I heard somewhere that ONI has been experimenting with plasma weapons. Maybe humans will now have some laser weapons besides the spartan laser. I hope this is true. I’d like to see some new cool weapons.
Here are some ideas.
Spartan Rifle:
Basically a automatic weapon. No sights. Fires red lasers or plasma. Has a higher damage rate than the regular assault rifle, but fires a little slower. 20 shots and it needs to recharge or de-heat.
Plasma Sniper: bad name I know
5 shots and needs to recharge. High damage.
Human plasma grenade:
Self explanatory.

No, I would prefer the Covi weps have a diff feel to them rather then fuse the two factions weps.
The humans really don’t need plasma-based weaponry in the Halo universe. Sure, it would be cool and all, and it might fit in with the way that they’re advancing on a technological level.
However, it’s important for the Covenant weapons to stand out, same goes for the UNSC and Forerunner weapons as well. If the UNSC start using Plasma, what would make them so different from the Covenant? Plus, from a gameplay perspective, bullets are better against health, while Plasma drains shields. If the UNSC has shield-tearing weapons, it will create a sense of confusion.
Halsey’s journal provided some great insight into the Covenant plasma weaponry. To paraphrase, it’s because the Covenant deconstructed Forerunner tech and tried to make it something it isn’t. Thus the variety of similar weapons (plasma rifle, repeater, storm rifle). They adapted found science to fit a need, instead of building something from the ground up like humans did with projectile weapons.
So canonically, there’s no real need for humans develop plasma weaponry unless it’s filling a niche that is currently exposed. Right now, I think human weaponry is pretty diverse, and covers most areas in terms of purpose and functionality.
Besides, I like my human weaponry to be slug-based and very kinetic. It’s how we roll. Unless we’re Spartan Lasering…
Human, Covenant, and Forerunner weaponry should remain unique and distinct.
Having Human laser technology would be too similar to both the Covenant and the Forerunner weaponry. It would have the “Star Wars” feel in which everyone uses the same types of weapons.
I like the idea. I would like to see a specific weapon that acts similar to the weapon we see most in Destiny.
I always thought the Assault Carbine used plasma, rather than projectiles for some reason anyway.
