Hub world

How do you all feel about a Halo Hub that’s like a social area play ground to show off armor, meet new people, and have little sections of classic halo community mini games?

Maybe even a player card that floats next to the person with let’s say 3 of their picked accomplishments in halo Infinite to show off.

Or people can put tags on them selves so others no what they’re looking to squad up and do.just a few ideas but I’m sure lots could be done with it

Nah, not in a mainline story Halo game. Infinite needs to have a closing story arc and a definitive and well executed plot. A more open world design with a social hub wouldnt fit when it comes to story progression, nor when it comes to the flow of the game.

Inevitably, some will say, " well Destiny did it." But they fail to see the point that this is story focused, character driven, first person shooter. Not a looter-shooter, action RPG.
Now, should they branch out and create another game where that is the focus, then I could see it as a strong possibility. But not in the main story, and certainly not for the Chief. People already complained about his appearance enough to have the art style drastically change, why would they deter from his already established appearance and armor?

I’d like having a small hub world for multiplayer lobbies. One of the funnest things to do in other Halo titles was customizing my player and showing it off in game lobbies, or conversely, looking at other people spartans. adding a hub world for the multiplayer lobbies would be a lot cooler than just seeing them in a title card in a lobby menu.

I’d be ok with something like this, would make things a bit easier in terms of grouping up. With how many games now that have these kinds of things, surely it wouldn’t take too much time or effort to throw together. I can see some not liking it though; whether it’s because it makes it ‘less Halo’ or simply because they don’t care for it is their opinion.

So what bungie already did with destiny ?

I’m not talking about this affecting campaign in anyway. We pretty much already have something like this in halo have if you do a customs games search. Just pretty much a lobby with a map you can join from the multiplayer section.

I think for the people that would say it’s not halo arnt thinking about what we could do to make it halo. We have so many unique things about our game, a little social space with mini games, grunts to kill that explode glory, skulls weekly getting hidden on the map. Just a place to take everything halo and say HERE IT IS yoink everything up.

Yeah, why not. It’s a good idea. Lots of havock, fun, and friends to be had in something like that.

I dig it. Maybe when players queue into a multiplayer search, it’ll put them into a sort of ‘lobby’ map where they can mess around while they wait for a match.

I could see like a pretty game lobby where you could see other Spartans walking around, customizing thier armor or weapon skins, in like an armory section on the Infinity. In that sense, yeah, having a social place could have its benefits.

Bungie tried it. Stuck with it. Good for their content focused game.

Sledgehammer tried it. Call of duty learned from it. Didnt work out.

343 could try it. Microsoft might invest on it. Who knows.

Personally I dont mind them, but i wont focus much gametime to it. Im gonna grind the more key fundamentals.

The feature seems more about selling stuff too the player through ‘Fomo’ and a common area where one opens req packs ( cod) with an audience or a virtual marketplace ( destiny , ), so no I’m not a fan as it’s designed for the dev’s to profit from . If I’m looking to make friends and chill in game plenty of ways to do it without a manufactured lobby .

I agree with the “im not a fan as it’s designed for the devs to profit from” that’s not what I want at all. I pretty much just want a centralized Halo playroom to yoink about and meet people. It would be a good social area for people who are halo fans but arnt into forums

No matter what you want it to be , if implemented , 343 will make it resemble ; (if not mirror) ; other similar concepts. So you can bet , if this makes it in game , it will be a marketplace , no more , no less.

I think if 343i did this they’d catch no end of crap for aping Bungie/Destiny. I also don’t feel like it’s necessarily an awesome fit for Halo anyways. Hub lobbies don’t do much to enhance immersion for me since there are constantly people messing around, spamming emotes, jumping off things and trying to access off-map areas. That’s all fun and dandy in a game where you go in expecting it, but I don’t know about implementing it into Halo.

Regardless of how anyone feels about destiny , bungie certainly do innovate in ways others have trouble following .343i halos really do feel like they are just chasing industry trends and trading on someone else’s good name .
I recently started playing the D2 new light f2p it really is halo evolved and in some ways the halo I never knew I wanted .

I think it would be a great idea to add a hang out spot. Kind of like a waiting room lol

I see where you’re going with this OP. Kind of like Warframe’s ‘Tenno Relay’ locations players can go to visit/interact with one another. In that case bring it on, would be a nice add on for Halo IMO.

Nah, it seems overly unnecessary. Idk why the hub idea has become so popular, it ends up being overly ignored and the “social” use is very rarely ever done by the players.

It was cool when destiny did it but now lots of games do it, and ultimately what’s really the point of it? I’d rather them sink that time into something else.
