Now, in my opinion, the accidental release of the flood in the original trilogy doesn’t fit into this, so I suspect that in Halo 5 or Halo 6, the Precursors (or A Precursor) will show up some how…along with the Flood…unless they plan on doing another trilogy after the Reclaimer trilogy.
Also, “it is your task to kill this servant, that another may be freed.” Eeeeerr…that’s…spooky.
Anyway, with the Covenant in shambles and (as far as we know) the Forerunners only on one planet, it seems more and more like humans are “rising again in arrogance” and becoming “ripe”
So what do you guys think? Do you think the Precurors are the real threat in the Reclaimer trilogy?
Also, something I’d like to point out, in Cryptum, the Primordial had four arms and two legs…suddenly he has a bunch of spider legs? Something tells me he didn’t start out as a Gravemind…a mashup of victims…unless Greg Bear completely forgot what he wrote…I’d also like your opinions on this too.
It would also explain why Silentium is coming out after Halo 4…and the Silentium description hints that the relationship between the Flood and the Precursors will be revealed.

Number two: If not 5, then 6, it just seems right, and I don’t think it’ll be the same old flood.
I can see it now: “I have modified and organized a whole new Flood for millinea…humans, it is finally your time to be tested.”
I suspect we will learn some about the Precursors much as we did about Forerunners up to this point, which is to say not a ton of info.
However, with the rumor of a third trilogy, I can see Halo 6 ending with Humanity overtaking Forerunners and the next “opponent” being Precursors. However, for the Precursors, it’s more a test of humanity, rather than going to war with us. Afterall, they wanted to give us the “mantle” after the Forerunners screwed up.
I’d like to learn in this trilogy that much of Forerunner tech is based off of or actually uses Precursor tech. Not just a comment as something on this order has already been said. Rather, something possibly we have to find in a mission of Halo 4. Perhaps a key component to saving Cortana from Rampancy?

Weird example, but I’d like it if they were like the original Xenomorphs from the Alien franchise and the Prometheus Spoiler Space Jockey-Xenomorph in Prometheus. The originals were in-your-face scary, a typical (yet still frightening) movie monster. The Space Jockey Xenomorph was slimy, subtle in design, gave the uncanny valley feel. That’s how I hope the new Flood are like: less “Yaargh, gurgle, space zombies, blehh”, more subtle horror.

There is no third trilogy, they were only preventing domain name squatters. They also have Halo’s 10 and 11 registered. Are they going to make them now?

You might want to read that post again. He’s not acting like he’ll do anything or that he can, just stating that if 343i don’t make use of an interesting plot point then they are not good storytellers and he’s correct.
sounds like a lot of ancient humans to me. i think they would be more arrogant. they held such a civilization then lost billions to the flood, had everyone become subhumans literally, watched eons and milleniums of technological development wiped out, watch other humans become the forerunners guinea pigs and die, watch our only ally exterminated at a flash, watch other humans bullied and abducted. This would have made many humans angry and arrogant. if we were tier 1 like forerunners, at least some would have escaped, were not technologically inferior, only in some parts, but we were also technologically superior in some forms as well. The didact even confirmed that we would have won if we were fighting two wars at once. thinking of this, the humans would have thought the same possibility, how different the outcome would have been, preventing the monstrous acts that occurred on the human race as well the as the prophets.
this could have also been the same for the ancient prophets. some could have escaped from the forerunners. the forerunners, ancient humans and prophets at this stage were at the same tech level. it is possible that the ones among both races that escaped defeat could have made our own shield worlds from the array. surviving 100,000 years. then they would go find the current prophet race, reinstate the superior genes, rebuild their society and regain honour from their defeat and tell them the truth, and that we were once allies.

Perhaps. Halo is a vast universe, so it is a definite possibility.
