I Already Own Halo 3

What is something new and innovative you guys would like to see in the next Halo?

They’ve already confirmed 32 player Match Making (imagine the maps!) so I’m happy.

I can tell you one thing I don’t want: I don’t want there to be content in the game that can only be accessed via Google Glass or some other sort of smart device (Fable Anniversary did that … I’m not buying your gimmick, Fable!) Keep the game in the game.

How about you? Something NEW … I got another thread on here somewhere for things you’d like to see return, which apparently is Halo 3. It’s $7 at Gamestop, go get a copy and play online … it’s still all there. I want Halo 5 to be Halo 5.

I want a healthy community.
And most of us know how to get back there.

OP, you have to remember that there is a difference between copying and pasting something and taking something as a starting point.

The amount of people who want Halo 5 to be a copy/paste of Halo 3 are most likely the minority compared to those who want Halo 3 to be the starting point for Halo 5.

Does Halo 3 have next-gen technology behind it? Can I play it on my One? No.
Guess what else is 7 bucks, OP… COD. Har…

We don’t want Halo 3, we want a game that expands on the core and values of Halo 3.
We want competition and fairness back. We want cheapness and randomness gone.

When was 32 players confirmed? I must’ve missed it.

Ummmmm when was 32 player matchmaking confirmed?

We want 32 player matchmaking but it has yet to be confirmed.

We don’t want Halo 5 to feature Kinect or rely on Kinect as Kinect is a gimmick.

We want larger battles and more allies at a time fighting beside us.

We want a long Campaign with a deep and immersive storyline that makes us not want to leave our room till we finish the SP mode.

We want great visuals and smooth gameplay.

We want space combat.

We want something like the Spartan Ops to return.

We want Firefight.

We want more variety with weapon and vehicles.

We want a proper ranking structure that’s differentiates one player from the other.

We want a great soundtrack with plenty of bass.

We want plenty of lore to be implemented into the SP mode in the form of either terminals or PDAs that can be discovered.

We want Chief to reunite with a surviving Spartan II and fight at the least a one time battle together before separation.

I could think of more but it would never end :stuck_out_tongue:

I was a tad scared when you said increased player counts were confirmed. Phew, that wouldn’t be my cup of tea.

Anyways, personally I don’t think that Halo 5 shouldn’t be treated like something that has to be an improvement of just one game. I’d much prefer if 343 had the kind of mentality that involved improving on what Halo is as a whole which IMO means taking every game into account in order to create something that makes as many people happy as possible. I think that if it were done this way there’d be a lot more room for compromise. But that’s just me.

As an owner of an Xbox One, I can assure the people on these boards that Kinect is not a gimmick.

And I don’t see a problem with optional Kinect support.

They have not, no. I don’t know where you’ve gotten that idea, but it is false. The only thing they’ve confirmed regarding the next Halo game is that it will run at 60FPS and will have dedicated servers. We don’t even know a name yet.

Personally, I do not want 32 player matchmaking, 16 is, and always has been, just fine for a Halo game.

I’m not opposed to be features that are only accesible via SmartGlass, as long as they’re not major elements that are required to play the game. With Fable Anniversary, SmartGlass essentially worked as a secondary minimap, what’s so bad about that?

Nobody has ever said that they want Halo 3 back, if that’s what you believe then you’re clearly misunderstanding what people are saying. We want the next Halo to take the core gameplay elements from the original trilogy, and then build off of those. We want the next Halo game to be to Halo 3 what Halo 3 was to Halo 2, or what Halo 2 was to Halo 1. We want it to take what’s great about it and build on top of that. We don’t want a copy-paste of Halo 3, but we also don’t want a complete reinvention like Halo 4 that goes and completely destroys what Halo used to be.

Trust me, they have.

More power to us right?

I own Halo 3 too. If only people were playing it and the games weren’t laggy.

Custom Games Browser.
The return of ‘bungie favorites’.
Spartan Ops as its own co-op campaign instead of missions on repeating maps.

Customs browser would be cool, but then the playlists would be empty.

I was making a general statement, I apologize if it didn’t come off that way. Sure, some people want a copy-paste of Halo 3, but the great majority of classic/traditional supporters want a Halo that builds off of Halo 3 rather than a carbon copy.

> Customs browser would be cool, but then the playlists would be empty.

Well the only reason to have playlists to begin with is for skill-based matchmaking. I.e. it’s only useful for ranked play.

I’d rather be playing some guy’s awesome race/infection/etc mode than playing whatever bland race/infection/etc mode 343I pick and chose to put in their playlist. Not to mention honor rules are enforceable in customs but aren’t enforceable in matchmaking, leading to more possibilities.

If custom games are full while social playlists are empty, it just displays people prefer custom games to social playlists. I don’t see that as an issue. Give the community what they want, don’t shove -Yoink- on them.

Yet they rarely seem to bother elaborating what they want built off of Halo 3.

Where have you been? Many people on these forums have expressed exactly what starting points from Halo 3 they want the next Halo to be built upon.

Equal starts (no custom loadouts), no sprint, descope, in game skill ranks, equipment/AAs as map pickups with one-time-use, no bloom, etc.

The majority want the core of Halo 2/3 emulated into the future Halos. None of the gimmicky, CoD-esque garbage that is Halo 4.

Well, none of those sound innovative and different from Halo 3…

Well it sounds way better than what we’ll ever get from Halo 4.
