HW2 in my opinion might have the best story yet.

I’m so hyped for this game the story is absolutely amazing so far. Also cutscenes are beautiful i want to see that kind of detail in the main series. Atriox is by far the best villain ever in the halo series i’ve always hated the bad guys and been pro UNSC, but I’m loving Atriox even though i’ve always really hated brutes lol. I’m really excited to see how this ties into the cortana story line. What are your thoughts about so far? PS be constructive if you put negative comments plz

I have a feeling that the infinity will show up at the end of the final act of the story. Most likely halo wars 2 will attempt to remain contained and separate from the main story to try to help set up the events in halo 6. In the DLC we will probably drive the bannished from the ark and drake it for the UNSC so that we can have a staging post for the assault on created occupied worlds.

Honestly? I can’t find myself being excited for the story at all. I mean, look at Halo 5. The advertising for that game was phenomenal, and it looked like we were going to get the absolute best story in the whole franchise. The Master Chief going rogue? Strange signals from deep space? What wasn’t there to be excited about?

But then… Once the game came out, the story proved to be absolutely awful, and the biggest disappointment in the series. If there was one thing that I learned by playing Halo 5, it was to not have high hopes for any future game by 343i (I know that Creative Assembly are the main developers, but 343i is clearly in charge of the story). I’m expecting the story to be downright awful, so I’ll either not have my expectations be shattered, or I’ll be pleasantly surprised. The only reason I’m even buying this game is because the gameplay felt nice enough to be worth my time, despite being a relatively simple RTS.

The beauty of many RTS games is that they have amazing stories. I personally thought HW 1 was a great RTS with a great story, so I’m definitely going to be excited for HW2’s story. But I can understand your suspicion and doubt.

I’m more excited for this game then halo 5, but i can see where your coming from.

Maybe wait until you’ve actually experienced the story before dropping such high praise…

Oh, I agree completely. Halo Wars 1 was amazing, and so many of my favourite games, story-wise, are RTS games. And Halo Wars 2’s story does look great. I just want to make sure to not let myself get fooled again, you know?

There is no way it’s gonna be worse than halo 5 mate, and I and many others were sceptical about h5’s story before released and we were still disappointed.

It probably won’t be, but I don’t expect any story after Halo 5 to be good. I mean, the whole plot of Halo 5 left the series in a direction that is far from original or special. Cortana is back from the dead and is now evil and ruling the galaxy? With AI that suddenly decided “you know what? Screw our friends that take care of us, let’s just go kill humanity now” for no reason. Even if Atriox and the Banished are completely awesome, which I’m sure they will be, any appearance from Cortana and/or the Created will make me roll my eyes and dislike the game a bit more, because that particular idea is just bad.

I dunno, if anything, Halo 5 shows me that 343i just doesn’t understand Halo and what made it interesting. They had a great set up with Halo 4 and could have taken so many interesting turns, but they went with Cortana as a villain… I dunno, I hope I’m wrong, but I can’t afford to be optimistic about any future Halo game.

I think the perceived issue with Halo 5 (and likely the continued issue that I had with Halo Reach), was the attempt to transition the protagonist away from Master Chief and the Spartan II’s. I think 343 was probably testing the ‘market’ for new protagonists, and maybe thinking of ‘retiring’ 117. Playing Halo 5, I wanted more Blue team. Who cares about Osiris. Buck was the only guy I liked, but that was because of Halo ODST, and the expanded story Halo: New Blood.

I think that they did a great job with Gears 4, but Marcus was still a central character. However Halo and Master chief is synonymous, and I think attempting to change that is doomed to fail. I think most of us enjoy the lore, and the many exploits of all the original Spartan II’s, and thus expanding the halo universe with tangential stories works well. I would agree with most, that the story telling (essentially the cut scenes) for most RTS games traditionally have been excellent, so I do have high hopes for Halo Wars 2.

It would be interesting if they actually end the campaign as a lead into Halo 6. I would guess no, but you never know.

In all fairness it was a rampant part of cortana that survived.

I will agree i wanted more Blue team its been a Halo fan boys dream to see them in the game series only to play three missions and not see them use there traits like Kelly’s speed or Linda’s zen no thought sniping. Also buck was awesome plus i really liked Vale. Its another thing that will make HW2 awesome because its just SII Red team.

this is the part that pisses me off when people say she survived and turned evil. No she did not she died and its one of her split personalities that survived that is evil.

she split to stop the didact its really like how in rvb the alpha split into multiple parts each with different personalties. The Cortana in halo 5 is nothing more then a fragment.

its really not that hard to understand.

And thats how to ruin an awesome Universe

imo Cortana is a way better villain than Atriox. Atriox just seems to be a generic overpowered bad guy, while Cortana actually has a personal back story.

and btw there will likely not be any crossover between HW2 and H6, as it seems like their stories will take place at the same time, but in different places.
