hello,
I’ve been playing halo since 2009, My first game was halo 3 and that’s where I developed a love for halo, I haven’t played it since 2012, not until it came out on pc, I was really hyper for MCC PC Reach, and once I got my hands on it, I was thrilled, so thrilled that I put 200 hours into Reach, and played the campaign through legendary 3 times, but that’s when I started to see a problem, controller players with aim assist usually weren’t a big problem in reach due to bloom but were still a reoccurring nuisance, it got to the point where I quit Reach after putting 250 hours into it.
I didn’t play for 3 months, not till H2A came out, I reinstalled MCC, played through a glitchy product, and then the same problem rose again, aim assist players ruined gameplay for me, my friends were already annoyed with reach and had quit once and for all, I gave the game a second chance on and was failed yet again, I believe MCC on PC is a huge turn off for M+K players, I have quit the game yet again and will give it a 3rd and final chance with Halo 3, and if this game also fails me due to the unfair matchup of k+m and controller players , I will have ended my journey with halo right where I began it, with Halo 3.
thank you for reading.
Are you sure you’re not just playing against better players and blaming it on aim assist? Anyway, input based matchmaking is in development so we’ll eventually be able to select who we play against.

I am pretty sure, I am not a bad player, specially when it comes to playing hitscan weapons, I’ve played overwatch for more than a thousand hours mostly playing mcree, genji and s76, I am a masters player and even before overwatch, I played CSGO for more than a thousand hours. I’ve heard that halo 3s aim assist it much weaker and that combined with the projectile bullets should be a fair match up, but in all honesty, specially with halo 2c and halo 2a, aim assist is too strong, at least that’s how I see it.
So you are not actually done yet lol.
I’d recommend that you watch this video, but I can explain it if you don’t want to.
People have been playing Halo with a controller for upwards to twenty years, and you haven’t been for almost ten years (not only that, but you barely played the series in the first place compared to them). Halo also has way more to master than shooting, so you probably aren’t as good as you think.
I’m not trying to discount your struggles OP, but 200-250 hours isn’t all that much to get good at a game. There are folks out there with thousands of hours of playing time. That includes the OG games, the MCC games, and PC stuff. They’ve just been playing a lot more than you have. It’s not a criticism of you, it’s just an observation that you haven’t really played as much as you think. 250 sounds like a lot, but it takes around 14,000 hours to become a master in something (it’s actually a really interesting concept explored by an author named Malcolm Gladwell).
Also, you brought up playing Legendary three times. That has very little to do with MP gameplay. You can’t compare your skills in MP to your skills in campaign. In one, you are playing against people that have a mind of their own, infinite strategies, and different styles. In campaign, the NPCs are fairly limited in what they can do. They might be more challenging on legendary, but they are still far more predictable than any independent thinker in an MP match.
Kay, best of luck on future projects
