When I play Halo I imagine looking out of the helmet as if I’m in the experience. In the first Halo your looking at a flat HUD with no curvature, no HUD outline, and you can’t see your body except for your arms. Halo 2 was about the same, and 3 was starting to “wrap” the HUD around what would be your field of vision. ODST and Reach we’re on the right track and it helped myself get deeper in the game as a result. To me it’s the small details like this that makes the experience that much richer and more immersive to really put “you” in the game. I really like direction Halo 4 is going with the “jet fighter” style heads up display. Different screen shots I’ve seen show the HUD at different transparencies, some are darker and some are lighter. Can we turn this up and down to our liking? Better yet, in some screen shot I’ve seen the very edges of the HUD are blacked out to turn your T.V. into a representation of the visor you’re looking out of through the Chief’s eyes. What do you guys think about this feature and will it help you feel more “in” the game, or is it something that doesn’t really matter to you at all?
I too would like a HUD transparency slider.
