Human weapons

The Human Arsenal has the least new weapons throughout the Halo series does anyone have any ideas for new human weapons

As long as any new weapons are unique in their role in the sandbox, I don’t care what they look like visually. Personally, I think the sandbox is fine with the current usual human weapons

  • Assault Rifle - Sidekick (a precision weapon like the gunfighter magnum for AR start multiplayer, not too shabby) - BR - Sniper - Rocket - Bulldog – Which is alright? I guess, it seems the shotgun has been replaced in the sandbox with a different weapon, likely a banished one, which is fine, weird decision to outright replace the shotgun because some people get caught up on the aesthetics of the weapons and the nostalgia factor I guess. That’s not wrong, I do find it weird that there seems to be a shotgun-similar weapon in the sandbox that isnt the human shotgun - Spartan Laser (maybe) - Honestly if the splaser was gone, though it’s pretty iconic, I’m not sure I’d mind, it tends to obliterate vehicles and the railgun does a similar function to it while being mainly effective against players over vehicles.
I’d love to see the Grenade Launcher to return, straight from reach. That is one of the best and most unique additions to Halo’s sandbox ever. I don’t mind the sticky detonator, but it’s function tied you to keeping the gun out to actually detonate the explosive and it was rather gimmicky, but oh man that grenade launcher was amazing.

In terms of roles, I’d love to see two weapons added that fill both roles of the Brute Shots in Halo 2 and 3. While they’re very similar on the surface, having a weapon that let you splash damage behind cover using ricochet (Halo 2 ) was extremely fun and useful, and using the Halo 3 brute shot to rocket jump is the most “Halo” way to implement enhanced mobility without changing every aspect of the games, and it’s way more creative than a jetpack.

Lastly, any new weapons added I would hope interact with physics the most, as it is arguably the best part of the Halo sandbox. I mean, if 343 can manage to make killing with traffic cones more common, I’m all for it.

I variety of weapons that are meant to be primary weapons and they’re good. No more spawn with Assault rifle and rarely using it. Any kind of rifle should be made good enough where players want to keep it as a good starting weapon no more magnums ruling the slayer matches

If you haven’t heard, they said they have a new shotgun that replaces the power of the CE shotgun. They haven’t showed it yet but they said it’s new. So we have two shotguns, one powerful but slow firing like the CE one, and the bulldog

Whatever weapons we get I hope that they are focused around creating interesting gameplay before creating a gun that just kills everything

Yeah guns that kill everything are nice but they should be designed to do cool stuff and then tuned into doing killing instead of the other way around. Having more secondary effects to guns would make the sandbox much more interesting.

The Bulldog is nothing like the Mauler.

Is it not? It’s a weaker shotgun that reloads with a drum instead of individual shells. The only difference is that the bulldog performs differently because dual wielding is not a part of the sandbox. If dual wielding wasn’t a factor in the design of the mauler, it would function quite similarly to the bulldog

I think honestly the Railgun and DMR don’t really need to exist if the Splaser and BR do. The overlapping functionality might get annoying or just confusing for new players.

The only weapon I would want in from the Halo 4/5 era for sure is the Sticky Detonator which is Halo 4 exclusive. A shame since its such a useful short range explosive.

I also dont think we would need a grenade launcher if we also have the Hydra, admittedly the Hydra is better against people but I think the Hydra should be a vehicle bruiser that with enough shots would EMP vehicles (and damage them a chunk). That’s just my ideal Hydra though.

Also I think the Mauler has less range.

Ive been using it recently and I swear you might as well be blowing enemies kisses, the range of it is abysmal.

The Hydra sucks it might kill a Spartan in 2 shot but when it comes to a Hunter it sucks the grenade launcher does more damage

A weapon I would want to see? Hrmm…

Ok! I got it! So prepare…

You ready?

You sure? Ok…

T H E H A L O: R E A C H F O R K L I F T

But seriously, I would like to see the prototype suit from the episode “Prototype Suit” from halo legends. But that probably Won’t happen so my second choice would probably be the Flammenwerfer

> The Hydra sucks it might kill a Spartan in 2 shot but when it comes to a Hunter it sucks the grenade launcher does more damage

That’s not much of an analysis but ok.

The Hydra is a competent grenade launcher, frankly I prefer it over the Reach style grenade launcher because it A. Doesnt userp the plasma pistol and B. Isnt a one shot kill.

I find the idea of one shot abilities or weapons abhorrent outside of the primary sniper weaponry and the heavy launchers. Frankly I dislike one-shot anything if I’m being honest.

The Reach Grenade launcher is frankly uncontested in its role. The Concussion Rifle is more useful batting away ground vehicles and for the knockback. The Plasma Pistol in Reach is powerful but the Grenade Launcher does anything the Plasma Pistol does but better. The only upside the Plasma Pistol has is the larger ammo capacity and frequency of the Plasma Pistol in loadouts whereas the Grenade Launcher is rare.

Frankly I think the Hydra is a superior replacement if it takes a role as a vehicle bruiser and spartan basher but doesnt do more damage in 6 rockets than one rocket from the rocket launcher. That’s my ideal take on what I think is a mishandled weapon. Any thoughts?

I didn’t mention the DMR because there’s no way its returning seeing as we’ve seen quite a bit of BRs and not a single mention of the DMR. I’m assuming the Commando has replaced the DMR, which isn’t so bad I suppose, it does seem to be a precision automatic weapon which aside from the needle rifle we haven’t really seen

I mention the Railgun because functionally it is very similar to the Spartan Laser while it doesn’t have anywhere near the map dominance against vehicles that the Splaser does. I love the iconic look and feel of the splaser, but if the railgun entirely replaced it, that’d be fine with me as well tbh. I’m rather indifferent on that subject lol.

I need to see more about the Hydra before I form an opinion on it. I thought the hydra was a rather boring weapon in Halo 5 as a consequence of advanced mobility. Seeing as we don’t have quite the mobility shenanigans in Halo Infinite, I want to see how aggressively it tracks, if it tracks at all. I really liked the unique function and execution of the grenade launcher. It’s one of the best weapons added to halo’s sandbox period, because it has an extremely high skill ceiling and some seriously nasty plays can be made with it, not to mention it’s just a fun gun altogether lol.

I see what you’re referring to above about the hydra not being a one shot kill, but the grenade launcher has more risk associated with it over the hydra. The hydra is a very spammable weapon, and many times I’ve seen people spray it at player’s feet in order to get a quick kill. It’s effective, and it plays against the role the weapon is intended to have. You can’t spam the grenade launcher in the same sense, and on top of that, you can’t use it in close quarters the same way without blowing yourself up. If you miss the grenade or don’t kill outright, odds are you’re either dead, or at a disadvantage if the other player is competent enough or a good shot.

I guess, it seems the shotgun has been replaced in the sandbox with a different weapon, likely a banished one, which is fine, weird decision to outright replace the shotgun because some people get caught up on the aesthetics of the weapons and the nostalgia factor I guess. That’s not wrong, I do find it weird that there seems to be a shotgun-similar weapon in the sandbox that isnt the human shotgun - Spartan Laser (maybe) - Honestly if the splaser was gone, though it’s pretty iconic, I’m not sure I’d mind, it tends to obliterate vehicles and the railgun does a similar function to it while being mainly effective against players over vehicles.I’d love to see the Grenade Launcher to return, straight from reach. That is one of the best and most unique additions to Halo’s sandbox ever. I don’t mind the sticky detonator, but it’s function tied you to keeping the gun out to actually detonate the explosive and it was rather gimmicky, but oh man that grenade launcher was amazing.

Wasn’t joking, just misunderstood the reply lol.

I was referring to the mauler being very similar to the bulldog. Similar enough that the bulldog could have outright been the mauler, and everyone would have gone “Hey! they buffed the mauler, these mad lads!”

I am interested in this new weapon, but I am worried about the ramifications these changes to shotguns are going to have on infection. Loading individual shells was a huge part of the infection gameplay loop, although 343 really hates the original infection gametype, so I didnt exactly expect it to be in Halo infinite in a similar capacity to say, Halo Reach
