The way that 343 markets Infinite is going to be huge for Infinite’s release. It’s going to be important for them to go above and beyond in their marketing strategies to 1) bring back a lot of the old fanbase that died off, 2) bring in the new generation of gamers (“Fortnite kids”, if you will), and 3) reassure the die-hards that the game is incredible and that they won’t have to go through another MCC or Halo 5 release disaster. I’m curious to see how you all want to find out about Halo: Infinite in the coming months/year, and what you think will benefit the potential consumers the most. Here are some options 343 has and ways they and Bungie have done in the past:
- “Hunt The Truth” style with hidden messages in videos and things that the community has to seek out (one of my favorites). - Live Action related to Infinite. - More comics/books to set the stage. - “The Sprint” from Halo 5. A video series where 343 went behind the scenes on the making of Halo 5 in various areas and also revealed things along the way. - Announcements at most/every big game event (RTX, E3, etc). - Pre-release competition(s) for the pros. - A get-together for prominent community member to play through the first campaign mission or something on Twitch/Mixer. - Other (I know there are a ton more ways; these are just to get our thoughts flowing). What do you all think are some of the most important ways 343 should market, or at least the ways you want to see and would enjoy the most? Let us (and 343 hopefully) know!
No live action anything. Game trailers with live action + preorders have always been disappointments.
Sprint is amazing don’t stop.

I disagree. The live action trailers from halo are some of my favorite things about the series and usually get me hyped for the game. Halo 3, reach and ODSTs trailers were phenomenal and the games delivered too. Halo 4s live action was ok and the game was ok. Halo 5s not very good. I’d be disappointed if they didn’t do one.
I think they should hold a huge fan event at the Microsoft theatre, similar to E3 but specifically for H6. Invite big name content creators/streamers/pros and fill the rest of the seats with regular fans. They would show off a -Yoink- ton of information including multiplayer and campaign demos and then let people play at kiosks after the show. Obviously stream the whole thing on at least Twitch, that way the entire community can tune in, get hype, and interact with each other.

That sounds great but only if it’s right before release. Just like movie trailers, I don’t like everything in the game to be spoiled for me before I even begin to play.
Well, for starters let’s hope the marketing for the game is accurate this time. That’s a good place to start.
I hope they don’t have any live action stuff before hand, that usually ties into the story and is somewhat required to understand certain characters, references, etc. It also doesn’t accurately show the product you’re getting. This extends to other materials that connect directly to the story of HI. One of the great things about Bungie’s stories is that you only needed the games to understand them, that should be the case with all mainline Halo games (I say this as a huge lore fan).
Really the only way they’re going to bring back the large part of the fanbase that left the series is by showcasing classic gameplay, art, music, sound, etc. gameplay being chief among that. I used to have quite a large amount of friends who played Halo, only one of them bought Halo 5 because of the gameplay (It was good, it’s just not Halo). They’re marketing needs to show off any of these attributes (hopefully classic gameplay) if they want to draw that crowd back.
Really: give hints at what we’re getting when we open the box in relation to more than just story (but tease that too).
So far I like what they’re doing with the E3 reveal and the small amounts of information we’re getting on streams. A small trickle of information in between major reveals is always a nice thing. The Sprint would be lovely.

You mean for campaign? I’m picturing maybe a 10-15 min demo, not of anything that’ll spoil important story details, rather just show off the game.
Honestly just like they have already done with the previous games. Perfect In the sense they don’t reveal too much at first which gets my mouth watered and hooked until release. Not crazy mouth foaming about it but always in the back of my mind until a week out where I’m a giddy little school girl waiting for release day.
