Hypothetical: If Halo 5 actually came to PC...

Yes, another one of these threads, sort of.

I’ve always been indifferent when it came to this topic about Halo 5 being added to PC, but it wasn’t until the announcement of Halo 5 Forge coming to windows 10 where it really just how much I want to play Halo 5 with my PC friends. None of them are going to get an Xbox, they aren’t hardcore Halo fans, but it’s a game they would definitely get and play if it was on PC.

That said, even though there’s no chance of it happening (sorry, but that’s basically it how it is, I believe) how would it work if it did happen? Specifically when it comes to the concept cross platform multiplayer, Xbox to Windows 10. If Halo 5 came to PC and it had cross platform multiplayer, would that be a good thing or a bad thing? A keyboard and mouse is much easier for most people in comparison to a Xbox Controller with aim assist, so would it be that much of an unfair advantage to the point where it could potentially ruin the game? If so, what are ways to prevent that? What would be the benefits of it coming to PC? Why should it not? General brainstorming about the idea.

For some reason the thought has really interested me today with the announcement about Forge that was made. I’m interested to hear people’s thoughts on the matter.

Pros:
-Custom Map Support
-Modding Support
-Server Browser, Personal Dedicated Servers, Communities around these servers.

Neutral
-Impacts of KB/M on skillgap and game design(?)

Cons:
-Unequal hardware.
-Games for Windows Live has been disbanded, and it was absolutely terrible anyways.
-The Windows Store isn’t much more desirable.
-Most PC gamers use Steam, which probably wouldn’t be compatible with cross-platform play.

I see your point with the unequal hardware, but as for the rest, i’m confused. What does the store it’s in have to do with whether or not it’s good or bad? I’m not arguing i’m just wondering.

That would be pretty tremendous, I think. Mouse precision is second to none. Especially Gaming KB&M combos (special buttons on either). There’s no way a gamepad can compete equally with KB&M.

Think of the store like a platform in the same way Xbox and PS are platforms.

In the modern day all l the friend list, group, etc. functions are tied to the delivery platform usually, and some platforms (steam) are far more popular on PC than others.

But a purchase of Halo 5 would probably require usage of a Microsoft account, an Xbox Live account accessed by the Xbox app.Everything that would be needed is through that app. I understand what you mean though.

If it is not a steam game it’s not a perfect PC game.

PC master race would be all over us…

Been pondering playing it on PC, and cant imagine how i would control all my spartan abilities using mouse keyboard, could be done ofc, but not as intuitive or fluid as using the controller i think.

Its not hypothetical. Its coming…

Well custom games for PC, no match making though

Any halo game which we
dont have on pc would be nice

*PC Mustard Rice.

I would love for a Halo game to come to pc, I actually preform better with a m/kb compared to a controller, I’ve used 3rd party hardware to use a m/kb on xb1 but unfortunately it means I’m simulating a controller with a m/kb and that doesn’t work all that well, especially with stupid aim assist

I’m excited because i will be able to make forge maps during my lunch at school, then transfer them over to my xbox and play at home

I don’t think halo 5 would have cross platform matchmaking. custom games probably, But definitely not matchmaking.
If it were to have PC players and XBONE players in the same matchmaking games there would be quite a large disconnect in aiming, and PC players would probably dominate just because they have access to mouse.
A solution could be enabling KB/M controls on the XBONE version itself, but I don’t think that will ever happen.

Ahh yes, mods. There are still mods being made for halo C.E I believe. Imagine a modded Halo 5…there will be no need for “free updates” we can put and do what we want. Invasion as prometheans? Sure. UNSC air vehicles? Yep. No need to constantly beg 343 on the forums on the minimum things a halo game should have, when modders can do it themselves.

a verdade que um jogo deve ser competido sempre na mesma plataforma pc x pc e xbox one x xbox one para nao dar vantagem a ninguem

Modding and Forge are not the same thing what-so-ever. Also, a custom map, a truly custom map means control over everything, not placing a few pre-made objects. Forge is Fisher-Price, the Halo Editing Kit is the real deal, both Halo PC 1 & 2 came with actual editing kits. This is going backwards, this is less options and less customization. :frowning:

The reason people still mod Halo: Custom Edition is because of the HEK (Halo Editing Kit), provided by none other then Gearbox Software.
