HUGE HALO 4 QUESTION!!!!

I am one of the biggest halo geeks ever ok, i love the fiction and am going to play all of the campaigns (reach-3) about the time anniversary comes out. needless to say that i -Yoink- when halo 4 was announced, but i have only 1 concern, it isnt the thrusters, or the armor…this is it…Aren’t you guys worried the campaign might get tiresom, or bland? not because of the story, but because, if the game takes place in a forerunner structure, than THE WHOLE GAME AND ITS LEVELS MIGHT BE JUST FORERUNNER STRUCTURES, GREYYYYYYY…SILVER…idk guys, halo is a very colorful series, with exotic places and what not…but if the planet seen in the teaser is forerunner, arent the levels all gonna be
different tones of GRAY???

yeah that would be pretty boring to do and i had the same idea in mind except im going to wait untill halo 4 comes out and then play all of them

I see where your coming from, i cant even play reach MLG or other gametypes for more than 30 mins before my eyes start to hurt, and the blandness makes it boring then i just get off

exactly, i myself am in love with all campaighns, and there stories, but if this planet is a forerunner structure, than chances are that all the levels will be the same thing,------------ long, huge. silver hallways, with the occasional lights--------------------,pleas tell me that im wronggggg

> but because, if the game takes place in a forerunner structure, than THE WHOLE GAME AND ITS LEVELS MIGHT BE JUST FORERUNNER STRUCTURES, GREYYYYYYY…SILVER…idk guys, halo is a very colorful series, with exotic places and what not…but if the planet seen in the teaser is forerunner, arent the levels all gonna be

QFT.

well I’m pretty sure that if the forerunners would bother creating mountains, oceans and forests etc on a giant metal ring then they would probably do the same thing INSIDE a giant metal ball/planet…
Are you guys talking about the blandness of forge world maps?? I agree and I think this is the biggest reason why I don’t like playing Reach MP. I liked in Halo3 how every map felt and LOOKED different… Bungie really got lazy here

Don’t forget that Halo: Combat Evolved took place exclusively on a Forerunner structure, and that was arguably the best-looking Halo as far as artistic direction is involved. Look at the inside of the shield world in Halo Wars. Alpine everywhere, beautiful blue sky, bodies of water, etc. Forerunner structures are beautiful. Don’t let Halo: Reach’s Forge World variants -Yoink!- your taste for Forerunner architecture. Besides, I have a feeling Halo 4 won’t be Forerunner-structure only…

that was forge world look t halo 1 and halo wars huge amazing forerunner structure i’m prettysure halo 4 won’t look like forge world which is plain and a shame to forerunner builders name

My only real concern is that the Halo franchise at some point becomes unprofitable for MS/343i and they stop making new games before the trilogy is completed. Although I think that’s unlikely (at least at the moment), who’s to say how it’ll be in half a decade?

I am the OP, this is just my otther account, anyways, thanks guys for clearing it up, i really thought that master cheif was gonna walk inside the whole planet, through long, silver, confusing forerunner hallways, a la forge world…so you guys say that inside the planet there are different sort of climates/terrains, like on the halos???

Unless the planet is a gateway to another, brighter one or is a sprawling metropolis on the inside, sort of like a shield world.

we have no idea what is inside or if their isnt a portal inside leading to some other place, plus if it is a shield world it would be like the one in halo wars with grass, mountains and the whole shebang

‘No one, not even Dr. Halsey, had been prepared for this.
Overhead blazed a golden sun. The sky, if it could be called that, was robin’s-egg blue at the horizon but quickly deepend to indigo and black the higher one looked, then warmed again as it neared the sun. There were no stars.
The surface stretched out in all directions – meadows, rivers, lakes, forests, winding pathss all perfectly flat. All flat, that is, until Linda sighted through her Oracle scope. She then discovered every horizon sloped upward untill these curving surfaces vanished in the extreme distance.
Linda said it felt like being at the bottom of a large bowl.
Dr. Halsey had assured them they most definately were not in a "“bowl.”
“A sphere,” she said, repeating this for the third time to Chief Mendez, “is where we are.”’

quoted from the last chapter of ‘ghosts of onyx’. does this sound like a constant dull grey/silver metal enviroment? and did halo, a construct with a surface area a fraction that of earths have as a very varied range of enviroments, desert,ice,swamp/rainforest, building, costal, and fields with rivers. what makes you think this will be any LESS varied?

im not worried anymore, but what lead me to think of the dull grey environment, was the planets dull gray outer layer, i mean yeah, the halos had awesome environments, but we could see that it had it, the inside part was clearly visable as earthlike…and prior to this post, i had no clue what was inside the dull grey planet aside from more dull and greyness…but u guys cleared that up…SO I CAN EXPECT LUSH RICH ENVIRONMENTS IN HALO 4 :)))))))

Could I have somebody translate this into a recognisable form of English? Please?

As you wish…

I am one of the biggest Halo geeks ever. Ok, I love the fiction and am going to play all of the campaigns (starting with Reach, then H:CE, H2, and H3) around the time when HCEA comes out. Needless to say that I cried tears of joy when Halo 4 was announced, but I have only one concern; it isn’t the Master Chief’s thrusters seen in the announcement trailer, or his armor.
Instead it’s this: Aren’t you worried that the campaign might become tiresome or bland? Not because of the story, but because if the game takes place in a Forerunner structure, practically the whole game and all or most of its levels are probably going to look like player-made Forge maps built in the Coliseum; i.e. everything is just grey and silver with a few lights.
I don’t know, guys, but with a few exceptions, the Halo series has always consisted of rather bright and colorful levels, with exotic places and whatnot. But if the planet or planet-like structure seen in Halo 4’s trailer is indeed of Forerunner origin, aren’t the levels all going to be just different tones of grey?

Now, Tom, you’ve got no excuse to provide a meaningful reply.

Can anyone give me a pic/screenie of what the inside of a dyson sphere/shield world looks like?

> Can anyone give me a pic/screenie of what the inside of a dyson sphere/shield world looks like?

That really depends on how the creators of a Dyson sphere or a shield world would want it to be. At least in Halo Wars, the inside of the shield world looks a lot like the inner side of a Halo ring except that it’s a sphere instead of a ring. There are seas, mountains, graslands, and so on. The only major difference would be that there’s an artificial “mini sun” in the center of the sphere.

Edit: This picture might help. It looks like an unfinished shield world with still a huge hole in the sphere, but you can clearly see the seas and landmasses and the sun in the sphere’s center.

Edit #2: Here’s another one.

Halo CE managed to pull it off just fine. That was because there were different environments on Halo. Such as the snowy lands of Assault on the Control Room, the dark swamps of 343 Guilty Spark, the exotic beaches of The Silent Cartographer and the forests and caverns of the level Halo.
