Witch Hunters throughout the Halo games do you all think are the toughest and which ones would you prefer to see in Halo Infinite I feel like the hunters in Halo 5 are too tough so I would prefer the ones from Halo 2 or Halo 3
I think the Halo 5 hunters are far and away the hardest. They are hella tanky, hella aggressive, and basically have aimbot. I think the most fun ones to fight are either 3 or Reach. 3 Hunters are kinda easy but fun, Reach hunters are a bit harder to kill, but offer that higher level of challenge without being too broken (except on LASO). Overall, I’d say I want Halo 3 Hunters.
Halo 5 hunters weren’t bad.
Reach hunters were my favorite to fight, actually reach covenant just felt the best to fight anyways.

Halo 5 Hunters were bad they were highly resistant to damage have tracking bullets a melee attack that you can’t dodge at close range and can deflect grenades with their shield that’s a little much
i want to see the reach hunters come back they were really fun to fight

The only difference I see here from h3 or reach hunters is the tracking shot (which is dumb and should just be a fuel rod shot). Hunters have generally always been tanky (besides ce) and should be so as they are essentially meant to be mini bosses. Their shield is also meant to be completely immune to everything, hence why the focus is on their back.
Personally, I want a mix between 5 and 3. Remove the bs tracking shots but keep their upclose lethality.

i don’t think they should be able to deflect every grenade with their shield

thats a feature that was implemented in ce. The shield does not allow plasma stick to it. They should reward you for placing your nades in the right spot. aka anywhere but the shield
I’d say 5 are hardest but I think mostly due to compensation for the thrust.
I think a middle ground between 3 and 5 be best although I’d like to see more variations.
Like a standard version.
A golden “focus” beam variation.
A pink needle hunter with explosive crystals protruding from their backs.
A super hunter that is a colony that isn’t quite big enough the divide in brothers.
Colony turrets.
Colony snakes.
That sort of thing. The halo 5 worm spawn was cool and I hope we see more of an emphasis on the nature of hunters.
Not a fan of the H5 hunters because their melee is too fast and the tracking mini gun.
Granted, with the lack of advanced mobility I do believe that we may see a more Reach style approach to the hunters and covenant in general. With probably a nod to the Halo CE Covenant.
Reach hunters are good
2 or 3 Hunters are ideal. Too easy in 1, melee in Reach, 4, 5 were too jerky and hard to react to melee-wise. In 5 they and Promethean Knights behaved kind of like mini bosses so it was kind of understandable, but still.
The hunters of Infinite will be a new experience, as described by Joseph Staten, which will be great and refreshing.
They were the coolest enemy to me, visually and lore wise, but always left me wanting when it came to fighting them because of how predictable they were. I think Halo 3 hunters were pretty fun on legendary.
