The concept of humans within the Banished is a well known and fairly well discussed one, However, one side of it is toutched upon more more than another. The Lore. People talk about Atriox’s opinions on humans, the Banished’s views to humanity in Halo Infinite, how Elites and Brutes can willingly cooperate within the Banished ever after the Great Schism, all of these. I don’t think that I need to go into much detail as I’m sure that if you have clicked on this post you will already know. One aspect that people somehow ignore, apart from the occasional comment of “we’ll we’ve never fought humans in a Halo Title in any real way”, is the gameplay. The gameplay options, possibilies and barriers are the things I will now talk about when in this post about Humans in the Banished.
I will start with an issue, the Human figure/silhouette. Enemies in Halo that serve a wildly different role and aren’t just a different rank are different species. This had given Bungie and is giving 343 a very good gameplay attribute. Different enemies have different silhouettes. This difference allows the player to identify what they are fighting from the rough silhouette of the enemy rather than trying to peek at them for a while, this can keep the gameplay flowing, The problem with humans is that they are one species, this makes all infantry/on-foot soldiers have the same silhouette. Due to this, gameplay variation between different humans would have to be tied to weapons and ranks. Because of this, humans would have to be introduced as just another species within the Banished, like grunts, jackles and the like.
Now, what weapons could they use. There are three catagories of weapons that are at their possible disposal, new weapons, UNSC weapons, Banished Weapons. Weapons that they could use from the UNSC range (that change depending on rank so don’t worry about how damaging they are) include: the commando, the AR, the BR, the Bulldog, the SPNKr. As a new weapon that could be introduced with them could be the return of the DMR. I thought that the Sniper was a bit too strong and it doesn’t give the player any warning like the Stalker Rifle. This could be an option to make the DMR return to fill in that sniper role. It could be used by them at longer ranges yet it doesn’t deal as much damage as the Stalker Rifle due to the lack of warning it would give. A banished weapon that I can see them using is the Mangler.
I have concepts on possible movement and health yet they ain’t very well thought out so I’ll ask people who comment to make a remark on it if they wish.
