How'd you meet your best friend on Xbox?

At some point during our gaming endeavors, we’ve had that one player that stuck with your mind after playing a match with them who’d eventually become your best friend on Xbox. Started out as strangers at first, next thing you were BFFs together in party chat and in your favorite game(s) all the time, to the point that not being with each other could be considered unusual.

Do you remember meeting your best friend on Xbox for the first time? What was it like? How long has it been since then? What games do you play together? Are you both still close to each other to this day?

I met my best friend in Halo 5’s Infection mode in Dec. 2016 after accepting their random invite. She was a fellow Canadian who lived in the same province as me, which rang a bell within me. Whenever I was bored, I joined her lobbies whenever I was bored and we became very good friends from that point on. And thanks to her, I got introduced to Dead By Daylight – which I highly recommend – and found each other on Kik, Discord, and eventually Facebook. Had I ignored their one invite back then, things would’ve been much different.

And if you’re wondering, we’re not boyfriend-girlfriend. She’s already taken.

I honestly wish I had that one person that I would always love playing with, be it a guy or girl (would love to have a gamer girl I was close to, but… shrug ). I’ve met a number of people Ive really enjoyed playing Halo, Call of duty and Destiny with. The first friend I added on when I got Xbox LIVE back on June 2nd, 2007 was my now former youth pastor. Cory and I don’t play Halo hardly anymore together; he’s not happy with 343i’s direction with 4’s multiplayer and 5 overall. He has a wife and two daughters, one whom he has introduced Halo to. He’s on Destiny a lot these days. He enjoys playing Halo when its Bungie’s games really, and maybe Halo 4. If Halo 6 is a great game I think we’d play it.

So other than him, I’ve met others from playing online and inviting them/being invited, like Backstabber and his brothers. Not played with him or talked with him in a while. Then there’s FTF Phoenixx99. I met him and a few other guys through the first Halo clan I was part of, back in 2016…? sometimes in the last two years. The guy who invited me to the clan never talked to me after that. The clan overall was mostly full with knuckleheads, but these few guys were great fun to hang out with. I’ve not chatted with them much, but when we played, Phoenix was a great teammate. I still have a small number of them on my friends list.

It’s been almost a year since I met up with the discord guys. I consider you all (you know who you are) my favorite people to play with and to talk to since then. Discord has changed how I talk to people online and how I play games, like Facebook did for me like eight years ago. It’s an extension of Xbox LIVE almost, just with its own set of communities that aren’t just gamers. You, S1erra107, Wraith0912, EmperorNova, SaneMountain, erickyboo and I can throw in Exenius and a few mods. Ive not played much with Comedy, and never played with Snickerdoodle ( :frowning: ), which I’d love to.

Eventually I’m sure to make a new close friend to play games with, be it a guy or girl. Maybe that one person (girl) will be my first girlfriend. Won’t that be an amazing friend to play games with

I had one back in H2. I think we met during a FFA game, but I don’t exactly remember. After that, I always partied up with him and his other friends to play MM or do other fun stuff in customs like getting out of the map parties for example. That lasted for a good while, but I eventually left Halo for a few years and came back during Reach where we met up again. Unfortunately, we eventually drifted apart mostly because of me and my terrible rationale back then and I don’t think he really plays much Halo anymore.

I’ve had a few,but the one that I would consider a good friend that I actually met in real life I met through someone else on xbox

Uhh… yeah. About that. My best friend on xbox… Yeah got nothin, sorry boss.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

There are people I quite like playing with (some I would say I genuinely like), but I don’t think I have or would have somebody that meets that qualification of best friend on live. The person who is actually my best friend I’ve known for decades and we have years of memories and backing each other to rely on. I’m slow to form attachments in general and I believe it works even slower online. The people on my live friends list for the most part are people to play with not people I have a genuine emotional attachment to. I like people that show up when I have a customs session and enjoy playing/conversing in the short term…but a lot of the people on my friends list have gone dark over the years and it doesn’t particularly bother me when that happens. I may enjoy playing with someone, but I’m not emotionally attached to the point where it bugs me if they stop playing.

I’m glad that some people have found true friendships online however, even if it isn’t my thing;

No special story but I have three good friends on XBOX and we meet via true achievements.

I’m sure you’ll eventually run into that one person at some point or another. It might be a coincidence, or possibly even fate.

My best friend on Xbox is sadly the only friend because I’m homeschooled… Rip but we met in an infection game on black friday we were the last 2 competing for number 1,last man,and the joy of clipping the other in a naire we were by magnum by the vending machine I was covering one way and he had the other way we both ended the game as top 2 (I won by 5 points with an amazing flatline) and ended with 30+ kills each he got a killpocalypse and I got a killtastrophe he invited me I joined we played a couple games and found out we were about the same age and we constantly sweat in the infection playlist (he is better than me though lol) and since that day we have always been partners he helped me get my highest kill game also and I helped with his highest kill game

Brothers in arms. Classic. :muscle:

Well I don’t personally go out of my way to make friends online, Lone Wolf and all. But seriously I avoid it a little since it IS the internet and there are tons of creepy people everywhere. However i do have real life friends who play Xbox. There is one person who I’ve played a few games of Halo 5 with and it’s my company leader. They’re cool and we just play for the sake of the game.

I have met a lot of people online I would consider my friends, but there are two that really stand out. Back in Halo 2 I was in an FFA match on Colossus and I was neck and neck with another guy. I managed to win barely, but he challenged me to a 1v1 custom. Another player from the lobby wanted to watch. Those two players became my good friends for quite a while. Unfortunately we have not played together since the end of Halo 3, and they have either changed their gamertags, or given up Halo all together…

playing Halo 3 during a Sandtrap match.

Everyone I get on mic with is either 10 years old who only plays custom games, is with a friend he knows and has hung out with much longer than myself, or is only playing Halo for the achievements. Not much friend-making potential, here. I wish there were more people around me who love Halo as much as I do. That’s why I like this site so much

On halo obviously but it was a clan recruiting lobby on halo 5 customs and he was trying to get the leaders attention by drawing -Yoinks!- on the window with his pistol.

I’m sure some people on Waypoint would be more than willing to hang out with you; just befriend each other on Xbox and arrange for a meet-up!

Wraith0912 and SaneMountain212 are one of many people I’ve met on the site and hung out in-game. Heck, perhaps you and I can party up in the future!

Oh boy! Well my husband introduced me to Halo with Reach but I didn’t really play multiplayer until Halo 5. But do I have to have just one? I’d say it was about 2 or 3 years when I met my buddies. In fact, I have about a core group of 9 people that I play with on a regular basis (not counting my husband). If at least 4 of them isn’t on a night, it’s very rare lol. Out of those 9 core buddies, my husband and/or myself have actually personally met 5 of them lol (we used to move across country a lot so while driving by we would stop and catch up). We plan on making trips to meet the others whenever we can. Xbox buddies are amazing and are some of our closest friends now

So one day I’m playing cod and I meet this guy
