Hyperbolic Claims and How They Define Us

Honestly guys, the world is going to end if you don’t stop turning every thread you make into complete, total, and absolute hyperbole to the point where everyone, everywhere looks down on fans of Halo, FPSs, and video games in general due to our excessive use of hyperbole all the time.

When every single thread is “We need four-shot-kill BR.” and “the game will be broken without _______”, it looks worse than anything else possible. Halo 4 is going to be the best game ever without all of these little changes and stuff that you guys are always suggesting about everything. Despite all the absolutely terrible nit-picking comments you guys made about Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, they were both good games that were received amazingly by everyone else other than you guys.

In very, very, extremely shot summation: you guys absolutely have to stop with all the hyperbolic statements about Halo 4. It’s the worst thing ever.

Halo 3 was my favourite game ever, Reach was my second favourite and I’ve been playing Halo from the start, the only problem I had was the grey forge and armour lock in MM.

People just want to complain as they require some amount of attention. But if somebody can discuss his/her problems civil, that’s fine but yeah, I agree. People need to stop saying “We need…” and stuff like that. There will be classic playlists so I’m fine with it. Spartan Ops looks so fun and is open to so much possibilities. The amount of replay value in Halo 4 is looking great.

What this thread should be called;

The word Hyperboles and how they define us…americans.

BOOM.

BTW you contradicted yourself by using a hyperbole in your first sentence.

DOUBLE BOOM.

I agree Op
For some reason, I seem to be perfectly happy with all Halo 4 information announced so far.

Also, Somewhere I heard that they will be having playlists with the original settings… (Weapons on Map, No Classes, No Weapon Drops, Etc) Which will probably be a popular playlist among people who do not like the new features. Which is perfectly fine, everyones opinion should be valid.

I think he meant to do that…

> little changes.

You really think changing the br from 5 shot to 4 shot is a little change? It strips .4 seconds off the kill time. That’s .4 seconds per kill. Not only that, it’s about .4 seconds slower than the dmr and carbine. It would be a worthless weapon at 5 shots.

I used a hyperbole in every single sentence in the OP to make a point. Your “BOOM” is invalid.

Thank you!

Seriously, why can’t people make their points in a civil way? It doesn’t help ANYONE to get all up ‘n’ arms over every single thing that they see…

Hell, I’d even settle for someone making a point without saying competitives are jerks or casuals suck.

Can’t we at least TRY to get along?

Yeah, right. Who am I kidding? Screw it, I’m just gonna go play Just Cause 2…

Yes. It is a little change. To the average person playing Halo, a 4sk BR is almost exactly the same as a 5sk BR. Not even just casual players, but the average player.

They don’t notice the difference because the average person doesn’t kill people in the minimum amount of shots.

It is a little change.

And I recognize that this is a Halo Forum meant to discuss these kinds of littler (as well as larger scale) aspects of the game, but all of these hyperbolic are incredibly immature and make Halo fans and gamers alike look incredibly immature.

It hurts the community of which I belong to.

You know, I was talking with a group at my university at how proud I am that racism is really going away, and I live in a deep south bible belt city.

Then people like you come along. Pathetic.

You are implying that you speak for every average Halo player. You don’t. I don’t either.

On the main subject though, I do agree. People make the one thing they want sound important in an attemp to get it.

The amount of hyperbole a lot of threads have is disturbing. What’s more disturbing is that people might believe the hyperbole to be true.

If someone cared a lot about the 4SK BR or Halo in general and wanted to talk about how it should be changed or kept the same or whatever, wouldn’t you think they’d come here to discuss it? That makes sense, right?

There are less than 60,000 people who’ve ever posted on these forums, and even less who’ve ever talked about the BR. Assuming Halo 4 will be at LEAST as popular as Halo 3 at its height with at least 8 million North American sales, and then lets assume that 6 million of those people play online. That’s about 5,998,000 most likely English-speaking people who play Halo online and yet do not come on here to discuss the importance of the 4SK BR. That’s the average halo player. Those 5,998,000 people are the average Halo players.

But on topic, you’re right. Just because someone dislikes something doesn’t meant they have to make it seem like it’s the most important thing in the world. Most people don’t care about it and won’t be affected by it at all.

I haven’t gone to English class in a while, does comparing Halo to sewage count as a hyperbole?

> I haven’t gone to English class in a while, does comparing Halo to sewage count as a hyperbole?

Pretty sure it does… I mean, I’ve seen less called Hyperbole.

(Also, your profile pic is the most buffed-up Chief has ever looked. For that, you get a cookie and an energy drink with the Heroic difficulty logo on it!)

It’s a gaming forum. I’ll post criticism if I want to OP, get over yourself.

> It’s a gaming forum. I’ll post criticism if I want to OP, get over yourself.

That’s not what a Hyperbole is, and nothing I posted has anything to do with making criticisms. I’ll get over myself when you learn how the English language works, buddy.
