That the Guardians somehow destroy Spartan’s suit abilities? What I mean is, at the end of Halo 5 SPOILERS when Cortana activates the Guardian and it sends out that pulse, what if that could cause certain things to fail like electronics and things such as the Spartan Abilities we have in Halo 5?
I think that IF 343 decides to try and revert Halo back to it’s former state like with mechanics in the original trilogy, this would be a solid way to make it fit in to the lore since there is almost no way to turn back now without it not making sense or rebooting the series.
With the low sales of Halo 5 in comparison to say Halo 3 which launched in a similar window to the 360’s launch (2 years after), it could give 343 the incentive to try out classic Halo again to see how the community, new and old, react.
I personally love Halo 5’s gameplay even if the game itself has it’s shortcomings but it isn’t the Halo that I and many others fell in love with. I want Halo to stay relevant and have a booming community again more than any game but the road ahead just seems to be a path to it’s grave and it sucks because there still is no shooter on the market like Halo.
I’d like to have a civil discussion on my thoughts without people jumping down other’s throats. Let me know what you all think or if you can come up with a better solution.
If they decided to tie it in with the story, they could do something like that. I’ve thought about this before as well and thought that the explanation could be that the new armor is too easily tracked by Cortana or something, and they have to start using older versions that aren’t as high tech.
In all honesty though, if 343 reverts back to a classic Halo style of gameply, they probably won’t explain it in the story. They didn’t offer a story explanation for why Master Chief could suddenly start sprinting, use armor abilities, and could no longer dual wield in Halo 4. That was just suddenly how things were.

True, but those abilities certainly don’t help matters.
The over-the-top movement mechanics are the #1 reason I didn’t buy Halo 5 at launch and insisted on waiting until I could get a used copy. And I know I’m not the only one who didn’t buy the game new for those saw reasons.
For comparison, I waited in line at midnight on release day for Halo 2, Halo 3, ODST, Wars, Reach, Halo 4, and MCC. Halo 5 has broken that streak. Admittedly, H4 would have broken that streak of I had done proper research into it. I didn’t repeat that mistake with Halo 5.
My point is that the sprinting, clamber, thrusters, and ground pound have cost Halo 5 sales.

It’s just my opinion, but I think there would be more outrage if they did revert back than if they didnt.

Yeah that’s a good point. I don’t hate 343 but hate how they try to tie everything into the lore but don’t even explain their own additions.

The anti sprint crowd is far more passionate about their stance than the pro-sprint crowd. Just look at any of the threads about it. I guarantee the number of sales they lost by including it would not outweigh the number of sales they would lose by removing it.
I think i majority of halo 5 players like the abilities, though i personally turn off ground pound cause i want my air melee kills. As a result I dont see them reverting back, if hypothetically they did, i dont really see them finding a way to tie it in story wise, they could try for the guardian pulse though I think there a plenty of ways around that. eh who knows, we wont ever know since it most likely wont happen. Food for thought tho right lol

The amount of individual users on Waypoint is mostlikely dwarfed by the millions of people who bought the game and play it regardless of sprint.

Yeah it’s fun to speculate lol. I myself love Halo 5’s gameplay and I’ve been playing since 2001 but the Reach transition definitely put a dent in the series.
I’m going to touch on your “marketing” point. Halo 3 cane out at a time where, let’s be honest, Halo dominated the FPS and arena genre and there weren’t many conpetitiors. With the dominate presence of Call of Duty and some other games you have to get that you can’t keep looking backward and try to recreate the past. Halo has a very niche but strong and passionate following. It won’t disappear any time soon and it probably won’t be the juggernaught it once was, and that’s ok. Halo 5 is a step in the right direction to retaining and growing it’s fanbase . Don’t worry about sales abd population, play the games you like.

Yup. The people that are so passionate about hating sprint and all the new stuff are the same 12 people over and over. If 343 were revert back for H6, you won’t see H7.

What is this logic? Be careful with logic like this around here.

Oh you’re definitely right and I agree. I guess I just really miss the Halo 3 community. I don’t expect it to be the same but I want the newer generation to experience something like it. You can’t please everyone and I’m well aware of that. If Halo 6 can somehow perfect what Halo 5 is doing and add more like Halo 3 was to Halo 2 then that is probably the best outcome.

I felt like this, and so did my cousin, I remember the night we got MCC, he messaged saying why did I bother ? I felt the same, I love the original series, but I cannot play them online, they’re dated, they feel slow and heavy in comparison to Halo 5, in my opinion. I think 343 should put in a traditional playlist.
I think the new mechanics have brought in new blood but have done more harm then good but i like the direction the series is going and i think going back on new mechanics would harm more than help at this point.
