Reason I ask is because I have been neglecting Halo since Far Cry 3 came out…
Now I have finished that (just got the co-op achievements to do) I will come back to Halo but need some sleep first… but was wondering if Ep 5 is better or worse than the previous episodes (seem to have been getting better each week but the goodness has to plateau at some point).
Better than any of the previous episodes in my opinion.
Highlights include a tower defense section, failable missions, fighting off a massive number of prometheans to kill a giant glowing sphere, and playing griffball with hunters.
First chapter is pretty enjoyable when you realise the weapons in the various fully loaded weapon crates respawn with each wave. Defensive objectives aren’t enough to offset the repetition of that place used for chapter 2 and 3, hope it won’t be back in January. Vehicles are fun on chapter 4, especially squeeful when I played two player legendary and it had mantises instead of hogs. Even with mobility chapter 5 is a pain to traverse on foot and the warthogs near the end are too little too late. Wraiths improve the situation but stealing them can be difficult when most fellow online spartans will board and destroy them on sight (although an empty one spawns at some point) and even when you do get one there is a lot of fuel rod enemies about.
Finishing off the hunters with the “sports equipment” was super fun.
Story cliffhanger would have been better if the achievements didn’t spoil it, wondering what Palmer has been up to. Roland steals the show, he’s clearly the best character in Spartan Ops. Not at all affected whether Spartan Thorne is dead or not, since I haven’t built up any attachment to majestic team. Other than the odd bit of voice chat they should have had better (i.e. actual) appearances outside of cutscenes.
Just played through them and got 100% achievements finally.
Kind of enjoyed them (except for the horrible lag online… did them solo offline in the end).
Only complaint was being spawned multiple times BETWEEN two or three Hunters. That was fun… NOT! Instant splatterification. But otherwise I still love the story.
I hope they don’t waste the next episode doing the cliffhanger resolution thing… ie “LAST TIME ON HALO: INFINITY” and wasting time doing a recap.
