I’d like to see the Mantis return in Halo Infinite, and even the Colossus too, but I don’t know how they would balance them in the multiplayer.
I’ve played a bit of Halo 4, haven’t played 5 because it’s not on PC, and the Mantis seems to be a very powerful vehicle whose ability to peak and crouch from cover gives it a huge advantage in addition to it’s health, which comes in the form of a sturdy energy shield.
It usually dominates the game it’s in, unless someone brings a Scorpion or manages to hijack it. The Colossus, were it to be added, would also face the same balancing problems.
How would you balance mechs, if they were in infinite?
I think a major nerf that would balance it out would be to remove its shield. The shield gave the driver way too much room for error which allowed for them to take a lot of damage and it not actually affect the overall vehicle health - resulting in it lasting way longer.

That’d be a good change. (Of course they’d have to mess with the lore a bit since the Mantis canonically has a shield, so like say "During the banished conflict the shield had to be stripped due to logistics reasons/production costs etc.) Maybe increase the speed/radius of the stomp as well, since you’re practically a sitting duck whenever you press the melee button, at least in 4.
Good news, the Mantis is unofficially confirmed to be in Infinite, thanks to a toy reveal (not mega construx, but the jazwares/WCT ‘world of halo’ line. States “Based on its design in Halo Infinite” and comes with a Halo Infinite spartan)
The mantis is really easy to deal with in Halo 5, but I don’t know what it will be like without req weapons to call in for fighting it. I feel like the inability to call the mantis in and have it be dropped in by a pelican in BTB 2.0 will keep the game balanced as well. Might see a map or two where it is a starting vehicle spawn, which also answers the balance question if both teams have it.
I imagine plasma pistols are not hard to come by. Stun and board.
I hope the mantis of Infinite goes back to single rocket launch with the option to charge and launch all rockets.
