I have a few questions I would like to ask the community, based on a few scenarios.
-
There is an AFK on your team. Do you:
A) Carry him to victory.
B) Intentionally play badly for a loss.
C) HLG.
D) (your own answer)
-
There is a player who you know is an absolutely incompetent Halo player, and he picks up a sniper (which is the weapon you excel at). Do you:
A) Let him have a go (or let him fail, depending on how nasty you are).
B) Shoot and give away his location (assuming he’s not already exposed).
C) HLG near him so when he dies you can grab it.
D) (your own answer)
-
In a 1v1 using the (slightly broken) Infinity Settings, your friend pulls out a Damage-Boosted Incineration Cannon while you get Pulse Grenades and a Shotgun. Do you:
A) Soldier on.
B) Throw your controller and a javelin at your TV.
C) HLG.
D) (your own answer)
-
You are an objective player, always trying to win the match. You come across a full party in CTF which is spawn trapping you for a lot of kills. Do you:
A) Go for the flag anyway.
B) Find the guy on the longest streak and Boltshot him.
C) HLG.
D) (your own answer)
Pepper your angus for some truly spectacular answers.
> 1. A
> 2. A, how else will the player get better if they never use the weapon?
> 3. A

A team player? And one who actually tries to help other players? Damn, thought players like you didn’t exist anymore.
Also, as food for thought, try reversing each situation. If you were trash with the sniper and there was a brilliant sniper on your team, would you give the sniper to him?
> 1. A. I certainly attempt to carry an AFK to victory, but this pisses me off to no end. If I spawn or run by an AFK, I’ll punch them (provided we aren’t in the middle of action already), which occasionally gets the other player to stop -Yoink!- around and play again.
>
> 2. Mostly A. When a terrible player grabs the sniper, these types of players either run way too much out and expose themselves (easy death) or conversely NEVER move after their first round of shots (again, easy death). If they run out too much, I’ll use DMR to provide team shooting once he/she starts shooting; and if they are overly passive, I’ll just give the heck up and leave them to their own demise.
>
> 3. A but I definitely WANT to do B.
>
> 4. normally A. people on CTF just trying to pad K/D never give a crap when I ‘run off’ away from the combat zone. We can typically get the flag and get a decent ways back before even one or two of them decide to turn attention to the flag.
> If my team is incompetent and I literally can’t leave spawn point, I’d probably hide at flag spawn away from fire and protect the flag.
Why do all the team players exist solely on the forums and not in the actual game?
Also I can lend you my javelin if you want. The tip is still somewhere in my TV though :p.

1: A, this is depending on playlisy though. But generally A.
2: A, let him learn how to use it
3: A, no point in getting angry in the match and loose focus
4: A and B if they’re bad, otherwise D, I quit.
> 1. D: Play to victory and then report him/avoid him.
> 2. A, he got there first, he gets dibs. I may stick around to protect him.

I am inclined to agree.
Incompetent or not, he got the rifle. It is his, until he gets shot in the head.
Everyone is nicer than I thought.
How cute.
Also, I wasn’t really expecting anyone to answer B or C, I put that there because i was bored :p.
For me:
- D. I’ll camp the AFK and then kill the guys who come for him.
- D. I’ll get another sniper and pick up all his failed body shots.
- D. I usually only 1v1 friends, so I’ll boot him from the match for the lols :D. But if I wasn’t leader then I’d go with A.
- B. I’m a nasty guy >:D.
> Also, as food for thought, try reversing each situation. If you were trash with the sniper and there was a brilliant sniper on your team, would you give the sniper to him?
I’ve done it. I picked up a sniper in BTB, and couldn’t take out a camo enemy. I called out to a teammate and was willing to give him the sniper. That is the smart thing to do for the benefit of the team. (Of course when I dropped the sniper in front of him, a random player on my team (w/o a mic) swooped in and stole the sniper and ran straight towards the enemy with it. I swear that this actually happened)
As for the original question 1)A 2)A 3)A
- D. I always go into CTF w/ a full party to avoid this problem. But hypothetically…I would definitely say screw the OBJ and start picking up killjoys

First off what does HLG stand for?
-
D
It depends on what I’m playing. If its Spartan Ops, and he is AFK for the entire match, I will try to push him into battle. If its multiplayer I just ignore him.
-
A
He got it, and uses it.
-
A, and than when I die B
-
B, Sweet, sweet revenge

The only reason I play like a team player is because I play with friends almost all the time. When I play alone I try to do my best to play as I would with my friends but its harder with the lack of communication.
Yes Advocate, revenge is a dish best served AT POINT BLANK WITH A WEAPON THAT FIRES YELLOW BOLTS OF INSTAKILL.
And to answer your question, HLG stands for Hidden League Gaming which is where people use flaws in the map and with AAs to reach insane spots normally inaccessible, most of which are brilliant for hiding. There’s about 8 on Haven I know of. Exploring and trying to find HLG spots may also lead you to learning about new jumps or thruster boosts you can use in actual non-HLG gameplay.

Absolutely. I’ve done this before too. Either days when I really can’t find a rhythm, and there’s a buddy that I know is a great sniper, I’ll call in a sniper ordnance for him/her. I’ve also had times when I’m on a freaking roll with, say, UNSC sniper and get a beam or binary rifle. I’ll find a safe drop point with a buddy nearby and call it in to them. Then we become a 2 person wrecking machine!!

After that the game came to a standoff and although we lost 2 - 3 it was a fun game.
Coming from a person who used to spawn trap (you can make what you want of it, I don’t play anymore so I don’t really care) I can tell you two guys on Mongooses are irritating to kill, especially because if you miss a power weapon shot in all likelihood the Mongoose will do a messed up flip and you’ll never know where to shoot. And the Mongoose is small and fast already so it can outrun some spawn traps (<3 Railgun on Complex though, Mongooses never escape).

The lack of solo-searching communicators like you is one reason I never play this game anymore.
I really do suggest playing in a party as much as possible, if not all the time, as it improves teamwork a lot. Communication-wise, call out as much as possible.
> 1. D, Betray him every time I cross his path to further tank his K/D. Don’t start a game if you aren’t going to play.
> 2. A
> 3. A
> 4. D, Stay at base and defend.
I didn’t really specify this but I sort of meant it as Halo 4 exclusive, so no betrayals. But I see where you are coming from and if this was any other Halo, I’d do the same.
Keep up the AFK betrayals anyway
