#HuntTheSignal Halsey and Jerrod convertation

Also, linked to HUNTtheSIGNAL is a hidden code that talks about the AI Jerrod (Dr. Halsey’s personal AI), as well as Halsey losing her arm – linking to a site called “stolengauntlet.com“. We can infer that ‘gauntlet’ refers to Halsey’s arm being taken. The site links to a YouTube video made by user “Shar Eldy” – an anagram for “Dr Halsey” (meaning that she is involved in the HUNTtheSIGNAL campaign). The video (like the Xbox One trailer) is a glitchy version of a Ford car commercial with the ‘Bullet trailer’ and ONI logo showing up in it.
A somewhat encrypted conversation was recieved involving Jerrod, as well as a conversation between him and Halsey. The following is the encrypted conversation involving Jerrod patronising an element attempting to breach his system:-

“Jerrod: I can spin through a hundred-thousand cycles in the time it takes you to rename an access drive. You’ve got no chance against me.”
“Jerrod: I’ve made ‘impenetrable’ firewalls crumble in but moments, I can do the same to your efforts.”
"Jerrod: You are but a fragment of my abilities.”
“Jerrod: You are a splinter, a nuisance… nothing more.”
“Jerrod: You can probe all you want, like a mouse against castle gates. You will accomplish nothing.”
“Jerrod: You think you can get past me? I didn’t know rampancy was possible for such a simple construct.”
"Jerrod: I have built worlds in my mind. You can barely assemble words.”
“Jerrod: Your cyber-intrusion technique is pitiable.”
“Jerrod: I can unravel the puzzles of the ancient and the lost. You lost before you even began.”
“Jerrod: You will forever remain in my shadow.”
“Jerrod: Are you still working on my simple puzzle? I barely noticed.”

The second conversation is as follows (the way it is written, it sounds like it may be from one of the new Halo novels):-

“Good afternoon, Jerrod.”
“Good afternoon, Dr. Halsey,” the spark replied in a formal British voice. “Although technically according to my internal chronometer it is morning.”
“There have been a few temporal anomalies since we last spoke,” she said.
“Indeed? I look forward to the explanation, ma’am.”
“So do I,” she murmured.
After an alien artifact and combat in warped Slipstream space had distorted space-time. Dr. Halsey wasn’t so sure precisely what time line she belonged in. Quantum paradoxes that once seem a quaint mental exercise were now a part of her reality.
“How may I be of service?” Jerrod asked.
Dr. Halsey smiled at the simple AI. Although she often thought of Jerrod as a toy, it was a fully functional micro-AI. The experiment had been initially to see how long a budding smart AI would last in a constrained processor-memory matrix. The theoreticians at Sydney’s Synthetic Intellect Institute calculated its life span to be a matter of days. Jerrod, however, had fooled the experts at the “Double S.I.” It had rapidly
grown but then stabilized within its pea-sized cell of memory-processor crystal.
Jerrod would never be a tenth as brilliant as a real “smart” AI like Cortana, nor even as smart as a traditional “dumb” AI of unlimited proportions. But he had a spark of creativity and -Yoink!-, and despite the stuffy butler persona he had adopted, she liked him.
Jerrod had one other feature uniquely suited for Dr. Halsey’s purposes: portability. Other AIs required an institute, a starship, or at the very least a full set of MJOLNIR armor to function.

Second conversation is from “Ghosts of Onyx”

Where was the Jerrod code found?

Perhaps ONI recovered him since it appears Halsey lost him before going into the Dyson sphere.

Do you have in mind the page 503?
So, the convertation was on that page.

The first conversation is extremely intriguing. Makes you wonder who is trying to break his firewalls. When he mad the comment about rampancy, my first thought was Cortana but that was quickly dismissed because he said it in a mocking manner.

Given Jerrod is meant to be kind of weak/dumb by Halo AI standards, I’m inclined to think the comments are directed at him rather than being said by him. Could be Chakas, could be Bias, could be anyone at this point, but I find it odd that he’d be talking down to another AI.

This is all very interesting stuff! Does it have something to do with the ripples in deep space that the conspiracy nut guy was talking about in hunt the truth?

Very interesting. Where was this conversation found?

In the code by some random on NeoGaf I think. But, that quote from the novel is from my friend who works at HaloFollower. Actually, the whole thing OP posted is a direct copy and paste from here. http://halofollower.com/new-halo-huntthesignal-advertisement-campaign/

I can confirm that the contents of the topic in question have been lifted directly from the above link - an article which I personally wrote as part of HaloFollower. If you want to start your own speculation thread on HUNTtheSIGNAL, I suggest you do your own research and find your own quotes, instead of plagiarising the work of others. Have a nice day.

Wow, hearing someone from halofollower talk about linking sources properly, the irony is going to light my neighborhood on fire, oh god.

HaloFollower isn’t just the videos you know? The article writers DO link sources. The videos aren’t as well sourced due to it having to be sent out quickly to deliver the fastest news for Halo we can.

Yeah I remember that now, but the fact that on your videos you link to your website articles instead of directly to sources is pretty clearly trying to increase your website views, which is pretty gross.

It’s a little convenient that you only now remembered that isn’t it? We link to the articles on our videos because most of our YouTube audience are unaware of the existence of the site, and that most of the scripts for news and lore videos are adapted from those articles on the site. We are essentially ensuring people understand the differing formats of content within HaloFollower, as our writers sometimes do not get the recognition they deserve for their high-quality articles. There is nothing wrong with showing our site to people who are used to the videos, and vice-versa. Most of the time it’s the same content, different format.

Just me? You have missed quite some threads here then, the dislike is pretty unanimous, there have been polls where the likes are the minority, but they were all about the YouTube channel I think, I can’t say anything about your site, but I really didn’t like the content on the YouTube channel, sorry. The one video about halo 3 cut content which was actually based on halo reach alpha footage using halo 3 graphical assets is pretty much when I stopped watching, let alone the whole energy drink pyramid scheme thing.

As a writer, I have little say in what articles become videos, or what independent videos the YouTube crew make on the channel. I understand the community’s upset at Chris’ “darker times” (when asked about them, he admits he didn’t know what he was thinking) - he was young and made mistakes. I was not a part of HaloFollower during that period as he worked on his own, but he regrets those videos and is trying to prove to everyone that he has learned from those mistakes.

Oh ok, it’s good to know he knows what he did was stupid. I don’t want to make any more posts about this here because it isn’t really on topic, but I’m sorry if I offended you, I just don’t like how sources are linked on his videos so I made a joke about it.

Thank you for ending this in a civil way, you haven’t offended me, it just frustrates us staff when people bring up past mistakes when we are trying our best right now. We should be standing together as a community, instead of picking apart the flaws of the big guys. Please understand what I have told you today and thanks again.
