SPOILERS
During the announcement of Halo Wars 2, we were introduced to a new faction called ‘The Banished’ with their leader being Atriox. I was amazed at the new villain for a few reasons.
- The return of Brutes
- A villain that brings new fear to the UNSC
- His own banished tech, which brings that old school Halo look back to life
After finishing the campaign, I needed a couple of days to understand what I was feeling. I was shocked that there were only 27 minutes of cutscenes, and that we never got to see or fight Atriox in the game. I’ve come to the conclusion that 343i executed the campaign outstandingly perfect. For starters, After completing the campaign, we can all safely say that the next main Halo game in the series will have a lot to do with the Spirit of Fire crew, and Atriox. We speculate that the Halo ring we see at the end of Halo 5 is from the Ark, and the Guardian at the end of HW2 is most likely being controlled by cortana.
Let me explain why I thought the campaign was done perfectly. Atriox is too good of a villian to be killed off into the next game, and I hope they dont go down the same path as Jul M’dama. Many players going into the next Halo game will not have as much knowledge of Atriox as the people who played this game, So for them to go in depth with Atriox would leave a good portion of Halo players confused about who he is, and why he is doing the things he is. I like to think of this game as more of a back story, or prequel, to the next Halo game.
Please let me know what you guys think? I usually don’t do posts like this, but I feel like I have to give credit to 343 for this one. This campaign was amazing to me
