How would you do a battle royale

In this thread I am not asking for your opinion if you think halo should have a br or not. I am asking you how would you make a halo br.
Personally I would want to drop in an odst pod then have the map be New Mombasa and then the flood crash land like they do in h3 and as they take over the city you must get to the space elevator and then when you get into a pelican at the top and then fly away. Also a big 50v50 on this map with random weapons would be fun.

ODST training sim or something of the sort. You drop in as a team or solo in a standard ODST drop pod, and can pick a drop point within a certain distance out from the ship, which still travels in a straight line over the map. You start with a suppressed pistol and maybe two magazines worth of ammo, to make the initial landing areas a bit more frantic, while also removing the “got killed because someone else grabbed a weapon first” bit.

Maps would probably include stuff like New Mombasa (pre- and post-Flood for a couple of scenarios), Alpha/Delta Halo’s various locations, and Reach (in the middle of the Covenant invasion). The reason for extraction or victory could differ cosmetically according to the map, so New Mombasa could change between standard extraction after a mission, or fleeing the Flood in a Pelican; Reach would be extraction to a ship fleeing the invasion; the Halos would maybe be a standard “You won!” or Pelican extraction to a UNSC base. If it was a training sim, it’d be easy enough to explain away and give numerous scenarios.

Presenting it as a training sim would also help to establish stuff like cosmetic rewards and the like. It’s literally just an in-universe ODST blinging out their avatar in the sim without having to make 343 rationalize (in-lore) why ODSTs are running around sporting hot-pink camo, firing gold-plated guns and exploding in confetti upon dying, or whatever other crazy cosmetic combinations people come up with.

How I would do a battle royale is making it objective focused. There would be a hundred players which would be battling it out to go to a specific objective set randomly in game. So it could be a oddball, flag, king of the hill, etc. After a player dies he cant be respawned unless if their team goes to a control point that you have to hold onto to get your teammate back but by doing this you would also be slowing down and be revealed to other players so its a risk. I also have another temporary idea with how the objectives work. So after your team fills up the objective bar for example capture the hill your team will get a point and it will move onto the next objective. I would love to see this idea expanded and improved so if you want to you can add something onto it so it can be the best it can.

It’s simple, really.

I wouldn’t.

Well, how would i?

I would never, and i mean NEVER put a battle royale in Halo.
Why?

Because last time Halo tried to FOLLOW the trend, it crashed hard, really really hard. Halo needs to do its own thing, not copy a fomular, that is losing momentum because the fascination has long since passed. Battle royale is no longer as relevant as it once was.

When Halo: Infinite launches, and that of countless other Halos in the future, they should be remembered for what uniqueness that brought to the table, and not what other modes and features they copied.
I wanna be able to say i remember Halo: Infinite for being the game that innovated on everything that is Halo, to be the game where the franchise rose up again, fans returned and new fans gathered for an awesome experience, which would last for years to come.

Fortnite, PUBG and CoD: Warzone exists to maintain these BR modes, let them have it. There has been enough attempts at establishing more BR modes from other companies, and they all come crashing down eventually.

ODST would be cool. Also, we say the Chief drop in Halo 2, so Spartans dropping would not be far fetched either.

This is what I was also suggesting. 60 ODST competing to be selected for the SPARTAN 4 program. The top 3 will be candidates for the program. Ammunition is the non-lethal paralysis rounds.

It’ll work.

Alternatively, XP bundles can be purchased with real currency unlocking above cosmetic items.

  1. Increase custom games maximum player count to 32 (or even 64)
  2. Implement a customs browser
  3. Let the community follow the current trends and create a BR map and gametype while I sit back and relax.

Open world invasion style Gameplay drop elite Zealot Teams or Brute Hunting Parties and Spartan Squads random Objectives and of course warzone style Ai into the mix to keep the world Chaotic like war should be.

Shield only recharges if you have fusion packs to load. 2x normal shield at drop, and over shield is the max charge.

Boom, Halo Battle Royale

Drop pods, to get rid of annoying parachute mechanics.

AR + 1 frag starting equipment, to encourage weapon pickups without leaving the spartan unarmed.

Smaller player counts (32?), with multiple (5?) short (~2 minute?) rounds, to keep the combat pace high, give teammates a chance to respawn, and statistically show which team is best.

Non-random weapon placement, to emphasize the risk/reward of competing over locations with known weapon drops. Think about the rocket launcher that is often fought over in Halo 3’s The Pit map. Also, shotguns placed at the entrance to tight corridors and snipers up on high points.

Multiple maps. I don’t want to play on the same open field every time. I want a variety of maps that promote variable tactics. Close quarters, vehicles, verticality, etc. I don’t think you can effectively fit all this in one map and have it be fun for more than 1 or 2 play styles.

Do something other than a big closing circle, i just think Halo could do better, and the circle doesn’t work very well for vertical areas, as players often get stuck on different floors. Maybe just make each round a king of the hill variant, where the hill unlocks after a minute and one point goes to the team who held it last before the time runs out (or everyone else is eliminated), first to 3 points wins.

For those saying a Halo BR could never work, i’d say: Halo may not be the first BR, but it could innovate on the BR system to make something new. At it’s core, BR is just a squad/FFA elimination gamemode. Halo could do something in that genre and still be fun. I’d try it at least.

I would make it a big map, preferably the ring(Zeta Halo). It will have spartans go solo or team up with 2-4 players. Include all standard vehicles from the games’ multiplayer modes. However, air vehicles will be limited throughout the map. The zone/storm closing in to make the map smaller can consist of the Flood, or be a normal storm. All weapons should be added into this mode, and it should not have classes like legendary or common for weapons like some other battle royale games do. Shields will need some sort of power source to regenerate back to max. You can choose your loadout from the several available ones before the match begins. You can also resupply ammo and grenades and pick up new weapons from other players. It should also have Pelican dropships throughout the game, where they can leave heavy artillery and maybe even heavy vehicles, like a scorpion or something similar. Each match should have a maximum of 50 players. These are my thoughts of how it should work. Also add some events to the map so it can have its own story of some sort and keep on changing, so players don’t have to play on the same old map.

If they did a BR, I feel like duos should be the primary mode. In my head I feel like 2 man teams would work best for a Halo BR.

I think making custom games allow you to make a battle royale is the best idea as it wont be taking time from the actual game.

My main three things I’d like from a Halo BR:

  1. No RNG loot. Every single BR uses this system. If they created their own loot system it would help differentiate from other BR’s.

  2. Would need to bring back projectile bullets. Hitscan would be frustrating in a BR I think, at least one with Halo’s gameplay style.

  3. Map would be a combination of established Halo maps. You know how almost every BR has a map based on main locations and then emptier space between them? I think it would be cool if each named location was an actual Halo map that we’ve played on before.

Like said before ‘Battle Royale’ is not coming to Infinite, Battle Royale does not belong in a Halo game. If people want it that badly then they could just make ‘fan’ games or recreate it in Halo’s Forge instead of asking for something that is never coming. Also this type of topic doesn’t belong in Infinite thread and already getting tired of these BR threads popping up, kind of wish the monitors would start locking these threads down or move them to here or here. Do we seriously need another one of these threads?

I wouldn’t make a br, I’d make something that resembles br but that is still very much halo. Think of a massive 100 player dm or tdm map, or a gigantic king of the hill, something like that. To the modern layman, this would look like a unique version of br, while to classic Halo fans it’s still very much Halo. AND it would be simple to do.

Did you even read what the guy said. It doesn’t matter if you dont want it in I dont either but this thread is about how would you do it so stop whining.

If there is a Battle Royale Halo game, it should either be an entirely separate, side-project, or one mode among the roster of standard modes we already have. Perhaps replace Warzone with Battle Royale.

I like the idea of dropping in with a drop pod, steering your descent to a degree. But I also like team games, so let’s try Battlefield style with 12 v 12 or 16 v 16.
Making it objective based would be the best route. A slayer-like Battle Royale would see a lot of quitters once one person gets near the winning score since it would be kinda improbable to quell their win streak after that long.

You could kind of already make a Battle Royale mode with 16 players and FFA, one-life settings.
