Hunter rank/difficulty

A thread in another topic got me to thinking about this. Am I missing something on these guys? In some levels like Nightfall they are relatively easy to take out, but further down the road as in Pillar of Autumn, they are a pain in the keyster.

Are hunters identified or coded for difficulty or ranking and its something I’m just not recognizing?

Cheers,
Brad

In legendary, I mostly try to kill all hunters in the same way; Find an opportunity to jump on top of their heads, then pummel them fearlessly from above… They can’t attack you if you’re on their heads…they just wiggle in futility.

I think it is more of the environment you find them in. In PoA they are found in a relatively tight space area. Giving an advantage to the hunters seeing you have less space to circle around them.

It’s the environment that’s making them tougher to kill. On PoA, you are being shot by Skirmshers supporting the two Hunters. This is a pain on Legendary, the hunters especially so if you didn’t grab a shotgun earlier.

Of course if you are like me, you just shoot the window leading into the building by doing fancy crouch jumping and skipping the entire encounter. :stuck_out_tongue:

I do the same for Nightfall come to think of it. Forklift Glitch ftw.

the best way i have found is shooting them in the back with a PP gun, works pretty easy but you got to make them turn around.

i think the further u get in the campaign the harder the campaign gets

Well yeah Ive done the window skip as well, but sometimes I like to go after the things.

Another trick if you can’t circle them is to shoot them in the neck with a sniper rifle. You have to be patient and let them drop their shield arm between shots. If you time it right, they drop their left arm, and you can pop them before the right fires. Look for blood to see if you are hitting between the armor.

Nightfall: keep blasting the Phantom with the concussion rifle then blast the Hunters when they land. There should be enough ammo to knock them off the cliff.

-don’t rely on Jun. If he gets knocked off the cliff, he’s a goner (teleports when the Hunters are dead if given the chance)
-the General drops a plasma launcher

TotS: destroy the AA gun from a distance, head for the Wraith on the right (do NOT fire at it), melee the gunner out, hit the hatch once then get in the turret and kill the pilot. Use the Wraith.

-there are 2 supply cases with plasma launchers
-use the Revenant and/or Rocket Hog as last resort

New Alexandria: Thankfully, the marines distract them so well you can practically skip them most of the time. And of course, you can replace them with Brutes and Grunts.

PoA: easily skipped not to mention they don’t follow you back to the 1st smelting room. You can bring a Ghost in addition to getting to higher ground.

My preferred tactic is to glitch the rocket launcher ammo (empty clip + swap with ally = infinite ammo). It makes it so simple. The Hunter’s campy disposition makes them the easiest Halo enemy of all time!
