HW2 feels alot more like Halo then H5G

I don’t know what they did, it’s likely the music but the game feels actually like a Halo game despite it being a totally different genre from the original trilogy. I hated the original Halo Wars because it wasn’t really a strategy game it was just the person with the bigger army won every engagement which wasn’t strategy it was baby town frolicking.

As a proud member of the RTS community it felt like an insult and I’m happy to see Halo Wars 2 attempt to be better. Perhaps that’s why it feels better, there doesn’t seem to be unnecessary changes to a game design that doesn’t need much fixing. All Halo Wars OG needed was a better focus on strategy, not Spartan Charge of ADS. It feels like an evolution instead of whatever word scientists use to explain random genetic changes.

It brings back a beloved design and adds a twist to many of them and it seemingly refines Gow 4’s microtransaction system which IMO wasn’t too bad besides the crazy price tags TC would throw around for the items.

Honestly, I feel like if this game does well, after Halo 6 which I know will be a bore with the Story Halo 5 forced into our faces, we shouldn’t have an Halo FPS, it was perfected along ago, Halo should do what it did the best and that was revolution. Halo CE and 2 both brought something new to the world. One being the perfection of Console FPS the otehr being it’s ascension into online play. Halo 3 refined those two features and problems started appearing with Reach because there wasn’t much more of a stride to aim for just being Halo.

Halo Wars one despite my hatred for the game almost did what Halo CE did by popularizing console RTS. Certainly many other games felt it was possible after Halo Wars one because sevearl console exclusive RTS game started popping up after it and all failing…looking at you Supreme Commander 2 you traitor. So it atleast brought alot of attention to the market and Halo Wars 2 has a massive step ahead of those games because one, people liked HW1, 2 it has a legacy and 3 it’s not a bad game. SO high hopes for Halo Wars 2 and I hope that this isn’t the last time we see these designs, hear such great music and for me to feel like a halo game is Halo.

So, as a giant cockroach told me, goodbye and have a good time.

P.S. Also the game has a heavy focus on being under attack by an enemy with every advantage which is just vintage Halo right there.

I agree. I’m really excited to see what the story brings and I love the art style. I will definitely be pre-ordering it.

I agree completely. Plus, having Jeff Steitzer as the announcer is a huge bonus as well. Without him, a game doesn’t quite feel like Halo.

Think the announcer does the trick very well.

Isn’t he also the O.G. announcer?

The word scientists use is mutation. Anyhow it does feel like Halo more than H5. I would agree that they should at least take a break from fps titles but it will never happejn as that is the big market right now.

Let`s vote the Halo Wars 2 art style into Halo 6!

He’s the one who has been announcing multiplayer since Halo 1, yes. But now that 343i replaced him almost completely in Halo 5, by putting some other random announcer in Arena alongside him and replacing him completely with Palmer in Warzone, it’s missing a crucial part of the classic Halo vibe.

Blitz starting in 3, 2, 1…

Yoink yeahhh Halo is backkkk

Oh…well I have Buck for my announcer so Halo 5 has more of an Halo ODST vibe for me now.

I’m happy by merely looking at the backround slideshow screen of HW2. The more classic models, especially of the Spartan, are really refreshing and remind me of a simpler yet more unique and distinguishable Halo design, especially after playing with ugly Halo 5 armor and disgusting meh robot enemies.

jeff as the announcer is great as well

Definitely agree. HW2 feels much more Halo than H5. The music, graphics, etc are all a part of it. Halo just needs to be more gritty and less plastic.
