so recently i played Halo Reach and i cant understand why they wont allow faithful fans to play game types and DLC maps. i am truly angered because the game only came out in late 2010 and i was gone for a year last year and suddenly everything is gone. So last month i downloaded The Noble, and Defiant map packs thinking to my self maybe its a DLC issue and it tuns out i cannot play them because all the play lists have been removed to speed up match making time. I know there’s no refund but i would greatly appreciate one. this also slows my rank progression as i am now stuck waiting for a long time waiting for a possible match.
i am so angry with the way the video game industry is going. you create a game and 2 years later remove everything? you cant even get the blue flaming helmet because Bungie and 343 obviously didn’t want that. i am a disappointed gamer. Halo 4 failed me as a good game. the story was great but game play for an Xbox 360 was poor, glitchy and lacking in detail. that’s why 25000+ players still play halo reach and over 5000+ still play Halo 3. To be honest if there is another 343 game that closely resembles Halo 4 i will officially be done with 343. they are not Bungie. they lack the creativity and charisma that Bungie had. That we don’t care to be different. Lets take a major risk and step far ahead. 343 lacked that so much in Halo 4. They lack the fantasy the lore and unrealistic styles that Halo CE, Halo 2 and 3 had. even halo reach. who cares 343, why should you care what the military wants??? Of coarse the Master Chiefs armor would never function properly in a real world environment. I think you guys need to do a serious reality check and revise what has been written. and you know what i mean. I believe many people feel the same way and you have heard it before. Just because a bunch of 10 year olds think its a cool game doesn’t mean that we as a community do. Besides Isn’t it a M (mature) rated game?? why are they even playing? you guys shouldn’t try to appeal to that audience for another 8 years any ways. Yea i played Halo as a kid but you get my point. you should appeal to the aging and ongoing fan base that you as an industry have taken on.

So, let’s try this, I’ll order my responses with numbers based off the paragraph.
- Those ‘faithful fans’ were given ample of opportunities to play the prior DLC playlists in order for them to stick around, when the most recent DLC playlist was added, they said they’d be keeping a close eye on the playlist and if the player pool was sufficient enough, it would stick around.
This wasn’t the case, it was removed in the August 2012 consolidation. You can still play DLC maps as Matchmaking does for a short time, try to match you with other DLC owners but if you combine that with the low amount of people playing in X playlist then you find it to be pretty rare.
-
Pretty much what you said, they were removed to speed up matches because there was no doubt Reach would take a huge population drop once Halo 4 launched, just like Halo 3 did when Halo: Reach launched.
-
This confuses me, you say you rank up slower because you can’t access your DLC which in theory, would actually slow down your matching if matchmaking tried to prioritize it.
As for a refund, not hapening like you said.
- The playlists were removed because the populations in them were low, and would have been even lower after Halo 4 launched, resulting in slower matching times for you & the others who play in Matchmaking. 343i can see other statistics we can’t which they used to figure out which playlists should be removed.
As for the Eternal armour effect, it was Bungie’s final gift to the Halo community, if you missed it then you won’t be getting it, you had your chance back before 343i took full control and it isn’t 343i’s to give away.
I personally believe that a game never truly dies until the developer stops updating the game. Harder to do on 360 since Microsoft always asks for $40,000 bucks to do so, but Halo could be updated via the servers without needing to pay (unless I’m wrong in that area).
One thing I feared when Bungie would be giving control over to 343i is that they wouldn’t support it at all, or would support it in the wrong way. Both fears came true, an update that didn’t benefit Reach in favour of itself, and they dropped the game right after to focus on Halo 4.
