whats the fastest way to kill a Hunter on legendary? i dont think the pistol shot to the back works in H3
Fuel rod gun, Spartan Laser, beam rifle (in the back), spiker (Hunters are very vulnerable to them, as well as Chieftains), splatter, or several sticky grenades (stick anywhere. Best places to stick are the back, at the feet, or between the Hunter and his shield).
You could also melee with an energy sword or brute shot. With the sword in particular, you don’t have to melee at his back. If you aim well (and by that I mean manage the strong lunge), you can hit the Hunter in the neck.
And if they are near an edge, you can trick them into diving off by throwing a grenade or blast them off with a brute shot.
Finally, firebombs will work on them. They only don’t work in ODST.
Just whatever you do, do not do the following:
-give an Elite a fuel rod gun. Sometimes they charge at the Hunter and get caught up in cqc. If you give it to them, finish off the Hunter quickly, perhaps by drawing it’s attention so they can blast it
-use the gravity hammer. On Easy, it’s 1 hit kill. On Heroic and Legendary, it takes a lot of swings
sniper shot in the neck works too, i’ve found. but your tips will come in handy as i know there will be more hunters around and i may not have a trusty sniper. thanks man!
I prefer shotgun in the back, Classic.
In Halo 3 I prefer the classic shotgun shot in the back and the spiker.

Well,technically, the only level you could do this on is “The Covenant”. But you would have to aviod the hunters and go straight up the tower, come back down, and the hunters would fight the flood. that’s about it. maybe he meant halo CE or Halo 2.

Yeah except you move all the dead bodies that are outside into the tower. Normally Hunters will win. But against a lot of combat forms, they don’t stand a chance (at least on Easy). You also have to get Arby out of the way, which is easily done by leaving the AA Wraith on the left side of the tower alone.
