So this guy in hunt the truth im assuming is writing from the perspective that ONI is still hiding that John was flash cloned and kidnapped, and that he was augmented at some young age.
So as for what i can see the list of interviewers im assuming are all told what to say about john and as for hunting the truth its going to be somee reveal of information we already know.
So from what i can see the sully guy is the same id who was saved by john in forward unto dawn.
Second sully has these interviews set up to be scripted so we now may assume ONI is still covering up the spartan 2 program
Im kinda not liking this hunt the truth because i thought it was was going to explain whats going on in halo 5 but its really about some reporter who doesnt know the information about how jihn got to whre he is now stuff you can just google in our real world you know.
Yeah, in the end it’s going to be the truth we’ve always known. Chief WAS kidnapped at 6, and DID get augmentation at 14.

It’s still interesting though. Maybe we’ll learn completely new stuff.

Agreed. It really gives a very human feel to the universe. The crap load of forerunner alien talk in H4 disoriented me from the human story they were trying to tell. It’s always comforting to hear ONI up to it’s old tricks.
You realize that unveiling Chief’s past is the vehicle that carry us to the truth of how Chief ended up in the position he’s in in Halo 5 right? It is all leading up to that big reveal of what the Chief did. We simply have to follow the clues and hunt the truth to find it.

Of course if you’re a hardcore fan of Halo lore you would, hopefully, know what the truth is already. Hunt the truth is 343i’s way to draw new fans to the franchise by giving them all of the juicy facts of John’s life in an audio log, and not through 350 pages of text.

What’s wrong with 350 pages of text? Books are good.

I haven’t read yoink and i can deduce
ESPADA S03 is right. People who have read The Fall of Reach already know what’s true and what’s not. I doubt we’ll learn anything new. 343i is doing this for those who haven’t read the novel. I think it’s a genius idea. Not everyone has time to read a long novel like that and some people do not like to read. In a way, I wish I had not read the novel because I’m sure the folks who haven’t are really enjoying the mystery of these audio logs. I’ll still listen all the way through because it’s interesting to put voices to the characters I’ve read in the novel. Apparently ONI is still trying to make people believe whatever it is ONI wants them to believe. Kinda like the US government
I think it’ll give us some good context for what is public knowledge and what is not in-universe, at least.
If it’s so obvious to you and others, why listen to it then?
I’m personally here for the story, which most I already know, and hearing from Ben’s perspective which is the same perspective to a very large majority of civilians under humanity. Plus it gives me another event to look forward to on my weekends till E3!
I still find it interesting as it puts us in their shoes. People might already know everything, but I personally find it interesting to see someone figure it out and have ONI possibly kill them for it.

You don’t even have to be a hardcore Halo lore fan or read 350 pages of text. A quick look at the Halo wiki will give you all of the information you need, and it’ll do it a lot faster than Hunt the Truth will. Pretty much anyone who has ever Googled “Master Chief” should already know what the truth is.

And yet no Halo fan has had a look at the extent that the Office of Naval Intelligence went to in order to cover-up the true nature of the Spartan-II Program. Thus far the fiction has shown that rumors are essentially all anybody knows about the S-IIs and even less info is known about the S-IIIs. Now we get to delve deep into the expanded universe and see the scope of ONI’s actions and brush the events of the past with a fresh coat of information and context that wasn’t there previously.

Relax. We’re on episode 3 of 12. There’s no reason not to think the later episodes won’t tie in more directly with the story of Halo 5.
Plus as stated above, we never really knew how ONI covered up the Spartan-IIs or III-s. A lot of this is new information even if we know a lot that Ben doesn’t yet.

Not saying Hunt the Truth isn’t interesting. I actually enjoy listening to it because, like you said, we get to see everything from a different perspective. I’ve found ONI’s version of Chief’s story and the events of his past to be pretty interesting, especially the way they have adapted some of the actual truth to make it fit their needs. For example, the story about John making sure to be the last one to the Pelican and walking all the way back isn’t completely untrue. He actually did that, the difference is that he was actually just a child then. I’m just saying that the “truth” that is being hunted is already out there and easily accessible, and that you don’t have to be a hardcore lore person to know what the truth is.

Are you sure about that last little bit? Propaganda has never been more prevalent in mankind’s history than it is today. Something to consider. Perhaps it’s something 343i considered too.
We still haven’t gotten to the so called “Full blown investigation”. IF 343 know what they are doing, this will ink into Halo 5 by E3.
