft,343,even Bungie, and all the other game developers out there, bottom line are out there to make money and sell a product. To simply cater to the competitive community is simply wrong,it limits an audience and therefore revenue and profit.

That said,I completely agree with the criticism that there is not a competitive playlist, ranked, or social exclusive playlists. It throws the New York Yankees in with the sandlot ballers.

In the long run, however,I appreciate most of all, your concise post and argument as presented. It’s fresh air and one which I am willing to listen to. Hopefully 343 will do the same.

I appreciate the skills of competitive players and MLG, but throwing me into that mix,I don’t think either side would have any fun.
