Found this video on youtube and thought it might be interesting to discuss here
I’m not going to copy and paste that because I’m 99% sure it’s late night gaming. Don’t even tell me it’s late night gaming. I’ll make a lazy link for you, but I swear, if it’s …
I thought his video was extremely compelling
Be honest you didn’t find anything people have been peddling that lame video for awhile now.

Right, sure, but 2 things:
-
it’s all speculation
-
what can we do about it at this point? All we can do is hope they learn from it and start working hard to make Halo 6 awesome.
Oh bro, you’re a little late. This spread like wild fire when it first came out and there was a ton of mixed view points and a lot of locked threads. Have you watched Late Night Gaming’s video asking if what he did was right? The guy has caught so much flak I guess he is pulling out for a while. It’s some real life #huntthetruth stuff man.
As for the original argument, it all seems very similar to what happened with Bungie and Activision with Destiny. But at the end of the day, all we can do is move on, and hope that the powers that be realize that they need to create a good Halo 6. The great thing about the free market is that if people don’t like the product, they won’t buy it. If they don’t buy it, the company will do what they can to improve the product. I think that all of the feed back that they have received from the community will help them to improve the next installment. At least one can hope.

- Exactly! It’s true. Even if the guy is telling the truth, what if he was fed false information without knowing? He may have a piece but not the whole picture.
- 100% Agree.

I agree with you about the similarities to Destiny. I disagree with you about the free market part, the video game industry is no where near a free market (nothing really is). We were operating with no near perfect information about Halo 5, the advertising/marketing surrounding H5 painted a completely different picture about what the campaign actually was. I do agree with the your overall point though that consumers should not buy games they like and developers should learn from that.
Did rewrites and other changes happen in Halo 5? Almost certainly, but that happens all the time in various forms of media.
Could Microsoft have had a hand in some of the more negative issues facing Halo like the MCC and Halo 5’s story? Probably for the former, doubtful for the latter. Seriously, I can’t imagine what it would look like for MS to have Cortana removed for her app and then force 343 to make her the villain. There isn’t much logic behind that situation even if you think MS is evil.
LNG hasn’t said anything different than a lot of people already knew and they didn’t need anonymous “ex-343” employees to tell them. Frankly, I feel people latch onto these videos is because it removes any real incentive to think. Everybody loves a good conspiracy, but dwelling on that and talking about how bad MS is or how bad 343 is won’t fix Halo. Want to make a difference? Constructively criticize the game. Don’t say you have the 100% gospel truth when you have speculation, don’t try to start drama with other Halo YouTubers because they aren’t hoping on your bandwagon, just show where the flaws with Halo 5 are. If you point out flaws that MS may have contributed to, that’d give 343 ammo to use against MS to show, “Look, we know you mean well, but your contributions didn’t fare well with the fans and next time it could but into profits.” If MS didn’t have their hands in the game like LNG claims, then you’ll allow 343 to know what worked and what didn’t.
Will we ever know if our feedback mattered? Can’t say, but you won’t get anywhere the LNG way.

I’m responding mainly to your second paragraph with this post. I don’t think what he described in his video if true should be defined as a “conspiracy”. “Corporate” sending down orders to developers is nothing new in this case it confirms what many people were already thinking. What’s troubling with halo is fans have been critiquing the game for so long and those critics seem to fall on deaf ears of both Microsoft and 343
Already plenty of active topics that have and are discussing this right now
