Hunt the (half) truth

Do not post about forum moderation or make nonconstructive posts.

I’m taking a step back today from the Halo 5 “hate” and wanted to address some lies or misconceptions that are floating around here that seems get posted every couple of hours, specifically about “how you should’ve known s. screen was going to be cut out”. Over & over this is being floated as some kind of legitimate retort, when in reality this is either willful ignorance, or outright deception.
(And before certain mods get itchy fingers about labeling a thread “non-constructive” and hiding it, I think this is how you clear the air. No name-calling, no juvenile ranting/raving, just asking for certain ppl to be held accountable, and yet somehow THAT is considered “non-constructive”. Why is that?)
There’s quite a few YT videos & threads here where the topic/idea has been brought up that certain ppl said one thing, (s.screen) yet when it was changed the announcement either was left vague on purpose, (which in itself is kind of juvenile/unprofessional) or posted at the very bottom of a 19 page “announcement”.
WHY would you make an announcement at the bottom of an article that changed the gameplay of H5 so much, and yet when ppl point it out its labelled “non-constructive”?
WHY would you let mods label these threads, posts as non-constructive?
WHY not just own upto it as most adults do? (or should)
Most of all, you let a fan-base come to your aid, when you KNOW that they’re basically either ignorant or mis-informed?
I think THIS is what most of the adults with the attention span longer than a gnat have a problem with here. Its disingenuous, bordering on deceitful.
Is it not possible to discuss this like rational human beings? Is there no middle ground?

This is the definition of a non-constructive post.

How is clearing the air non-constructive?

Is anything I posted wrong or a lie?

This is potentially constructive.

I was just reading some threads today, saw the same things being said over & over. Ppl say how this forum is so toxic, yet it seems not alot of ppl are willing to discuss WHY. Whichis why I thought (maybe) we could try to undo the damage sort of speak. Hash it out without Halo being involved at all to muddy up the waters.

Ok.

Explain what they can do to fix the issues rather than point them out, that’s why this isn’t being very constructive.

To be fair, 90% of the posts here are non constructive. My favorite being the announcements that people are done playing.

This is actually pretty constructive compared to any other split screen threads.
I agree that the announcements were small, but they were very clear, and with the waves they caused on the internet… I’m honestly shocked that anyone didn’t know.

How do we KNOW it can’t be done? bc they say so?

Allow me to direct you to this ancient post: Online co-op!! > All Topics | Forums | Bungie.net

This was for a discussion for Halo 2 to be online co op. Bungie said it was too hard. Ppl wailed, virgins were sacrificed, deals with the devil was made & guess what?

We got it.

So it wasn’t a matter of IMPOSSIBILITY, it was a matter of not wanting to do it.

So, CAN they lower the game to 30 FPS for split-screen or not? Not, “it would be non-trivial” (which kinda implies it can be done) to just “No”.

I think its a valid question considering 343’s reputation about non-clear statements.

It was well known HERE, obviously not by everyone else out THERE. (Points to outside world)

It was a MAJOR change to the architecture of the game, yes? And it was announced in January they WOULD be working on it,yes?

Was THAT announcement hidden?

I’m not picking on 343, I’m saying they have a bad habit of sweeping bad news under the proverbial rug as it were & letting their “base” defend them for actions they should man up to in the first place is all.

And the forum is becoming (more) toxic bc of it.
