I don’t begrudge you for feeling lost and that 343 put in so much outside material without explaining it properly because that is exactly what they did and they admitted that they could have handled it better.

Like you said, he was woken when needed, Halo 3 even had Halo 4’s beginning cutscene, it was meant to be continued.

If Chief never woke up the Didact would never have risen and New Phoenix would still be there and Halo 4 never would have happened.
Win win win.
Also, Bungie had plenty of time to make Halo 4 and they didn’t. So…
EDIT: Good lord there’s something wrong with me. MOAR Brutes. I want to see more Brutes in the next few Halo games. I thought their place in the story was cool and they were fun to fight in ODST.
I think they need an ending where he finally can experience being human. For example siting on the beach having beer telling his children the story of his past or make him a leader of the UNSC or somthing. Screw how every single studio thinks that hero’s need to die… I wanna see 343 end this game differently.Ever heard of the term happy ending 343? I’d spread the word if you agree. Developers deffenatly look at forums to see what the community is looking for, and the more a particular topic apears the higher chance of us geting what MC deserves.
Halo ended already. Halo 3 was the last Halo game. Now we have this other crap. I’m waiting for someone to take over the series and then have Chief wake up and the last 3 games all be a bad dream so we can get on with an actual Halo game and not one that is a mash-up of all the other generic military shooters out there.
I wanna see halo go out with a bang.
I don’t see a reason why halo has to end. Even if chief dies, there are so many stories to tell.
At the garden at the beginning of the world of course. This hints at the elusive tru7h.

Lol, I could see this. Cortana wakes Chief up on the Dawn, and he starts flipping out.
Cortana; “Whats wrong with you?”
Chief; “Some wierd dream. How long was I out?”
Cortana; “2 days”
Then the Spirit of Fire could show up (strange, I know), and then uses the FUD’s slipspace drive (If it was even located on the back of the ship, IDK where it would be located) to get back to Earth.
Ok, really cheesy ending but…it has more backstory than Destiny.
Halo 3.

Ah yes, let’s end on a poorly written cliffhanger. Sounds great, absolutely great.
Please stop these “3 wuz lazt haylo” crap.
I would honestly hope that Halo wouldn’t end, but then it would become like Mario; a cow that’s constantly being milked. Think about it; Halo becoming like Mario? Mario started small like Halo, but became SO famous that they ran out of ideas, and now it’s getting redundant (Mario, Super Mario, Mario GOLF, Mario Tennis, Mario Galaxy, Mario Olympics, Mario Party, etc.) Halo wouldn’t be the same if that happened. The current Halo spin-offs aren’t bad luckily, but if Halo keeps going on, it may not be fun any more. Halo would end probably like Halo 3, with Chief supposedly dying with a military memorial.

Halo 3 was the last good Halo. Reach was a prequel, so that’s not the end. Halo 4 was terrible. Halo 5 is just Halo 4, but more like Halo than 4 was. Everyone gets every Armor Ability rather than being able to pick one or the other, so H5 probably won’t last either. So really it should have ended with H3. That would have at least let the chief die with dignity rather than drag his story out through the terrible joke that Halo has become in the gaming community.
Hopefully it doesn’t end at all. Keep the lore coming please.
The Precursors will return and they’ll destroy every living things, clear the Universe once and for all and probably try out something new, wich won’t harm the Universe.
Halo should end with a dead galaxy ruled over by some kind of lonely mega gravemind. No more consciousness’ to devour, no new minds to absorb. The flood win but it is now truly and absolutely alone beyond hope wallowing in its own despair for all eternity.
Meanwhile the surviving AI’s have uploaded themselves to slip space where they share a similar yet different fate than the flood.
a digital heaven and an organic hell.
the only two collective minds left forever separated.
that’s how it should end.
without 343

Chief waking up and handling the didact (for now) will no doubt significantly lead into the humans attaining the mantle and actually exterminating the flood and successfully passing the test of the precursors. There’s a bigger picture to be considered here than just “if the didact never woke up everything would be okay.”
With a bang…
