So about HUD’s on Halo 4, i think you should be able to custom your HUD on multiplayer(!) It shouldn’t affect in gameplay, just purely aesthetic part of your Spartan. So different HUD variant from previous Halo games/series :
H: Reach stylish: HUD(Pre-Alpha HUD! , seen asyellow)
SPI stylish: HUD(Based from Headhunters Motion Comic!)
HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL stylish: HUD(Based from Halo Legends)
Variant of Mark: IV stylish: HUD(Based from H:L)
Second Variant of Mark: IV [EVA] stylish:HUD (Based__from H:L)__
None of the link works, this is due to the extra “[url” in the end, remove it to get them work.
Anyways, about HUDs, I wouldn’t like any effects, they only limit your abilities to see, would be more of a distraction. What I would like to see is different HUD styles and colors. Although, green and red color should be left away for obvious reasons, other colors could be added. I would also like to see different HUD for each helmet. But no effects for aforementioned reasons.

Its nice to read that even somebody likes the other idea, ty! You are right about that, that the HUD effects can limit your abilities to see, but meaby they could be added wisely so they wouldn’t limit vision too much etc…
My preferred HUD would be Halo:Reach style layout (no backgrounds or hinderings), but allow the color to be changed with an option. Keeping it simple would be the right idea. Finally, I like the way light shone in Reach on your visor and gun, so I’d go for that.

I respect your idea, but some people including me or is it just me xD do get bored while plying with the same HUD all the time. And variants of different HUD’s would take nothing anything away, I understand that they shouldn’t be too complicated nor they should be forced for players, just custom. They would add more personality for your Spartan.
It would be cool in campaign to have these effects when you for example are in a very cold place and when a grenade explodes next to you you could get that blurred effect. But I wouldn’t like it as effect as we now have the armor-effects in Reach because first of all: nobody except for you could really see them very well and second: they are a liability and I’m not paying cR for something like that.
I do like the first idea, it would be awesome to be able to pick your HUD or just get a specific HUD per specific helmet, that way people wouldn’t only buy a helmet for the looks, but also for the HUD. It would also be cool if you could change colors and maybe where what stands in the style of your chosen HUD

I think it would be useful to adjust the HUD color. If you’re been on Bnet, a common complaint of the Reach HUD, was the blue gets lost when look upwards toward the sky due to the lack of contrast.

Yeah, thats what I am talking about And I did mean that HUD effects would be just as you mentioned only for when you are in battle, etc etc… Not as Armor effects in Reach

Very small changes like different shapes and colors [not red] the shapes wouldn’t really cahnge the base shape so if it was the DMR you could change it into a full circle.

I see. But about colour, the reticle colour would be changed same when you would change the HUD’s colour. I could agree about reticle change only for limited amount of weapons…
the idea of different helmets having different HUDs sounds cool
So you could have say
ODST- HUDS
Attachments
and under huds you could have DEFAULT (as in default blue), ODST (like from odst, this one would be unlocked by default), Custom (the most expensive but you could choose what you liked, and it woulc carry between helmets)
