Hunger Games themed map in Forge for H4?

Most of you have probably read, watched, or heard about The Hunger Games. If you don’t know, go look it up or ignore this post because you probably won’t be able to understand.

So we barely know anything about Forge in Halo 4, but Forge has been confirmed. What I think 343 should do is add the Random Weapon Drops feature to your Forge maps as well.

I had an idea for a Forge map in Halo 4. It’s basically a Halo version for The Hunger Games. There are spawn spots for however many players you want to have. There are 24 participants in The Hunger Games but I believe you can’t go over 16 on Halo. So anyways each player on the Forge map has one life, unless you want to give players extra lives to match the 24-tribute-thing. All players spawn at an equal distance apart from each other and what lies in front of them are Energy Swords, power-ups such as longer sprint, armor abilities, weapons and the like. But the closest are Energy Swords. Players sprint for the Energy Swords and kill many of their opponents but some may choose to flee and hide.

And yeah, it’s basically The Hunger Games on Halo. Last person to survive wins.

What do you think?

sort of like a FFA? Sounds fun

Yeah. The map would take countless hours to perfect though lol.

Do it and post it on the forums. God Speed.

I have VERY little experience with Forge on Reach, but have created a few awesome maps before. If Halo 4 includes file share and that kind of stuff, I’ll make a Hunger Games-themed Forge map and gametype and upload it on to the forums. To let people enjoy and to get feedback, which I can use to update and improve the map and gametype.

To get the survival aspect right, all players should have slow shield degeneration, and be able to pick up powerups on the map to restore their shields. Actually, I could probably forge this in Reach.

Lol it’d be funny if one of the day-one maps did this. Forge project commence!

Yes, beautiful! Thank you. I’ll place the map on to Custom Games and people can play it on Forge too. People fight on the map while “Sponsors” which are the Forge Monitor guys, can drop weapons and powerups and stuff.

You could forge it in Reach. Wow, I’m surprised that no one (or not a lot of people) have done it yet. Forge World would be a great place for it as there are caves and stuff.
But still, I think it would be better on Halo 4 when it comes out

You should also spawn crawlers in to attack people ;D Oh, and dont forget the walls of fire!

 It would be cool if we could add “creatures” to Forge in Halo 4, opens up a lot of possibilities. I would like that, I’m not sure if other people would though. And walls of fire could be created by Killballs and stuff. Vehicles such as Scorpions can respawn at certain times, which can splatter unfortunate players in a specific area.

Another idea I have is a bridge to cross a river, and parts of the bridge fall so you have to sprint your way to the other side. Not sure how you could do this in Forge though.

Right, especially if we could personally alter the “killstreak” system to award points to players based on kills, survival time, and pickup of powerups, so that it would act like sponsors arranging weapon drops for them.

let’s not and say we did before someone comes in and asks for a twilight one

Another thing. People run for the energy swords, right? It would be hard to kill people with an energy sword that are running away from you at the same speed. Since there are snipers and stuff in the “Cornucopia” where many of the weapons are, people will HAVE to run for them, as you’re pretty much dead without a weapon. A sniper shot from long distance can easily kill you.

Spawning players weaponless, with only melee attacks would be useful for this (if 343 provides it as an option), but I don’t think more than one sniper should be provided, just so you don’t have a constant die-off of players (its ammo should be kept low, maybe only one mag).

Abilities could spawn in the cornucopia too, like promethean vision for finding other players, hardlight shield for defense from someone shooting at you from long range, hologram to lead other players into traps, and the ‘regeneration field’ to heal yourself or any players you have a (temporary) alliance with.

Camo should be left out, though (kinda OP in a game based on survival) as should thruster pack (I feel like it would make engagements TOO fast paced). We’ve got no word on the auto-sentry ability yet, but it sounds kinda OP, so I think it should be kept out of this gametype.

If there’s a good amount of community interest in this, 343 could give it a weekend playlist like Halo 3 had, where players would receive double the normal XP for playing.

Have you tried any Hunger Games maps on Reach? They’re quite fun, I’ve even made one myself. Most of the variants people have made utilize various battlefields constructed in the canyon and (less commonly) island areas of Forge World.

Definitely a fun gametype when you find people dedicated to playing by the rules of the game.

I just started forging one a few minutes ago that uses the canyon, the island, and all areas in between.

I love playing maps utilizing the whole of Forge World. I made my Hunger Games map solely on the island though. I feel that the scale would promote camping. I could be wrong though, just find a good group to play with.

Good luck with the map, and make sure to add some nice traps.

I think I should create one for both Forge World and Timberland/Ridgeline. Do you know how you can change the colour of the screen (like purple or black and white) after a bit into the game? Can you change the colour only for certain people and put a timer?

I’m trying to discourage camping by degenerating players’ shields and placing custom powerups as survival goods (food, matches, etc) that restore their shields. I’m thinking this will promote movement and discourage camping, because I’ll usually place these in areas that are open, difficult to hold out in, and anyone camping in a building will soon have their shields drop to zero without one of these powerups, putting them at a disadvantage.

You can change it from a daytime environment to a nighttime one, by setting a ‘purple’ effect to spawn after a certain amount of time, but unfortunately, this can’t be changed back.
