HUGE gamebreaking matchmaking bug found!

My friend and I were playing ranked doubles today and when I ranked into platinum we could no longer play together. This also happened when trying to play ranked arena with other friends who were not ranked yet. The worst part about it is that it gives you a bogus error message saying there are problems with the server. I assure you there are no problems with the server (I can play solo and with other people who have their ranks) and its not letting us play together on purpose.

Amazing how a game with an already low player count would put in MORE roadblocks to playing with your friends. To make matters worse, my friend couldn’t even find a ranked match because the queue times were over 10 minutes, so he can’t get his rank anyway. This is crazy.

Maybe its not a ā€œbugā€, but it is certainly something that is ruining the game. At the very least the error message should reflect what is actually happening, IE something like ā€œcannot queue with teammates that aren’t ranked yetā€. But ideally this whole thing would just be removed!

If i remember there is a limit to CSR difference in your fireteam.
The difference must not exceed 700 or 750CSR isn’t it ?
So if your plat your CSR is to high compared to an unraked (which is 0 I guess ?)

Unranked players can only play with unranked, bronze, silver or gold players.

It’s a ā€˜feature’ they added to keep people from making Smurf accounts to boost friends ranks by getting into matches with lower ranked teams.

Unfortunately, the trade off has become you can’t play ranked with your friends unless they are at a similar skill level. Which in turn has also made ranked matches have some of the absolute worst queue times.

This is only true if they’ve never previously been ranked. Many of my qualification matches paired me against Onyx players.

It’s all explained here;

It may be a bit frustrating… Especially at the start of each season… But overall it’s a good thing.

This game is a bug in the Matrix, they should patch it out.

343 continues to make Halo as anti-social as possible failing to realize that it was the social aspects that made Halo popular.

This is NOT a good thing.

Anti-social Halo will not reach the ā€œbroader audienceā€ that 343 claims to be looking for.

Sadly some players ruin it for others. They could have dealt with the smurf problem by only allowing one account per person instead.

And how do you know if those multiple accounts are from just 1 person and not from multiple people in that household (or even the neighbours?)

Or what to think about student complexes where hundreds of people share an internet connection. Can then just 1 person of all those students play halo?

At that point its just making excuses for the people who make smurf accounts and exploit the rank system.

There are players who have boasted about making like 30 accounts, or claimed to know someone who did that.

Perhaps read what i actually said before making personal attacks based on something i never said. I said that the ā€˜solution’ @rilakkumakitten would also prevent legitimate players from playing and that can’t be the idea. No one is denying that smurfing is a problem, especially on the higher end on ranked.

And yes i also have experienced tons of miss matched games in Infinite and its infuriating. And smurfing is definitely a big part of the problem. But it’s not only smurfing, it’s also just a non-functioning SBMM that just put players in matches they don’t even belong in. Sometimes a player who is much more skilled then everybody else, sometimes a player who is much less skilled then the rest (one of my friends stopped playing after he as silver player got placed into a match with only high diamonds and onyx players, that was the final drop for him). Obviously what problem is bigger depends on the skill level and if it’s a ranked or social match (on ranked ofcourse smurfs are much more common and problematic then on social).

I don’t deny that and those should definitely be banned (both their smurfs and their main account if they can find out that).
But your sollution (like i said above in my reaction to purevengance) would also ban legitimate players that don’t smurf or even have a 2nd account (not every alt account is a smurf obviously).
The biggest problem is that you can’t know for sure wich account is from who, so the only way to find out is if an account has strange k/d’s (bad k/d’s against weak players and then suddenly very good ones against way more skilled players).
