HUGE TOPIC ON THE FLOOD RETURNING

Right first I want to say shut up to all the people saying the flood were boring to fight, look at it this way we haven’t seen the flood since halo 3, so that was 9 years ago …look how far all the other enemies have come since halo 3 , all the mechanics have changed completely and they all work completely different , if 343 was to bring the flood back they would be COMPLETELY different , I mean look how the crawlers work and the soldiers , they all use tactics and t hey duck and dodge around you, the crawlers hunt you like prey circling you, maybe if the flood back back they would play out different like crowed around you spread out abit more, giving it more of a flood tactic, like swarm around all over the walls and ceilings , infecting everything they touch, unlike halo 3 were they all just came at you at once and you could just rocket them all down, literally flood the area completely , seeming as they are the most dangerous species in the galaxy they should e tough to fight, but they should also be fun aswell , the halo rings were designed to eradicate the flood , basically the halo meaning of halo was to do with the flood but we haven’t seem them for ages , comment down below a positive response to them coming back and ways to make them a more fun enemy to fight, they were so interesting to me and I want more of them

This topic is great on the flood. I would love to see a massive amount of flood come at you and infect you.

I think they would be a real good fight! I think we may see them in Halo 6. I think the perfect design for them would be similar to zombies from Left for Dead. Massive hoards of the undead troops running at you!!

Thank you brother

Hopefully see forerunners fighting the dam parasites aswel!

The flood is a great species and one of my favorite enemies to fight! However I don’t think that 343 will bring the flood back to the Halo franchise. In my opinion, the story of the flood ended with Halo 3. To bring it back would be cool, but not the same. It would take out the meaning of the past Halo games and make it seem much more bare and make the story very stale. To go through three whole games just to defeat an enemy and for it to come back again a decade later doesn’t seem right. The flood was Bungie’s legacy, and should not be 343’s. Sure in the expanded universe we have seen more signs of the flood, but it just isn’t the same anymore. Now instead of the flood being the largest threat in the galaxy, the prometheans are. 343 is trying to make a Halo trilogy of their own, and the flood does not really fit with what they would be going for. Maybe for a spin-off game you could be a spartan 4 fighting off some smaller infected areas in the galaxy, but I feel like it shouldn’t be used in current/future halo games.

They are bringing the flood back at some point. There have been hints everywhere in the EU. (Didact, Cortana still being influenced by a gravemind, Active flood on Spirit of Fire (comic), Presence of flood samples on other rings. Probably will wait until the Reclamation arc is over, but a war with the flood could be galactic in scale and seems to be the next logical antagonist faction. That is, unless 343 invents new enemies out of nowhere.

They can always appear in prequels. Halo 3 might get an Anniversary. They could do great things there. Or even with Halo Wars, I don’t know when the plot is set for its story (but I understand that misses the point). I somehow think it would be cheap to bring them back.

I do agree with what you are saying, but I’m not asking for a halo game based on the flood, just at least to have a few levels where they need to go to a ring and find something and stumble upon the flood , something along the lines of that

I want to see some marines in gas mask fighting the flood or some Odsts killing them that would be awesome

I’ve seen a few theories about how Cortana is on that Halo ring in the Legendary ending in order to use the Flood as further leverage to get the galaxy to bend to the Reclamation. Could be a good way to reintroduce them, show her insanity, and maybe have her come round to fighting with us again against a common enemy when they get out of hand.

Hopefully she releases the flood haha, makes sense seeming as she might be still corrupted by the grave mind

Yes that would be cool, seeing them hold of aload of flood then all getting infected

Isn’t there a flood spore on board The Spirit of Fire?

Hate to be “that guy”, but technically it has been since 8 years.

Halo Wars? 2008?

Unless you count expanded universe (comics, books, ect.)

I always hated the flood missions in Halo, but you raise a good point! I would love to see an evolved version of them in the firefight update or something. Maybe in Halo 6?

Forerunner flood enemyies bane of my existence… Yet it will be so fun! Just saying Legendary ending is so awesome!!!

A flood with similarities to the smoker from left 4 dead…That pulls you in with a chest cavity and worm like tentacles and tries to consume you and infect you…having to fight the way out of a gigantic flood like being in a puss sack and having to shoot out with the halo 5 smg something gross looking that would cause people to panic in co op or player vs player…Flood being able to stop vehicles like tanks like the EMP burst from the plasma pistol basically lay over the top half of a tank like a blob like substance or a boss…falling into a pool of that greenish nasty flood water ,giant flood etc. in some how that you can melee and shoot…Flood infected animals humans and hive on Earth Like a major outbreak of some sort…Maybe tying in with the Guardians…Off topic but a place with a down guardian or a crashed guardian with it’s wings jammed into the ground and it’s skull as well…A side story or an alternate universe involving the flood and promethians…Throwing a splinter grenade at the flood…Activating a promethian weapon that destroys the flood with a shock wave or a large beam of orange plasma/light or something more creative…More story involvement from one of my fav character roles the white scout armor lady from spartan assault cover…can’t remember her name right now lol…and the return of the engineers from halo odst for some useful reason…Flood spores or something anti air flood having to destroy egg sacks like on lost planet 1 and 2…a lot of contagion enemy vs enemy something very hard to deal with and a little bit frightening a lot of platforming and use of vehicle to escape dangerous flood type to try to find a weapon to destroy it weapon scarcity etc…The use of spartan charging ground pound flame throwers teamwork etc…You know the works…Marines that won’t immediately get cut down lol and odst etc more sandbox…All kinds of madness and chaos…Halo CE and Halo 2 dark feel…lol. halo 5 mechanics and new machanics with graphical overlay I guess if thats how you explain it…More combustle things…Nerve racking experiences…Escaping by the skin of your teeth…Exciting music that kicks in when something serious is going to happen…A race to the finish moment where a heavy flood or a hunter can slap your vehicle out of the way air vehicles that are not so obviously place and once again ant air flood lol.

Although I do see how the flood can be viewed as “Bungie’s legacy”, that is irrelevant because of their overall importance and role in the Halo universe.

The Flood are essentially the only villain that matters on the galactic scale in the Franchise. It is their sole mission to test species that they believe are ready for the Mantle, and assimilate any that are not ready. The Mantle and the Flood are the two most important factors to consider when talking about the Reclamation. Given the weight of the Flood in the overall plot of the halo universe, I can’t believe the the reclamation can end without the Flood having a part to play.
