Yes, I know the chances of him being the bad guy in Halo 5 are less than 0%, but just be hypothetical for a second. What if, at the end of Halo 5, all of the “traitor” nonsense turned out to be true and the Chief was some evil character who wanted to kill ONI and all Covenant, even if they surrendered?
Again, it will never happen, but just pretend it did. Honestly, I don’t care if Chief is hell-bent even on humanity’s genocide, I would side with him no matter what.

Yeah, I agree. It would never happen, but what would your reaction be if it did?
This probably would have been more constructive under the lore section as a what if. Because this is the Halo 5 forum, we’re already quite sure of what the general premise of Halo 5 is. It’s just the specifics and how much of what we’ve been told is a part of the story.
Now, with that said and out the way I’ll bite.
If MC was Evil in Halo 5, 343 would have done lost their mind. And I’d probably never play Halo for story again.
And to clarify further, this is EVIL. Not chief making a mistake, Not him messing up and causing death, but purposfully doing bad things. Would be far too stupid and fly in the face of over a decade of lore. He would not go against what he’s done. Sure some unknown spartan 2’s may have felt this way, but the ones we have development for. No chance.
I would stop playing the game. I have no problem with hief making mistakes or something bad but if they made him straight up evil then I am done playing.
The Chief being evil would really change the game’s perspective. Everyone bear with me…WHAT IF the Master Chief did bad things, and Cortana appeared at the ending of the game and chastises the Chief for his crimes just like how Konrad did to Walker from Spec Ops: The Line!
