In this thread I will be posting daily, and possibly (If need be) hourly recaps of the #HUNTtheTRUTH ARG, so that everyone can stay in the loop without have to drudge through all the tedious work of selling your soul to the ARG God.

Everything posted within this thread will be verified, and confirmed by your resident SEC3 Operatives, so you know the sources won’t be in shambles, and you know we’ve got the experience to deliver everything you need to know, as we know it-- It’ll be right in your eyeballs, as I post it. Literally.

You won’t get any type of spin on the news, and we promise to post to this thread the moment we can refine our thoughts into coherent sentences, and paragraphs. We’re a trustworthy bunch of cryptologists, developers, writers, editors, and professional nerds; We hope that’s sufficient enough… If not, our credentials are pretty good too. Remember all those glyphs that you used to enter onto Waypoint for all those cool pieces of armor, and EXP? That was us, bleeding decodes from our fingers after a day of hard work on encoded messages. This is hard work, that we’re willing to do-- For free!

Let me tell you a little bit of a summary as to what exactly #HUNTtheTRUTH is, and why we’re all so extremely excited about it… It’s almost like we’re all a bunch of busy little buzzing bees.

On March 19th, 2015 a website was discovered with a countdown ticking down to what appeared to be around 9 PM Eastern Standard Time; This website (Being huntthetruth.tumblr.com) was found via three Twitter posts:

That was all for the first day. On the second day, we discovered a video, and a second part of the map, which has now been disclosed as a fake. On the third day the timer counted down to zero, and gave us a cleaned up version of the video-- We found 11 words etched onto the bullet: SON, ABDUCTEE, VICTIM, ORPHAN, RECRUIT, SOLDIER, WARRIOR, ALLY, HERO, SAVIOR, and TRAITOR. We also found the full version of the map that we had been piecing together for the previous two days.

And that’s where this thread comes in.

|A little over three days ago our newest favorite website HUNTtheTRUTH.tumblr.com started counting down… That countdown hit 00.00.00 last night. This is an over dramatic retelling of what happened afterwards|

Sorry, I’m just kidding about the drama, you won’t be getting any from this post; But, you’ll be getting all the facts, verified and confirmed by your friendly neighborhood glyph crypto’s, SEC3.

After huntthetruth.tumblr.com’s countdown timer reached zero last night, the page updated to its current form, which would be best described as a blog for Benjamin Giraud to tell us all the secrets of the lucratively secretive Master Chief’s recently very secret secretive history, that we know very little about.

Benjamin Giraud was then confirmed to be the “Photographer” from the short story in the “Halo Graphic Novel” called “Second Sunrise Over New Mombasa”.

"When you’re a war journalist, you see a lot of horrible stuff. All the stories I’ve done-- I’ve seen the absolute worst of humanity; But I’ve also gotten to seen the best. Six years ago, I saw him. The greatest, most mysterious hero of our time, up-close in action. I witnessed, first hand, what he did that day, and it changed everything for me. Anyone listening to this knows exactly who I’m talking about. The guy who saved us, saved Earth, saved mankind: Master Chief Petty Officer SPARTAN-117, whom we now know as simply ‘the Master Chief’.

A few months ago I was hired to do an in-depth profile on the Chief–exclusive access, the whole thing–since then, I’ve gotten to talk with a lot of people who claim they know the real Master Chief; the boy, the soldier, the hero… the traitor? See, I’ve always known where the story was going before it started. I’d known exactly the story I wanted to tell for years, the story all of us wanted to hear-- glossy, inspiring, the blockbuster hero biography. That’s all this was supposed to be, but the truth isn’t always that clean.

When I pulled that first loose thread, something broke. Now everything is caving in and I find myself stuck with all these ugly questions, questions I never intended to ask-- Fabricated histories? People who aren’t who they say they are? Cover-ups of cover-ups? That steady drumbeat of theories that used to sound insane, now they don’t seem so ‘out there’; And these disturbing rumors, reports of anomalies. Something big is happening in deep space, and I can’t even corroborate a single fact about one man’s life. It’s clear to me now. I can’t fix the pretty story, but maybe I can break the ugly one.

For the first time in my career I can honestly say I don’t know the shape of where is this is going. And in fact, th–the possibilities have me lying awake at night. But I believe we all deserve to know the real story; We need to know where this leads. I know I do.

So I find myself back at the beginning. Who is the Master Chief? Where does he come from? And he is keeping us safe?

On the page we found a cleaner version of the video we received the other day, of Master Chief’s (Supposedly) helmet being shot by a sabot round, fired from a UNSC sniper rifle. His helmet shatters into a million little pieces, and we know little more-- Except that there’s words written on the bullet! Eleven words to be exact:

We’re relatively positive that the words are descriptive’s of the Master Chief, and his life. He’s a son of someone, abducted at the age of five, a victim of a horrible crime, orphaned by his captors, recruited into the military, to become a soldier, a warrior, an ally, a hero, a savior… A traitor.

Outside the video however, we found the FULL image that we’ve been trying to piece together for days:

We’re not sure what the image is yet, but we certainly have a few theories if anyone is interested. There’s a few possibilities, it could be a star map, an crystalline element, either Ruthenium 44, or Radium 88, or an ugly 3D model of something. At this time however, we’re not sure if it’s any of them, but feel free to explore!

We checked the HTML, the source, ect, of everything on the page, and it’s all clean. We did everything we could feasibly do to the audio clip, and again, nothing, it was clean. There’s nothing encoded in anything on the page, at least that we’ve found yet.

Keep your eyes open, you never know what you’ll find if you just dig deep enough.

Anyway, first of all, I’m shocked that somebody made an elaborate sequence of hidden numbers that didn’t end with “Half-Life 3 Confirmed!”.

|The fabled HUNTtheTRUTH.tumblr.com countdown has been at 00.00.00 for over a day now, but has anything changed? No, nothing has changed, everyone go home now; Nothing to see here|
That’s not completely true however, because we do have some news, so don’t go away too fast! It might not be what you were expecting, but a live action trailer was announced yesterday, and it will be displayed alongside the season finale for “The Walking Dead,” which will be airing this upcoming Sunday, the 29th of March 2015, at 9 PM Eastern Standard Time, on AMC.

The trailer will also be available online after its airing within its television spot.

We’re told that the trailer will be based around the story of Halo 5: Guardians, and that it will be showing “both sides of the story,” it certainly sounds quite interesting to say the least.

Benjamin Giraud’s next podcast will also be airing on the 29th, and is expected to air at the same time as “The Walking Dead” finale. At this time, we’re expecting the podcast to be named “Son,” and it may possibly talk about Chief’s backstory as a child.

Finally, I’d like to talk about the “star map” image from earlier. Within <ONI.SEC3> we’re almost positive that it is just an interesting background image, meant to conjure up the thought of “connecting the dots,” in order to “find the truth.” Even though it’s possibly nothing more than a metaphor, always keep digging deeper, we never know what we can find.

|Three days later, HUNTtheTRUTH.tumblr.com is still a website, and still a mystery to a small section of the world… But, has it actually changed at all, whatsoever? No, yet again, nothing has changed, and likely won’t change until Sunday|
Nothing is different, and we assume nothing will change again until this upcoming Sunday, at 9 PM EST-- But fret not, there is news!

Halo: Escalation, issue 16 just released, and don’t worry, there won’t be any spoilers here.

In other news, a new Halo game was announced! Halo Online will be a free to play game, is only planned for release in Russia, and will be heading into closed Beta later this spring in Russia. At this time, not much else is known about it other than the fact that it’s based off a heavily modified Halo 3 engine, and that it will be a multiplayer based title.

That’s all we know for now.

Welcome back Operatives, I’m sorry I haven’t been able to update this thread for awhile, but duty calls sometimes; However, I have returned, so fret not for all the intel will start pouring in once again.

So, lets start this off with the two ads that aired alongside TWD’s season finale on the 29th of March:

-More debris, and destruction throughout the area; Less standing structures.

-While there’s more overall damage, there’s less damage to the Master Chief statue.

-Friendly IFF missing for the Master Chief on radar, as well as a lack of enemy movement just in case they’re not exactly on the same team.

-Visible damage to the Infinity.
-Locke’s visor light is off, while Chief has his on in his trailer.
-Blue tinged color filter over the video, instead of red.

Between the two ads there’s a lot of things that just don’t add up, and that just don’t crossover. We’re not sure what the “truth” is in the videos, perhaps it’s a combination of the two stories, perhaps it’s just one of them.

Alright, it’s not that exciting, but Benjamin pulled something out of his portfolio it seems, and it’s at the very least somewhat interesting:

He states in the blog post that the images were taken by him during the invasion of New Mombasa, and that afterwards he was contracted to edit them for propaganda images.

“This is the infamous photo I took that fateful day at New Mombasa. Perfectly polished propaganda. But to give you the whole picture, here’s the original with UNSC and ONI notes. Never before seen.”

The image is actually the box art for Halo 2, and one of the promotional posters for Halo 2.

|OPIDIO disappears, then reappears-- It’s like a form of magic, or something, I 'unno|
Its been… Awhile since I last posted an update; Sorry, I’ve been busy sleuthing, and whatnot. You know, the usual things we ONI folk’s do on our “time off”. Heh, as if we get vacation time-- If you consider going to glassed colonies a vacation, then you’re in luck, there was a lot of them.

Which brings me to the first section of the update: Glassed planets! I know it’s not in the DIRECT sequence of events, but come’on, that was an amazing segue, was it not? Alright, I’ll follow the timeline; Frakin’ killjoys, I’m telling you.

Okie-dokie, where to begin? Ah, yes, “Katrina’s Diary”. Dropped on April 6th, moments before Ben gave us the lowdown on Katrina’s childhood memories… Some nice, others much more sinister, and far darker.

Based on the supposed dates listed on the diary entries, we presume that John’s Clone died some time between November 23rd, 2517 - January 2nd, 2518. This follows the current scheme that John was taken some time in the middle of the year, and that his flash clone died within the first six months of its life. Exactly like most of the other flash clones, he became sick with debilitating symptoms, and died.

So, in the continuation of #HUNTtheTRUTH, we find out a few inconsistency’s in the story of John’s life. Benjamin, still stunned by the document that he had found while looking for John’s records in Elysium City, decided to get in contact with his contractor at ONI, Michael “Sully” Sullivan.

Interesting… It happens sometimes.

Ben’s discussion with Sullivan is short, and straight to the point-- Basically, he tells him that because John’s records come from a glassed colony there’s bound to be discrepancies, and that obviously they’re going to be a mess. People show up as dead, or missing on census data all the time in the outer colonies; It doesn’t always mean they’re actually dead.
“It’s a cover-up. That’s government secrecy 101.”

Words of an extremely wise man known as Mashak Maradi. He’s a “truther,” or a conspiracy nut, whatever you prefer; But he’s a smart one. He knew exactly what Sullivan had told Ben, but obviously he couldn’t be right, right? “Sully” had a point, and thus far everyone Benjamin had talked to has told him the complete opposite of what that census data told him-- John was quite clearly alive, and people had seen him long after his apparent “death”.

Soon after his conversation with Mashak however, Ben is contacted by Sullivan, and told that he has a face-to-face meeting with ONI Vice Admiral Gabriela Devorshak, aboard the fancy-smancy UNSC Unto the Bridge. He’s given permission to board, and right away Devorshak is there, giving him all the luxuries they can afford. After all the white gloving they finally get onto the interview, and eventually talk about how she took part in the ground operations within Elysium City, and freed John from the captivity of the Insurrectionists that had taken over the area. He apparently stood out from the crowd, was bigger then everyone, and was still confident, even though he had been in captivity, mistreated, and abused just like all the other prisoners.

Devorshak tells Ben how John volunteered to help out in the relief efforts, and how she came to know John over the following months. She talks about one of the conversations in which John had spoken of his parents, and told her that they had died only a couple of weeks before the cavalry arrived to save them. He also told her that he planned on signing up to join the marine corp, and how he wanted to help stop such an event from happening again.

Deon Govendor backs up Devorshak’s statements in a later interview, and confirms Johns conversation with her. He talks about how after the Innie occupation was over the survivors created a list of names, names of the dead and missing. John’s parents eventually turned up on that list, but John’s never did.

What an inspiring story; Indeed, that’s all it seemed to be after Benjamin got home, and Ellie Bloom, Johns childhood friend, contacted him again after some confusion pertaining to their previous interview popped up. After their last interview Ellie had contacted her friend Katrina, another childhood friend of Johns, and Katrina was quick to tell her that John couldn’t be alive, that he had died at the age of six in 2517.

So what does Ben do? He contacts Katrina, and tries to make sense of what’s been told to him. Indeed, she had known John, and he most certainly died. Not only that, but everything Devorshak, and Deon had told him about Johns parents was wrong-- They were still alive and well in Elysium City as of 2528, when Katrina moved off-planet.

Perhaps his ONI sanctioned contacts were covering something up; But we already knew that, didn’t we?

|It shatters into a million little pieces, such is glass that shatters|

Glass made from the ruins of society, and the crumbly dust of what’s left is all that remains of the fragile landscape. It’s barren, lifeless, isolated… Knowing that what you see before you is the remnants of another Human colony, fallen to the grasps of the Covenants genocidal wrath… It’s maddening. We’ve all seen it, or at least most of us have-- However, if you haven’t be prepared, because that’s exactly what you’ll discover in this update.

Benjamin, as we all know, is an avid photographer, it was his job after all. Hes taken a lot of photos over the years, but this one is special. Anyway, forward unto EPISODE 3, there’s quite a few interesting tidbits.

|EPISODE 03. CRITICAL CONDITION|
Whoa, so many characters, but so little space to post it!

So, following last episodes shattering discovery, that John’s parent’s weren’t dead, and that all of his contacts have allegedly been lying to him about key details from John’s life, Benjamin decides to put one of his good friends on the job of finding out if everything he’s being told is actually the truth… And, unsurprisingly, it is.

Ray Kersig, lovingly described as a “completely emotionless robot” by Ben, is one of his independent researchers, helping to scour Waypoint and the universe’s open chatter for anything even remotely useful towards any of Ben’s stories. Ben put him to the test, trying to figure out if John’s parent’s were actually still alive, and if John had in fact died at the age of six in 2517. Kersig comes packing with intel, and besides Ben’s disbelief at the facts at hand, John’s parents were indeed very much alive, and John was quite dead.

Sure, all the evidence was there for Ben, but instead of reasonably agreeing with Ray’s findings, he decided to contact his ONI contractor yet again about the issue of bad records. Unfortunately for Ben, Sullivan didn’t exactly seem to enjoy the allegations being thrown at him, and tells him that glassed planets have bad records for the second time-- He also pretty much told Ben that if he didn’t write the contract exactly like he wanted him to he was going to lose his job.

So, onward to the next ONI sanctioned interview he goes; The shirtless, retired UNSC Navy sergeant, Jacob Walker. During the interview Jacob tells Ben that at the beginning of his 28 year long military service with the UNSC, he had trained with John at Naval Force Reconnaissance School at Black Sea. Jacob talks enthusiastically about all the glorious leadership qualities that John exerted at boot camp, and how John was the embodiment of camaraderie, always taking the brunt of the punishment for his unit during training.

What a great interview, Jacob, even in his 50’s years after boot camp, described John as the hero everyone knew. Honorable, and contempt with going against all the odds-- But that’s not what Anthony Petrovsky had to say about him. Anthony, a former ODST, was not exactly what we would call “ONI approved,” and was a contact sent to Ben by Mashak Maradi, the “truther” from before. He describes John as a monster; A twelve or thirteen year old that was supposedly mouthing off, or maybe even giving a bit of attitude, to a group of his fellow ODST’s. In an incident that he can only describe as “impossible,” John is put up against the four ODST’s by the nearby CPO… John not only beats them, but he kills two of them, paralyzes another, and seriously wounds the fourth, all in under five seconds of furious “explosive” punches-- Not even enough time for someone to break up the fight.

Anthony comments that the only way any of that was even remotely possible, was if someone had genetically modified the seemingly twelve year old kid that had just obliterated a squad of ODST in a fist fight. Benjamin second guesses Anthony, once again practically calling someone a liar; Anthony doesn’t take kindly to this, and snubs Ben, and cuts the call off short.

Ben moves on, and receives word from Ellie Bloom the next day about some excerpts that he had sent her from his story. She once again affirms that Deon is a liar, and tells him that not only is he a liar, but there’s absolutely no way he’s telling the truth-- Boxing had been outlawed on their colony, after a string of injuries caused by it forced the local government to ban it. Ellie also tells Ben that the so called Insurrection abductions that everyone was talking about never even happened. Sure, there was Innies in Elysium City, but only politically, not militarily. They protested local policy, had seats in the local government, but never did they occupy the area with soldiers, and they certainly never had any internment camps.

Giraud contacts Thomas Wu, his ONI contact that had spoken in great detail about the insurrection in Elysium City. He alleges to Thomas that maybe he had gotten his memory mixed up, and that maybe Elysium hadn’t suffered the same fate as his own city. This doesn’t go over too well, and Thomas, angry at the allegations, tells Ben that he only wants peace of mind for his family-- But what peace would lying in an interview about the insurrection bring his family? Exactly what Ben asks him, and Thomas suddenly become lucid of the current situation, and tells him that they shouldn’t be talking, and that he needs to leave them alone.

Benjamin then also realizes that he had just accused a survivor of a war camp of lying in a government sanctioned interview, then practically convinced said war camp survivor to admit to his lie, pin ONI as threatening him and his family, and all while being on Waypoint-- The most unsecured, highly monitored network in the entire galaxy.

Was ONI monitoring the conversation, was the conversation flagged, and had he really just messed up that badly?
