Whenever I have a Thruster or Repulsor, I always forget that I have it and forget to utilize it. But I never forget when I have a grapple because of the constant reminder on my reticle. How would you guys feel about something like this? yeah, i’m a noob. I should just remember, but this wouldn’t really lower the skill ceiling, but would lower the skill floor (which imo, is what should be strived for in all games. Low skill floor, high skill ceiling). Anyway, let me know your thoughts.

i feel like this would make the reticule too busy. Would be better if they just moved the equipment and grenades to (was it?) top left like in Halo 3.
The main problem is everything is crammed into the bottom corner.
Previous halo games made it much easier to tell what you had at a casual glance.
Make the words and icons bigger. It helps.
They should move the icon for Equips nearer to your Shield Bar, Top Right corner. Much more visible.
Then the bottom right can be changed to reflect the bullet count visually again.
One thing which is amazing about Halo is when you fire your gun, you can see the Bullets depleting in your HuD. So satisfying to see that.
Another reason why default thrusters we’re better. You didn’t have to worry wether you had it or not. You just had it. Even funnier when I see people fiddling with the equipment trying to swap it for a power up.
I like this concept. I’m always forgetting that I have equipment and barely use it as a result unless it’s OS or AC…half the time I don’t even realise I’ve picked up equipment so an improvement to the HUD would be most welcome.
This is not a good case to say Default Thrusters were a good thing. Let Halo 5 be its own thing, but extreme mobility is not supposed to be a thing in Halo, period.
If anything, Thruster is simply a manual version of older Halo’s Speed Up power up. There’s a good reason why Speed Up was never put into normal matchmaking.
Well my argument is that equipment creates waste of time rather than conclusions. Equipment goes unused. People fumble with it. It creates randomness. It’s more of a mess of a concept than a coherent one.
That’s because equipment in Infinite are designed to be power ups. You are meant to be able to play the game even without using equipment. H5 is designed around the Spartan Abilities. So maybe if people don’t use Equips they should start using them?
Also I see no Fumble. I only see lag and desync causing people to “miss” picking up pickups. In a good ping game, I press and hold X while running over Equips and it swaps it out instantly with no delay.
Also you know what? Classic Halo players playing H5 for the first time don’t even know what Spartan Abilities are and rarely use them until they see others using it for an advantage. By your logic, they can also make the argument that it’s “unused” and “fumbly” and “a mess of a concept”
No argument you can possibly make suggests that Equipment is any more inferior or superior than H5’s Spartan abilities. They are fundamentally different games with different designs intended for their mechanics.
I’ve just been trying to be more conscious of my equipment when I pick them up. Doing that and being more liberal in my use of them has helped a lot more in remembering them.
Been flinging people off the map with the Repulsor more often, and frustrating aim when I Thrust around corners or during a gunfight. I think the Drop Wall remains my favorite though, right alongside Grappleshot.
It’s not your fault. We’ve collectively bemoaned the bottom-right weapon cradle, citing how every other iteration was objectively superior, but you know 343 Industries— always reinventing the wheel, whether or not they have the strength to do it right.
Personally I’d love a reticle indicator for repulsor, shield wall, and dash.
