Do you think it was worth putting in vs taking out other vehicles? Do you think it’s a good vehicle? What are your opinions about it in general? I like it, but it seems frail at times.
I like killing other vehicles with it. It seems actually easier to kill another Mantis than a lone Spartan. Fighting infantry with the Mantis can be extremely frustrating.
I like its design, because I’m an Armored Core player (past and present games), yet I feel that the Chain Gun should have a bit more power to it. The rockets already have good direct damage and splash damage, but its chain gun overheats after killing a Spartan or two.
I’ll try to put my bias against mechs being in Halo aside.
I don’t feel it is as fun as past vehicles. I would rather have a Hornet, Revenant, Falcon, or Chopper than the Mantis. I will say it fits a unique niche, it’s basically a scorpion designed for smaller/more cramped maps.

As the above said, its basically a Walking Scorpion.
That said, its a Mech, and mechs are awesome. My major problem with it is honestly the long -Yoink- time it takes to get into it. If an enemy is anywhere near me when I try to board it, I’m getting grenaded.
I rarely use it. And more rarely manage to kill anybody with it… My only good kills with it are:
Meltdown. Two guys in a warthog were coming and I was at blue base (their base). I took their mantis, and they passed shooting at me and went down the slope. They quickly turned around and came for another pass but i surprised them by jumping down bigfoot first and landing the giant mantis on their little car.
Ragnarok. Shoot a rocket and sent a hog flying. Splattered an unlucky guy.
That being said, i dont like using the mantis, i am just terrible with it when i am not lucky.
