But i was poking around the Internet and found an April fools joke about lock replacing chief XD it was awesome but what do if 343 actually replace chief?
If they replaced chief, it better be with Fred or Kelly -.- and it better be about finding chief.
But seriously? I think future Halo games could do well without Master chief just fine. There is A LOT of lore to draw from and any story based around the expanded universe would be a strong game.
Chief is 47 years old. He’s been through heck in a handbasket. I know that he’s a “gaming icon”, but he’s not like Mario or Sonic - he’s a human. The poor guy can’t go on forever, and 343i has said in the past they don’t plan on pushing him into his 80’s. His story will come to an end eventually, and the Halo Universe will be able to go on without him no matter what people say. There’s still plenty of other characters and other stories that can be told for a long time to come.

I agree but i think he has little more potential before he goes especially since he just been reunited with blue team (in my opinion) but i won’t kill 343 if they do take him away but i think he should still be the main character in halo 5 which i was saying Yes for but i am open for a halo 6 or 7 featuring buck or Fred as the main character or even lock
FacelessProject yes i was little worried but i think a little more about it i am starting to think it might be best if he goes soon i mean he been my favorite character (probably not the only one) but he is going to be in 5 games or maybe even 6 and i got to say that is a lot of master chief so now that i think of it i agree hopefully 343 does a good ending to a great character and Yes sooo much lore that it could make ALOT of games like halo wars 2 (EPIC)

Thing is, the age factor doesn’t really make much of a difference, due to the whole cryo-sleep thing.
IMO it’s highly unlikely they’ll ever truly get rid of him; by your logic, Lara Croft should have retired as the Tomb Raider long ago.
Chief should stay the main character till the end of this saga. It would be odd for xbox iconic character to exit the series right in the middle of the story saga, specifically because 343 is just now diving in to his character within the games. Look at halo 4, the whole game was about cortana dying and developing chief; what would be the point of that game if chief gets removed.
Personally I hope for at minimum of two games with Chief and blue team. Would a crime to have chief with blue team and then just being a one time deal.
Accept it and be glad that 343i is showing the confidence and ability to move Halo’s story forward in a meaningful way without relying on one character to showcase the games.
Even if and I say IF the Chief is really replaced with another protagonist, the plot will most likely be about the Chief’s legacy. The Master Chief’s story is not getting old any time soon!

Yeah i mention that blue team had potential (A lot of it) but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if halo 6 has a new character or lock as the main but i hope blue team is in at lease has half of the campaign, maybe blue team can end the reclaimer trilogy with master chief and blue teams last stand of epicness XD and introduce the new character or countinue lock’s story in the next trilogy or end the main storyline and work games that go into the lore. You know what, it would be cool to see the Forerunner against the flood in a game but yeah it would be little weird to end master chief in the middle of a trilogy so it be best to have halo 7 a new charter if they are planing to continue it beyond H6 (it would also be cool to see a arbiter-focus campaign starting after the event on where ever they leave him off in the last game of halo well i think so)
As long as it’s don in a good way… and not to shoehorn in a new character or minority for the sake of doing it… (I’m still a little lackluster over Marval…). Locke/Fred/Kelly/Linda/Thorne/Bucke are are acceptable replacements as long as its not done in that way.
Besides that, we can always get into the human-covi war and play more blue team. I would really hate for the halo universe to keep having ISSUES just for the sake of getting money… I mean look at old EU star wars or WoW… 1 frigging issue after another purely for money… Universes go downhill if you keep doing that. so some things in the past would be nice.

Yea I have no problem if chief eventually gets removed because there is so much lore and I love halo because of the universe not for one character. I also don’t want 343 to keep putting chief in the game if they don’t know where to take him as a character, TV shows that last to many season always start ruining characters because they don’t know what to do with them and then the story starts suffering as well.
I hope most future Halo games keep the duel story telling, they can even add in a third character because there is just much more you can do with the alternative perspectives. Arbiter focus campaign would be great or if they bring him back as a switching character.

I’d assume they’d also be changing the name of their game from “Halo” to something else. I’d consider that a clear sign that they’re making a brand new game franchise/series.

Chief’s cool and all, but he’s never been a major favorite of mine. Give him a proper send-off though, give him some cameos now and then, that sort of thing once his story is over.

Whatever his send off, it has to involve him crashing into something from a great height
No worries about MC dieing out since he will likely get enhanced by Forerunner technology and get to live for thousands of years like the Forerunners did.
