Hydra on Regret is OP

Now bear with me here. I like the Hydra. I’ve missed heat-seeking ever since Halo 2, and I love love love having more than two shots. That said, the Hydra is the only power weapon on Regret specifically (or at least it is on Team BRs, the only mode we’ve gotten to play), and it is not only ranged, but heat-seeking. Someone in a thread on BR starts said:

And I can’t help but think it’s because half the matches we play are in a map that has only the Hydra. Map control will be built around it, and a smart team will grab it first and hold onto it as long as they can. Truth is balanced because the only power weapon is the Prophet’s Bane, so you have to get close to get a ridiculous OP kill. Empire and Eden have multiple sniper rifles (I think, or maybe Eden has sniper and sword), so unless a team goes full derp, they can grab a sniper as easily as the other team and be on a level playing field.

Opening on Regret entirely centers on taking the Hydra, but the team that loses that fight is punished hard for it and won’t get a chance to come back for another three or four minutes. I’m not sure how to balance that; just throwing a couple shotguns in would be a balanced but bad idea IMO, but you guys are smart and can figure it out, I bet. Anyway that’s my two cents re: Hydra on Regret.

Avoiding the Hydra is actually pretty easy. Even if it has a Lock on, There is plenty of geometry to thrust behind and avoid the missiles that are locked onto you.

I personally couldn’t hit anything with the Hydra on Regret. I think that’s because the map is just so all over the place. On a slightly more open map such as Orion, I dominated.

I saw a lot of people just not know how to utilize the Hydra. It’s easy to take cover if they are directly aiming at you and locking on that way and firing…
But a good player knows how to lock on and then arch the shot into the air so that it comes down over the cover.

I thought power weapons were supposed to be, well, overpowered.
