There’s a couple of questions with this topic that I would like to ask the Halo gaming community:
- Why did they split apart and become two different races? - Even though they are considered two different species, could they have offspring if mated? - Does that mean 343 Guilty Spark was right the whole time calling Chief the Reclaimer? - If number 3 is correct then that means the glyphs designating Humans as Forerunners in Halo: Contact Harvest was right, doesn’t it?I know that this isn’t really what you’d consider a typical post, but I love seeing the responses to questions the community gives and I think that thes 4 questions might even have the higher ups commenting. 1: The original race split into two when one faction took off to the far side of the galaxy, and remained genetically the same species, while the faction that remained behind started genetic experimentation and incorporating genetic traits they liked from other races into themselves in an attempt to turn themselves into the ultimate race. That is why Forerunners were so different from humanity, that when they didn’t recognize them when they rediscovered each-other.
2: I doubt it. There was so much genetic alteration to the Forerunners I doubt they’d be genetically compatible with humans.
3: Yes, Humanity were designated Reclaimers before the Halos were fired, because some of the Forerunners recognized human potential, and designated them to be their successors, even though they didn’t realize that humanity was the same race the Forerunners used to be before over ten-million years of genetic alteration.
4: In Contact Harvest the glyphs are “Reclaimer”, which the Prophets mistakenly interpreted as “Reclamation”. Once they were corrected, they put the pieces together that humanity was the chosen successor to the Forerunners, and likely related to them.
