I read it will have one. Really unlike Halo, H5 didn’t have one and we got stuff like it did. Kind of makes me worried about future Halo games…
Unlike Halo 4 (which to my knowledge was the only game to have season pass that was multiplayer only), Halo Wars 2’s Season pass is so far extra units, leaders, multiplayer maps and exclusive campaign missions.
While it is odd that they would go back to a paid DLC scheme, but I prefer it this way as I know it is going to be good quality stuff, unlike H5’s “free” updates.
Looks like there will be a season pass, as well as another add-on.
I don’t mind DLC, provided it doesn’t split the player base.

Well that really sucks. Obviously wont be buying it, I think season passes are a disgusting practice. I wonder how they’re going to handle it if they’re adding new units and leaders? Surely they have incentive to create overpowered leaders in order to make people want to buy the DLC. Make it too strong so that people will be encouraged to buy it then nerf them later after they’ve made their money. I can’t trust them to truly balance their game if they have such an incentive to abuse it. They may not be malicious in their intention but even sub consciously it’s going to be there. Leaders and units need to be free, there’s no getting around it. Not unless each faction gets new units and leaders. But now you would have to have DLC players play separately and you can’t afford the split the community like starcraft.
Games still 8 months out but the corporate greed is strong with 343i. Planning already to keep content out to make more $$$. Sad state for games these days. I’ll wait to buy the complete edition for half the price.

I can see where you are coming from, but it isn’t just 343 behind this game. Putting an extra $20 (at least in my region for the Ultimate Edition) on top of the standard is fine by me, buying the DLC separately would be 2-2.5x on what you pay for the season pass.

If you buy the season pass you get all future Downloadable Content (DLC) for no extra charge, usually if you buy DLC separately it costs way more than it would if you had the season pass
Mention “season pass” and watch everyone lose their minds.
Complete game with paid extras > incomplete game with free dlc.
I really hope not, unless it’s included with the game i might buy it because i really don’t want a season pass
I’m not s fan of seaso pass. I hoped it would be free dlc with optional payment stuff.

So essentially we have to buy the dlc, awesome time to pull out my money I was going to use for a better computer.

Yes, the season pass is permanent and no need for it to be renewed. I am uncertain if all the DLC (as in they have a road map of what DLC is planned and included as of now, more packs maybe added at a later date) will be included. Generally they give a 6 month window for the DLC to be released (kind of like how H5 is doing its free updates monthly), beyond that, I have no clue of what is being released.
Edit: Getting the season pass also doesn’t give you the DLC right away, you still have to wait for it to be released in time, it only lets you get it without making a separate purchase (think of it as a VIP ticket).

Why wait? If you’re a prime member you can get the ultimate edition on Amazon for 60 bucks. Basically buying a new copy and getting all the DLC for free.
This is the rare occasion I won’t mind buying the dlc, as I know I’ll be getting a 1000 hours plus out of the game. RTS is my favorite genre and halo wars is the only show in town on console. I’m hoping the maps are free as not to divide the user base.
I don’t see the big deal with Season passes. I like this game and I want all its DLCs because it is so fun = I buy Season Pass.
If I don’t like this game that much, and I will only buy the DLCs if they are on discount or are a really really good deal = I don’t buy Season Pass
