How would you feel if John-117 got Forerunner armor?

How would you feel if the Master Chief lost his iconic UNSC MJOLNIR Mark VI armor for more powerful and advanced Forerunner combat skin? Such as this.

From a in universe and canon stand point it would make sense but how would you personally feel if the look of the Master Chief that has been so ingrained with Halo and all of us for years was suddenly gone and changed to something very different?

What makes you think that the specific Forerunner soldier combat skin you posted is more powerful than the UNSC MJOLNIR Mark VI? We know that at one point humanity held their own against the Forerunners before being defeated, but were on a near identical technological scale. The Covenant took over and used ancient Forerunner tech while humanity developed their own. That being said, the MJOLNIR Mark VI seemed to do fine against the Forerunner tech that the covenant was using, even being able to withstand quite a bit of plasma fire(with shields based off of Covenant/Forerunner tech). The MJOLNIR armor is also optimized for use with altered humans(with the alloy bone coating and size and whatnot). Though 343 scanned Chiefs Mark V armor as a Class two combat skin(and stated he should be wearing a class twelve), we can assume that the Mark VI is at least a class three, and anywhere up to a class five. The soldier skin you posted may be a class three or four for all we know, while something like the War-Sphinx may be a class twelve combat skin.

This is one of the things I talk about in my thread here. I think that by Halo 5 we will see the chief in new armor. After all, in ‘The Flood,’ Guilty Spark mentions how the Mk V was only a level 2 combat armor, but the infestation recommended a level 12 (i believe) combat armor.

and the humans during the forerunner reign had certain aspects that humans during the covenant war had, such as slipstream capabilities and colonizing other worlds. Past that I think the future humans are far less equipped than the past humans ever were in their prime. I think you need to go back and reread Cryptum

One of the many things that makes Master Chief an iconic hero is the way he looks. If you see an image of him anywhere, you automatically associate the green armor and helmet with Master Chief.

Did Batman ever change his outfit through the years? Yes, but his main outfit has been his iconic image. Same goes for any other hero, such as Spiderman, Superman, etc. What makes them iconic and instantly noticeable is the way the appear. If you change Master Chief, it won’t be for the better.

Keep him the same.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!

If you changed his armor that much, you would ruin his famous character… master chief needs to look like master chief, thats like turning cortana into a lap top.

It’s not happening.

Frankie said that Humans never got a chance to research Forerunner tech and integrate them like the Covenant did because of the war. That kinda means that they will be able to now…somehow.

So, if anything, he’ll get MJOLNIR Mark VII, a forerunner tech upgrade.

I doubt 343 would just throw out MJOLNIR (if that’s what you were implying)

I don’t know if you fully understood his last post, A hero/protagonist in any popular saga is always associated with the way he/she looks so the reader/watcher/player can instantly recognize and associate with that character. Though from the mk V to Mk VI armor change was a change in armor, the Chief was still instantly recognized as the chief. I hope John is wearing The same armor, or atleast wearing an updated Mjolnir suit, maybe developed after the Human-Covenant War after examining Covenant/Forerunner technology. Keep it Human made please, because IMO, I like feeling pride in Future Human technology, that WE made it (or I guess “will” make it)

Except there already is a Mark VII prototype made by the UNSC but never realized.

Agreed 100%. Especially the part about feeling pride in future human technology.

I hope they upgrade his armor, but keep the classic Master Chief look and feel.

Yes it would make sense cannon wise, and I think 343 guilty spark said in Halo: The Flood that he was going to get chief out of the outdated armor and into the current model or something along those lines, but I would not like it. It just wouldnt feel like chief, I mean when he moves around in some of the cutscense I can sort of get an emotion out of him, like when the arbiter was almost crushed from the tank. In the new armor I dont think I can see that happening.

That’s actually an extremely good point. “Humans never got a chance to research Forerunner tech and integrate them like the Covenant did because of the war.” This could explain the presence of UNSC on the mysterious world, as the Sangheli would have collaborated their tech with what humans have found so far. With the symbols and artifacts humans have found, they may have a complete list of Forerunner planets and such(as well as the ability to warp nearly anywhere). The Covenant hadn’t even “really” studied Forerunner tech because they found it to be divine. Now that the Covenant has been ‘defeated,’ a lot of what they had may now be studyable by the new Sangheli-Human covenant.

While they may have said they never were really able to study it during the war, the war is now over and we don’t know how many years it could have been. You can speculate on the base being cortana is still alive but also remember she hasn’t been able to absorb any information that would cause her to die that way. Back on topic the Humans could have very well learned more and advanced because of the forerunner technology, however I think it is very unlikley.

You know what I do with a laptop? :3

I think it would be cool for a few missions (Like one or two) and then he has to take it off or something.

I know it’s already been said, but as long as they just upgrade his MJOLNIR armor with forerunner tech, I wouldn’t mind. If they just straight up put him in a forerunner suit though, I think it’d be awful IMO. Stick with the chief’s iconic image, and just make minor changes, adding in elements of forerunner style and tech into the suit. Not a complete forerunner overhaul.
