So I was just thinking has it ever been said what the average human life expectancy is in the current Halo universe, because right now it’s around 80 but with all the medical and technology advancements in Halo I think it will be allot higher like stated in Mass Effect where the average human life span is 150 years.
Well…Johnson would have roughly been in his 60s (at least) in Halo 3, and he was still kicking butt and showed no signs of slowing down. It might be fair to say that 60 may be the new 30 in the Haloverse.
I would say the average life span is 130, with 65 to 70 being considered middle aged.
I would also say that between cryo freezing, and superior understanding of how to repair our biology, it is very reasonable to assume that people are easily making it to at least 100 years old on a very common basis in generally good health. Don’t forget that Humans have a very comprehensive understanding of genetics, which may suggest that genetic defects like cancer, asthma, or heart disease have been screened out. Without things like heart disease or asthma slowing people down, people would be ale to push themselves harder, or for longer.
So yeah, I am sure that the average lifespan is hovering around 130.
It depends on your definition of ‘lifespan’. If we are talking about just the age of the person (without adding and cryosleep or other age-altering technologies), according to Halopedia, it is 80-90 years, which is a little higher than the lifespan of today (81 for men and 76 for women, all in the United States). Though if we add in cryosleep I could easily see life expectancy reach 100+. Though this is the average. With medical technology 500 years more advanced, they must have ridden most human worlds of diseases such as cancer, tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis and other debilitating ailments, theoretically extending lifespans by a good 20-30 years, easily.
So although Halopedia says only 80-90, I believe something closer to 100-110 would not be illogical.
Johnson looks very good for a 60 years men, but he was a well succeed orion subject maybe if we knew normal marines age we could say a number more accurate than using johnson like parameter. In a fast search in halopedia I saw that Keyes is 57 in HaloCE, so maybe 50-60 really is the new 30, but I think that hardly a man reaches at 150.
Human lifespan in 500 years would be longer. I think it would be hard to get an actual number because cryosleep complicates things.
First, i believe you age differently in stasis, that’s why people in the military probally look younger. As another poster said 80-90 seems about right. Iirc Paragosky was something like 92, which is probally the oldest person i seen in halo media.
Maybe the lifespan was low because the pre-mature deaths caused by the war were skewing the numbers.
Thanks for the replies it’s probably much slower for spartans, Blue team are all in they’re late 40’s and haven’t slowed down one bit.

Halopedia only knows what is stated in books or game or comics. They are not an official website, so I would deem them untrustworthy in some aspects.

I’m pretty sure some official sources actually use Halopedia as a reference. For example, the United Rebel Front was accidentally capitalized on Halopedia, and all official material since has used the capitalization, where it originally was not capitalized.

If that’s right then MC will be kicking but for a long time! Honestly I was worried that he was getting to old and he would have to give it up… Which I hope he doesn’t. I really can’t imagine a halo game with him not in it… But let’s just see where the universe takes us eh?
Whatever it is, it can probably be highly extended through extensive cryosleep and flash-cloning organs.
This topic has actually interested me for quite some time. There’s still a lot we don’t know about the social technological advancements of us in 500 years - we’ve seen the kinda unimpressive military advancements, but we know next to nothing otherwise.
Well with all the augmentations the spartans go through I’m sure their lifespan is increased
