You probably know that unless you smart link, the hydra is a steaming dog turd of a weapon that will struggle to deal damage to enemies even if they’re standing in front of your face. While sitting in a passenger seat, smart link is not accessible. Being able to use it while on the back of a mongoose or side seat of the warthog would be fantastic and could even be used for the presumably upcoming race gametype where everyone is on mongooses (mongeese?) or in warthogs. Multi team rocket race would benefit from the locked on missiles adding to he mayhem, even though they don’t do too much damage to vehicles.
“Oh no it would be unfair/unbalanced!” How often is the scout warthog, standard mongoose or the passenger on both ever a threat? Barely ever. Give it a second longer to lock on or something I don’t know, the missiles fly into walls if the target moves behind them and I’ve seen them miss if the target thrusters at the right time, knowing or not.
Whaddya think?
hydras being a targeting based weapon would add too much defense to any vehicle. anything a turret on the warthog couldn’t get the hydra would.
Honesty, I’ve never understand why would can’t zoom in while in shotgun. Your a 7 foot+ tall “super solider” per say. I’m pretty sure they could zoom in while sitting there. I’m all for this.
Also the hydra is garbage unless it’s on a big map or the person doesn’t see you. Too bad you couldn’t shoot the rockets, then zoom in to lock them on. That would make it better or once they are locked on, they are locked. Right now if I get unzoom, my rockets don’t lock anymore… kind of garbage weapon in a way. VERY situational…
Mongi I think is correct but yes, it really should lock on considering it’s so weak…

Keep in mind, hydra ammo in actual matchmaking serious warzone/btb will be very limited (18 i think, 6 loaded 12 in reserve) and with the hydra, 2 hits=kill but not all missiles hit their target.
I do see what you mean though.
The hydra with smart link would be fun to use in a vehicle. But the passenger would have to be viewing first person like in Halo 1 making a challenge which I think will be fun.
