Super easy, you just dodge the boss and use a sentinel beam to break shields. Rockets 2 hit sword… hammer dies to just rockets. All 3 were easy
The issue is that for so much of this game you can roll around like a freaking death God with high-tilt weaponry and vehicles. Seems pretty obvious that Hunters are tuned to account for players prep-scumming every time they set out somewhere.
I think the Hunters are a massive improvement.
They’re supposed to be the most dangerous thing in the covenant arsenal.
In previous games you could just run straight up to them, dance with them and one shot then in the back with almost zero threat. You could stay in melee range for 10 minutes and dodge every attack, they simply weren’t threatening but now they are.
Finally they are a foe worthy of respect, as they should have always been!!! An honourable pair of dangerous combatants!!
You need to broaden your mind and utilise different techniques to take them down.
Plasma nades take off armour plates
Spike nades can be used to attack from different angles
You can hit the weak points from the front or side like previous titles (knees and neck)
Burn/tick damage
Explosive cores etc
Combinations of armour abilities
I love the wormy bastards and always feel guilty when I kill one of the brothers and break the bond :*(
Its funny because I was just thinking about how unfun these where.
However I have finished on legendary so il give you some top tips, the HVT hunters I never even had an issue with because they never even fired back, caputrered the near by FOB, called in a scorpion and just went through the area like it was a turkey shoot, shelling everything to death at range.
The worst part was the final mission where they locked me in a tiny room with two hunters… God that was irritating… one very special thing is Hunters are super weak yo the charged shot of a ravager, 2 shots with them stood in that fire even on legendary kills them dead.
The issue was always when one died and went bezerk in that closed room… like wtf am I supposed to do? Thrusters don’t dodge far enough, they ignore the cloak, they outrun me sprinting, and rappid fire cannon while doing so… just so unfun, however its done and dusted now… looking forward to my all skulls run when I feel like it.
the first time i got there i use hookshot when the last one going bezerk since the speed is then also going to chance from the hunter when there going bezerk then you need hookshot like hell to keep a distance between you and the hunter.
Fusion/Plasma/etc coils; Needler; Ravenger. Genuinely makes the Hunters pretty easy. The Hunters in Halo 5 were tougher.
Halo Infinite has the easiest Hunters in the series. I cannot believe people think they are too hard. You can shoot them in the freaking knees in this game. The HVT pair I literally didn’t shoot at once. Two marines with Rockets did it while I just drove around them. If people can’t beat Hunters on here I find it hard to believe they ever tried playing the first 3 games or Reach. Also complaining about anything being “too hard” when you are playing on the hardest difficulty is already silly.
That’s false. Have you not played Halo CE or Halo 2?
Needlers will shred the hunters on any difficulty. It’s comical actually how OP the needlers are on hunters
Have you? Try shooting those hunters in the front and see what happens.
Of course I have.
Magnum or Sniper Rifle one-shots them to the belly in Halo CE.
In Halo 2, you just stick them with a plasma grenade, they somehow turn around completely, then hit them twice in the back with a sniper and each of them dies in under 10 seconds.
The Hunters in those two Halo games are easier to dispatch than in Halo Infinite, so you saying:
… is spectacularly false. Even the Halo: Reach and Halo 4 Hunters are considerably easier to dispatch as well than those in Halo Infinite.
the only reason the hunters in halo 5 are tougher is because there use more a full rod cannon type weapon and there you need to run away from then to keep a distance between you and the hunter so the chance to get smash by then is much higher in halo 5 then in halo infinite.
The problem with Infinite hunters is that the only consistent way to deal with them is power weapons, and I’m pretty sure the Devs know this. The one time they force the player into a close quarters fight with them there’s two skewers and a pile of Coils just lying around. It felt rather disappointing.
I walk into the room see the Hunters and my first thought is how hard this fight is gonna be, get hyped, only to find Skewers and Coils galore turning a potential highlight of the game into a boring encounter with a pair of Hunters, where I run around in circles pelting them with Skewers and Coils until they die, it was easy. I never use the Magnum against Hunters in CE it’s too boring, especially when I can go in against them and fight toe to toe. You can’t get that experience in Infinite because if you try, you get mowed down by Hunter machine guns.
The Machine gun mode would be fine if it had a windup and a audio/visual tell, to let the player know that it’s time to pull out the equipment to deal with the oncoming suppressive fire, but there isn’t, and it sucks.
Are you daft? CE were the easiest by a long shot. One shot to the back with a pistol when they can barely turn to face you? How is that anything remotely harder than Infinites hunters?
When playing on legendary, the games have been very difficult, but not straight up b.s (aside from sniper jackals in H2). The hunters were always a well balanced and formidable enemy, they are simply broken in Infinite. Saying they are balanced or fair is objectively false.
I’m glad not all people are wearing rose colored glasses while playing this game
Sadly that’s due to 343i not being good with boss fights. I shouldn’t feel like I’m fighting an endless sweat-fest. I feel like they looked at Doom Eternal and copied that…it explains why a majority of the boss fights are more stressful and not fun. Bad enough some boss’s feel like there cheating with some the movements they make. As for the Hunters these complaints were in Halo 5 and 343i have continued to go down this route and it just feels lazy since Hunters are not meant to be ‘one fits all’ situation.
You’re right about that… The player can’t even try to fight those 2 Hunters in that last level you’re talking about from outside that room either. From within the corridor leading into that room, the door will shut down and lock the instant you get the Hunters attention when you fight from there and then you’ll be teleported inside right away in front of the Hunters in the area, and then you’ll be killed instantly once that happens. I was completely blown away when that happened to me.
I did a test and if you hit them 3 times in the head with a skewer it will kill them on Legendary. I’ve had no issues with them since and always carry a back up skewer incase I encounter them :’)
When I encountered the HVT hunters on Heroic I recall 3-shotting each of them with the wraith mortar and in fact finding the fight quite disappointing given the buildup. I suppose I agree with others in saying tank does, indeed, beat everything.
However, the final fight with red hunters at the end of the campaign was very difficult for me because the second hunter in revenge mode was insanely aggressive and had a ridiculous amount of health for the weapons provided to me. I died like 8 times to that one hunter because it seemed to be running right behind me at all times no matter how far away I tried to thrust or grapple. That fight felt hard, and in that situation I agree with the OP.
On legendary? Even on Heroic they’re just bullet sponges. They’re too hard to outmaneuver, so the old strategy of hitting their backs is useless now. After the first encounter I just said -Yoink- it and brought a Scorpion whenever I could to fight them.
